Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 803Oct 18, 2012 9:39 pm Drove past today to take a look at our windows and to our surprise the bricks had been delivered a day early. They look even better than the sample. Its getting very exciting. And our plumbing looks like its done. We are very lucky our neighbour is owner builder and lets us on to his block to have a look at our place. From what we can tell it doesnt look like the actual roof trusses are even touching the alfresco doors so no weight at all bearing down so hopefully wont be too difficult to fix. Have to say very happy with the quality of the workmanship so far. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46741 Clovelly - Masterton Homes 5% to M 290312 CDC 21/06 20 days 29/08 Slab 17/09 Frame 26/09 Bricks 24/10 Roof tiles 20/11 Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 804Oct 18, 2012 9:42 pm What do you all do for work? We run 49 weeks strait. Only have Xmas time to have a break and be with our own children. We both work 12-14 hours every day. We also built the preschool from ground up, so I have some idea, though different requirements. Do you sell the parts on eBay? Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 807Oct 19, 2012 2:09 am Ebay and forums and websites. Mainly ebay though. My missus has been working for pre-schools for the last 10 years. She's kind of lost interest though and is currently also training to be a Veterinary Nurse. Theres not much money for Teachers Assistants in pre-schools, especially for the work-load and responsibility. I couldnt do it. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 809Oct 19, 2012 8:15 am Hi all, Been a while since we logged on. Things starting to move with our build. Council approval took 3 weeks. We have done all our appointments now and the initial peg out has been done on the block. We are waiting on PCA to approve the movement of a bedroom window that we never noticed had been moved 'off centre' due to moving the Hot Water box..... Fingers crossed this will be "free" to change, otherwise we will leave the window off centre. Not paying $1500 for a variation. We are still hoping for a slab by Christmas shutdown. M are semi-confident that this can happen. SO ARE WE !! Looks like we are pretty much on the same timeline, except mine is KDR and my peg out is being done today, as we had to demolish our old house. Try simple text for signature, removing unnecessary words, like 'done' and Abbreviate like CDC, Elec + A/c, Colours etc, As everyone knows what they mean. Let's see who will get slabbed first Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 812Oct 19, 2012 9:28 am pacificisis 8) Hi all, Been a while since we logged on. Things starting to move with our build. Hi kdlen ours has been 2 weeks not quiet finished yet double stories take a while. Hi! I guess it varies depending on number of carpenters on the site doing the frame. We definitely had our 2-storey Villina with high ground-floor ceiling done just less than a week, with the exception of the roof, but including the roof over half the garage running down to the rear alfresco. I seem to recall seeing two crews there at all times during this stage. Same goes for bricks, the other way for us. Brickwork, taking away the 8 weeks between site visits, has so far taken at least 1.5 weeks, and they are only halfway. They recently spent two days just loading the bricks up onto the first floor scaffolding, so this gives you an idea of just how many bricks are involved (22,000+ apparently, and each one has to be laid with care). Hi KDLEN, Ours is a 2-storey Manhattan 37 and took 6.5 working days to go up excluding roof trusses. That got done after bricking and only took one day. What vatche said. Eliminate characters. (Almost like typing a SMS). Dont use spaces. Use tags with text for links to threads or blogs. I noticed you have "12" in your sig 10 times. Maybe type 2012 at the top. Avoid using repeat characters like you have. jo&waz ....this gives you an idea of just how many bricks are involved (22,000+ apparently, and each one has to be laid with care). Holy crap thats a lot of bricks. It seams like such a tedious, or on the other scale, meditative job. For us, This week gone saw about 2/3 of our brickwork done. The brickies were here Mon, Tue, Wed & Thur. I dont think many tradies like to work Fridays, even though the weather was perfect.
