Whatever do you mean flaggie, they are 'moved in' pics we're just going for that ultra minimalist look carlswil Your floor looks fantastic, as does your driveway Thanks carlswil, The driveway was supposed to be cut and acid washed this arvo but this rain we're having might put paid to that idea. herbiecat Belial you flooring is absolutely gorgeous! You must be wrapped! Your driveway and path is looking good too! Cheers herbiecat, we're thrilled with the way its come up and tbh looks much better with the semi gloss, seems to give it a bit more lustre than the full gloss. wizard That floor is awesome Thanks wizard, now we just need to keep it looking that way having a no-shoes on house will be a change for both of us but worth it in comparison to scratching it. In other news, hopefully we'll stop our mass education campaign today (read: taking down the newspaper off the windows) and replacing them with curtains. In an entirely unrelated matter can anyone recommend a mat or something we can use on the inside of the front door for people to walk on with shoes, so they can take them off inside the house rather than outside which will actually trap the dirt etc? We've been looking at the 3m Nomad mats, but the only one we can source as a single mat doesnt have the backing otherwise its sold as sets of 6 mats or on the roll. If anyone has them or can point us in the right direction we'd appreciate it, or if you have timber floors already and have something that works we're all ears. Thanks in advance guys. Lovely pics. Loved it. All the best with the progress. Wish you a very happy new year Re: Our Places Fairhaven 23+ - Entry mats? 831Jan 10, 2011 9:53 pm Greetings fans and fossils, (I'm sure you can all categorise yourselves appropriately ) Contrary to popular rumor we haven't fallen off the planet, nor has the clay under us swallowed our house whole. However things have been afoot, specifically we have A fence..... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 20110104-IMG_0283 by Belial669, on Flickr Notice I say A fence, well we don't have all our fences due to one adjoining neighbours builder being so generous as to place their site scrape (about 1m high) and all their assorted frame offcuts and tile debris over the property line, whilst on the other front the ongoing (8 weeks) now of the scaffold on the double storey as well as that builders pile of refuse on our property is still unresolved. But fear not plans are in motion and ultimatums are being prepared. Seems the EPA doesn't take kindly to builders who dump building waste. Still enough of that and on with the inside, so i'll preface this we actually have been to ikea only twice....and no we didn't stay there for the last 2 weeks or so since the last update. We liked Erin's library, but thought it was a little limiting for our combined collection thus was born the "Billy wall". And for those not versed in their Holy Ikea Catalogue (2011 edition not the king james one) that is 4 x 40cm and 3 x 80cm for a total of 8m2 of book space. I wish we had that much wall space to do what you've done... but that would mean buying a heap more books!!! hehe Thanks Erin, we're really happy with the way it turned out... after putting in all the books and realising how little space is left there was some talk of changing the left hand side to a corner unit and extending down that wall as well but not anytime soon, i think we'll buy the height extensions before we start taking up more wall and floor space. Thanks Victoria, also worth noting if you are considering your own, ours are fastened to the wall on each individual billy at the top using the ikea supplied bracket, and the wall mates and fasteners we got from the big green shed. Also we found to not get noticable gaps in between them we screwed them together , one towards the top and one towards the bottom, whilst using a couple of kwikgrip clamps to hold them tight together and well the finish speaks for itself As well as they are a lot more solid feeling as pulling on one, isn't just anchored by the one wall mate above, but also the other bookcases attahed and their top anchor point. Wizard I agree, it all looks great Thanks wizard, it seems to be all the big things inside are getting done, now its just all the fiddly bits and pieces that seem to take forever and our to do list just keeps getting longer Our Build - Places Fairhaven 23+ - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28045 Our Landscaping - Belial's Backyard - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=45375 Re: Our Places Fairhaven 23+ - Entry mats? 837Jan 11, 2011 12:37 pm Belial Thanks wizard, it seems to be all the big things inside are getting done, now its just all the fiddly bits and pieces that seem to take forever and our to do list just keeps getting longer I hear ya, as I tick one thing off the list, 2 or 3 more appear, ah the joys of owning a home Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: Our Places Fairhaven 23+ - All those bits and pieces. 838Jan 11, 2011 12:39 pm WOW, your bookshelves look great. Looks like I might need to make a trip to Ikea! I recommend comfortable shoes and clear your schedule for the day and someone else to help get them in your car when your done. Also worth noting is at 202cm long, the billy boxes don't fit easily in most cars and whilst we did manage to get them in my hatchback and they were all strapped together they still liked to move around abit and with that amount of weight shifting it made the drive home a bit more interesting.
