Browse Forums Building A New House Re: My build in Bloomdale- Slab is down! 82Sep 28, 2017 8:45 pm aloenyx Oo; bit cheeky of them!! Good luck for it being up tomorrow, its fun to walk through the frame!! I'm looking forward to it they had no display home so I don't even know how big the rooms etc will be haha. It's hard to work it out from the drawings. The little bit of frame that's down makes the rooms looks tiny though! Re: My build in Bloomdale- Slab is down! 83Sep 29, 2017 9:22 am Congrats on the slab!!! Very cheeky of them indeed to invoice you for the frame!! Cant wait to see your frame up!! Thanks Charli! I drove out today not expecting much but magic framing fairies appear to have rocked up on a public holiday cos I have a frame! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It's long! All of the rooms do look tiny, I did have a slight panic attack thinking I'm gonna be sleeping on a single bed in the main room because that's all that will fit (haha!) but I went back a couple hours later and I think it will be fine. The spare rooms are 3x3, as is the dining room, and the bathrooms both look pretty squishy considering all the stuff that needs to fit in them. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ensuite is the closer one, main bathroom second, then laundry and walk in linen/pantry The dining and living rooms are nice and open, and I do like the windows (and double sliding door!) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The backyard looks like it will be a great size! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The garage is a large single which looks like a decent size and should mean I can park in there without hitting anything (I have no driving skills!) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And the kitchen window is bigger than I was expecting! Not sure why the pipe is where it is though, the sink is near the window, not in the island. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ There are a bunch of surface cracks on the slab and I don't know if I should be concerned. I don't really want to ask about them though as had my phone not been near them, there would be no way for me to know about them... I think I worked out the pipe in the middle of the kitchen is maybe for the PowerPoint to the island? I actually didn't notice the other 2 pipes over near the kitchen window (assuming for dishwasher & sink) as I was too busy being confused by the other one. Hahaha. Re: My build in Bloomdale- Frames complete! 88Oct 04, 2017 7:04 pm aloenyx Looking good Thanks Sammy74 Wow it's looking amazing it's happening so quick. Thankyou! It’s actually freaking me out a bit how quickly it’s happening- I’m assuming it will slow down a bit sometime soon, but yeah, it’s a bit crazy at the moment! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It’s been wrapped and the gutters were going on when I drove past tonight (I didn’t want to get yelled at by the gutter guys so no pic of the front) I’ve got high ceilings and the front looks so tall! I think the front is going to look really nice though!! Bricks look like they’ve been delivered but they were on my neighbours site surrounded by temp fence and were still covered in plastic- I cannot wait to see them! Re: My build in Bloomdale- Frames complete! 89Oct 05, 2017 2:05 pm Yep the pipe is to run the wiring through to the island - we had at least two pipes under our island, one for power and the other for the sink/drainpipe. Oops!) so that will delay things a little, but I’m ok with it- it was all happening very quickly and I’d like to get my head around it all while we wait for the bricks I also emailed my sales guy tonight- in one of the pics I saw online with the mock up of the 4 houses together, they all have up/down pillar lights at the front which look pretty- but they are not on the electrical plan. So I’ve asked for a quote to get the wiring done before the bricks go up. I’m assuming it will also incur a variation fee, so if it’s going to be way too expensive I will forgo them (just checked my contract- $1000 variation fee. Gee wizz, I guess I will not be getting pillar lights. Boo) Re: My build in Bloomdale- Frames complete! 92Oct 06, 2017 10:43 am Sammy74 Sometimes if you ask the electrician he will do it for you. Ask your site manger? Thanks for the suggestion I’m pretty sure there’s a thing in my contract that I’m not supposed to talk to the tradies but that’s definitely an idea if they decide I have to pay the variation fee. I’ll wait and see what they come back with! I managed to get an appointment to walk through the house next week- it’s with the building company’s managing director rather than the supervisor though. Bit strange! Hopefully I can ask the few questions I have and get a response from him though. Also, looks like the council have planted trees along my street- wonder how many will be left by the time the houses are all complete! Does look nice though! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I’ve started decluttering my stuff at home so I don’t have so much junk to take with me. Am hoping I can keep the house nice and tidy and not cluttered, we will see how that goes! Re: My build in Bloomdale- Frames complete! 97Oct 12, 2017 6:43 pm Definitely as long as the quality is also good. I kind of miss building a house XD once you move in the excitement of building fades (Thankfully so does most of the annoyance over the build!) Hopefully the quality will be good! valerie3e Looks great! Thanks I had an on-site meeting with the MD of the building company today, he seemed to know his stuff which was good, as I had a few questions and he picked up some errors that he’s said will be fixed. The holes in the wall wrap will be taped up prior to bricks, there is a random stormwater pipe in the dining room that should be outside (lol!), the frame separating the pantry/linen cabinet hasn’t been put up, there are a few pipes in the wrong spot outside, and the shower base in the main bathroom is about 10cm away from where it should be. But he has advised it will be fixed, so I’ll keep an eye out for that. The bricks still haven’t arrived but he advised the bricks need to be completed ASAP, as the house next door is about to start going up along side of my wall that’s on the boundary. So hopefully bricks aren’t too far away. They were taking down the roof safety barrier things when I was there but I decided to wait til later in the week to take a pic as I couldn’t be bothered waiting around MD advised he would expect lockup and plaster to be completed prior to Xmas, and house should be completed around Feb so that’s good to hear yes it does, you've just not understood it. theres a difference. 4 5981 Your house should come in "as new" condition.
