They have been doing such a great job so far with the actual build. I love it 😍 Re: Valeco Homes 83Sep 10, 2017 9:31 pm bananarama Yep, eclipse with off white mortar. I can't wait, feels like forever away!! We have eclipse bricks.. i could have sworn at colour selections she said it came with off white mortar as standard but looking back it says natural mortar. I'm really worried it might look crap but i'd hate to pay $500 admin fee to change it. Re: Valeco Homes 85Sep 11, 2017 6:23 am staceyrussell bananarama Yep, eclipse with off white mortar. Considering our home is much smaller than yours Stacey, they charged us a whopping $735 to change ours, yours may be more, plus the admin fee. But it depends on how much you want the look.. you can always render at a later date Our First Home - Building with Valeco in Brookhaven Estate viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89162 Re: Valeco Homes 86Sep 11, 2017 7:25 am Ours was $900 ish for the mortar. I recommend finding some other things you have thought about changing, and adding to the variation. That way it's $500 to change a couple of things, and kind of spreads the cost around. Ie do you want full height tiling anywhere? Do you wants extra height doors (including cabinet or wardrobe)? Extra heigh garage door? Different grout colour somewhere? Rebates to your sliding doors? Have you included an acid wash for your bricks? (They don't do it standard) Basically, anything you have thought "I wish we had done xxxx..." now is the time do them when you would already be paying the variation! And we are 4 1/2 weeks into the build. Not sure what the plan is for this week, I know we are waiting for our front door so that we can get our enclosed invoice! Re: Valeco Homes 87Sep 11, 2017 7:11 pm eclipse won't look too bad with natural mortar... there will still be a contrast there, and yep the price of mortar gets higher with the more bricks you have... Valeco is more expensive than most for that. Acid wash im pretty sure was included at the time i signed my contract, and im sure Stacey would have been the same. Although i think it only applies to darker coloured bricks. I would just ask to see if they can change it over without attracting a fee.. no harm in asking anyway. You would think it would be an easy upgrade to include. There are sooooo many things i wish i added to our build, but have to draw a line somewhere... damn budget! Re: Valeco Homes 88Sep 11, 2017 7:30 pm We signed our contract in April, and it wasn't an included item at that time. When we queried it before colours, They confirmed that in writing that it wasn't included, nor was it mandatory for you to get the wash. Now it's mandatory for people that choose a dark bricks, but still not included ie is an extra cost. Re: Valeco Homes 89Sep 11, 2017 7:34 pm Hopefully Eclipse bricks still look good... I wish I could see some examples, but I've struggled to find any. And yes - I believe the acid wash was included (at an extra cost, but it was compulsory for the Eclipse bricks). Other things I'd be interested in are:
BUT the biggest problem is that we're already over budget. I don't think I could convince my partner to pay the $500 admin fee, let alone the expense of anything I would want to add. Thanks for the clarification - maybe im thinking of something else then, because i swear they said they that brick clean was included as we were originally interested in eclipse... we signed about the same time. Maybe acid wash' is considered something else. i noticed their new flyers now say that it's not included for dark bricks Re: Valeco Homes 91Sep 11, 2017 7:38 pm bananarama We are on working drawings version 8...... I hope you guys can get it right with a smaller number of changes! I had same issue but then I realized it was the salesperson passing the information on incorrectly rather than the fact the drafter cant get it right. The new sales guy I am dealing with got every changes I asked passed on correctly and even checked it before sending it through to me 2014 Custom Home - Antech Constructions - 2018 Custom Home - Valeco Homes Re: Valeco Homes 92Sep 11, 2017 7:41 pm _sallz I had same issue but then I realized it was the salesperson passing the information on incorrectly rather than the fact the drafter cant get it right. We kept to standard for many things but spent more in other areas where most wouldn't bother. I personally think standard height doors are fine. It might look weird if you had 3metre ceilings however. we kept pretty standard for bathrooms, and raised the height of tiles for the showers only, as it was 3 walls. But we did upgrade the tiles throughout. I wish we had black fixtures though... they should be easily upgradeable down the track anyway. If you think it will bother you each time you look at it, then i would consider upgrading... but only to things you wont be able to change later. Or do you have to choose same tiles and vanity colours for both? Also, two colours is included in the kitchen cabinets? Am I correct. Our First Home - Building with Valeco in Brookhaven Estate viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89162 Re: Valeco Homes 96Sep 11, 2017 8:29 pm Not sure about costs for diffferent bathrooms but definately allowed 2 colours for cabinetry in kitchen Re: Valeco Homes 97Sep 11, 2017 8:34 pm bananarama Here is the PGh bricks wall. Thanks so much!! I actually think I prefer the natural, what a relief!! Haha Re: Valeco Homes 98Sep 11, 2017 8:39 pm We will have to agree to disagree about which looks better (lol) but I'm super glad you like what you are getting! 😀 Re: Valeco Homes 99Sep 11, 2017 8:40 pm bananarama We will have to agree to disagree about which looks better (lol) but I'm super glad you like what you are getting! 😀 Haha, don't get me wrong - off white and crisp both look amazing, but I just think the natural will achieve the look we are going for with our facade. Re: Valeco Homes 100Sep 11, 2017 8:45 pm Lol. We all have different goals on what we are looking for for our house and I firmly believe that natural fits in with some looks, just not the one I'm going for. I definately prefer it when it's all one or the other. Not a fan of the dual mortars like in that second picture as I feel it makes it look dirty rather than the nice dark overall look.
