Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Simonds Sierra - We have some bricks 81Feb 10, 2014 1:41 pm We met with our SS today, 'most' of the cornices are up, some fell down and they think its because of the hot weather. The painter was setting up when we were there, so that should start today or tomorrow. Bathrooms etc are ready for tiling too. The SS can't give us an approximate time frame yet but said once the tiling is done he will get a better idea and will be able to tell us. Fingers crossed the tiling is done by our next appointment in 2weeks. At our next appointment we'll also get our windows measured for blinds. Re: Simonds Sierra - We have some bricks 82Feb 10, 2014 4:10 pm Wow thats moving along so quickly.... But it wouldnt be more than 2 months away. You are further along than us by a little bit and we have been given mid april Re: Simonds Sierra - We have some bricks 84Feb 12, 2014 6:50 pm Our build ticked over to the 'final' stage today! Meaning all the final fittings get done, not long now!! Can't wait to check it out on friday to see what has happened. Re: Simonds Sierra - We have some bricks 85Feb 12, 2014 7:20 pm Woah?! That didn't take long at all!! Does that mean you will be in before the end of March or even earlier???? Re: Simonds Sierra - We have some bricks 86Feb 12, 2014 8:05 pm I hope so but I have no idea. We wont get a time frame until the tiles are done. Killing me.....!! Re: Simonds Sierra - We have some bricks 87Feb 13, 2014 10:52 am They build thousands of homes! I am sure they know how long it will take from now to finish it! They should have a timeline of events, Maybe they are waiting on some tilers to become available? and its delaying it?? Re: Simonds Sierra - We have some bricks 88Feb 13, 2014 11:07 am Yeah probably stayxtrue. I guess they also don't want to give us an expectation and don't come through with the goods....totally understandable. They're also trying to source bricks for our window sills, I really hope it doesn't hold things up. Re: Simonds Sierra - We have some bricks 89Feb 13, 2014 11:12 am oh! You didnt have any left over bricks? I have noticed ours still have none so I am hoping that we dont have that happen either, however I spoke to our brickie last night and he said they will be 100% completed by saturday including all the capping, So fingers crossed Re: Simonds Sierra - We have some bricks 90Feb 13, 2014 11:53 am They sent the bricks that we were initally going to have for the peirs, but then we had to change the design but the bricks were still sent, therefore it meant the red ones ran out. The SS is having trouble sourcing the right colour because every batch is a little bit different. Re: Simonds Sierra - We have some bricks 91Feb 13, 2014 6:01 pm WOW everything has just moved along so fast!!! You must be excited!!! Did you query the waterfall ends? Personally no I would not accept that. A friend in SA built the Isis and had the waterfall ends and there is no gaps at all. Google it too. You wont be long now. 4 weeks tops! Re: Simonds Sierra - We have some bricks 92Feb 13, 2014 6:33 pm We dont have waterfall ends however I thought the two would join anyway. I like how it looks however not sure if its actually meant to be that way! Re: Simonds Sierra - We have some bricks 93Feb 13, 2014 6:35 pm Oh and if it is only 4 weeks that would be so awesome...then we wouldnt have to extend our lease which finishes on the 3rd of april. Re: Simonds Sierra - We have some bricks 94Feb 14, 2014 7:38 am 4 weeks?! thats insane! Thats sooo super crazy!!! makes me wonder how quick ours will be done now! Our bricks are almost there they just need to finish the pillars on the front, the back and complete the bricks under the windows! Re: Simonds Sierra - We have some bricks 95Feb 14, 2014 1:53 pm Allow 1 week for painting. The rest are just day jobs. We spun out at our speed so enjoy the mad rush ehehe Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished! 96Feb 14, 2014 7:40 pm Its getting so exciting rosaandben! We're thinking that in a matter of months our home is going to be in the North and its so weird. We went for a look today and the painting has started. We've picked pale mushroom, I like the colour however I was hoping the ceiling to wall colour would be a bit more streamline, like the display homes I guess. We're happy though, its not a yellow colour or anything, that was my fear! Our tiles had also been delivered and I had no idea what I'd picked for them. I remember at our selections appt saying that I wanted light grey tiles and the girl grabbing two, saying one had a green tinge so I went with the other, now that I seem them they look a lot more brown, colour is Plateau. I even remember holding them next to the carpet we'd selected and they were grey...maybe it was the light and maybe they'll look different once installed.....oh well, too late now! I also had in my mind that we'd picked light cream tiles for the kitchen splash back, however it appears we have picked something pretty different....which is vaguely familiar now. The colour is Cafe Ash and they're similar to what SASimondsSierra picked....which is funny because after seeing their tiles, I was wishing I'd picked something as more of feature since the rest of the kitchen will be cream. Here are a couple of photos The paint Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The bathroom and kitchen tiles wrapped in cling wrap, hoping they get started next week, in time for our inspection meeting the week after. Now that I know tiling has started I desperately want to go for a look but won't be seeing it until next Monday. I'm sure heaps more would have happened by then, a full 7 days of work....oh the potential! Cant be too much longer for you guys now. Our tiling is starting mid to the end of this week, So I will be interested to see how it looks as we changed our wall tiles in the bathroom from a really bright white to a cream! I didnt want to do it but the missus wanted it to be Cream, now we are a little unsure about it. As our floor tiles are a brown S: Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 99Feb 17, 2014 11:57 am I really hope its not much longer. Once the painting is finished, different things can be done on the house at the same time, eg electrical, mirrors, doors etc. It just can't be much longer, 4 weeks tops (trying to not get my hopes up that it will be any shorter than that....just in case!). Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 100Feb 17, 2014 1:42 pm Yea its looking like end of march is a realistic time frame for you guys, I wouldnt be putting a 4 week time frame, but then again Simmonds seem to be quick! They just started a new one around the corner from me and in 1 and half weeks they have the roof tiles on and half of the bricks done! WTH!! haha! That is just soooo quick! Thanks mate.
