Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Home Group WA build in Wellard - ERMAHGERD!! 81Jul 10, 2014 12:47 pm Awesome reading all this drama - it's like a 13 part soap opera ! Nobody knows what will happen next - including the script writer (HGWA) !! We are building in Emerald Park and our slab was laid about 7 weeks ago now - HGWA have no date yet for brickies which suggests a terrible shortage . Fingers crossed HGWA won't just lie still and will actually do something about it - which is in their best interests as the sooner they move to the next stage the quicker they get paid. Until then we just have to grin and bear it. My only concern is that Homegroup are fair and are scheduling the bricklaying phase in the proper order - it will be terribly unfair if someone whose slab was laid much after yours gets their brickies in first. cheers Re: Our Home Group WA build in Wellard - ERMAHGERD!! 82Jul 10, 2014 2:13 pm lkbaal Awesome reading all this drama - it's like a 13 part soap opera ! I am assuming that your block is the one that I keep checking on. The slab was laid a week or 2 before ours and I was hoping for brickies to come straight to ours after doing yours. But still no action when I drove past on Monday Re: Our Home Group WA build in Wellard - ERMAHGERD!! 83Jul 10, 2014 2:26 pm Hi again ....have not heard from them for over a week now....the last time I got a mail was a week ago and no promises were made. I am not going to stress anymore as I have no control on when the next phase will happen. Until then I will drive by on the weekend to look on enviously as other homes continue to rise ! Happy for those whose homes are getting built at a reasonable click. Re: Our Home Group WA build in Wellard - ERMAHGERD!! 84Jul 10, 2014 2:58 pm lkbaal ... My only concern is that Homegroup are fair and are scheduling the bricklaying phase in the proper order - it will be terribly unfair if someone whose slab was laid much after yours gets their brickies in first. cheers Well given our experience with HGWA, I would say your hopes of fairness might be severely dashed. Up until now, we have seen no rhyme or reason in their placement of builds on the list and it has been oh so frustrating to see people sign up months after us now with houses at plate or roof level. And we still have an expensive block of sand. Brickies? Shortage? I never understand this, it happens every year the minute rain starts. Re: Our Home Group WA build in Wellard - ERMAHGERD!! 85Jul 16, 2014 11:00 am Okay - some news to share -been promised brickies will start work end of July - fingers crossed the rain stays away. Does appear the 10 week wait between slab and bricklaying is the norm so it's better to accept that period right at the start - might help keep everyone calm. cheers Re: Our Home Group WA build in Wellard - ERMAHGERD!! 86Jul 16, 2014 9:17 pm Hope you get your brickies as promised! I hadn't even noticed that one before so I guess I may be even further down the queue I was thinking about it yesterday, it wouldn't be so bad if they were just a little more honest with their times. Like if it's going to be 10 weeks or 3 months, just tell me that and I can be annoyed for a day or 2 but I will get over it Re: Our Home Group WA build in Wellard - ERMAHGERD!! 88Jul 22, 2014 11:50 am Hi All, WOW - what a thread!!! Ups & Downs..... great to find some other HGWA'ers. We've just signed up, or signing up with them. I've read such good things about them, until yesterday and today, but i think that's going to be the same with most builders. Some will have bad stories, some will have good, i think you take a risk with any of them. We've got some learning to do too, and all of our variations at the moment too, we're pretty much at the edge of our budget, and that's without doing prestart eeeek!!! Starting to get a little worried. I knew and expected to go over our budget, but really really wanted to try our hardest not to blow it out of the water. This is our first build and we are expecting titles in November - Hopefully not to be delayed any further. Great to hear timelines on other's builds so we can get an idea of what to expect, we expect delays that's for sure. Dreamily hoping we can be in by xmas 2015 if all goes smooth enough. After going through as many threads as i can, i'm now worried, we don't have enough storage 14 Dreng Way, Brabham Signed Land Contract - 29/06/2014 Finance Formal approval - 16/09/2014 Prestart - 30/04/2015 Titles - 22/05/2015 Building Permit - 25/05/2015 Land settled - Slab - Bricks - Re: Our Home Group WA build in Wellard - ERMAHGERD!! 89Jul 22, 2014 11:53 am lkbaal I was thinking about it yesterday, it wouldn't be so bad if they were just a little more honest with their times. Like if it's going to be 10 weeks or 3 months, just tell me that and I can be annoyed for a day or 2 but I will get over it I couldn't agree more - just say 10 weeks! Our CLO won't give ANY sort of timeframe, its so frustrating! But we don't even have bricks yet (to my knowledge, haven't been passed since last week), so it's a long time to go for us I expect. So depressing to see others who were way behind our build have now passed us. HGWA tells me they have no idea when brickies may start at ours, they can't even give us a rough idea now. Has been no progress at our block since bricks were delivered 6 weeks ago. Good luck everyone. Will be back when I get my enthusiasm back Re: Our Home Group WA build in Wellard - OVER IT!! 91Jul 29, 2014 11:42 am Completely understand your frustration. I don't know why some builds start quicker than others really. Hopefully you'll have good news soon and return. They will start moving and you will be in your house this time next year!!! Good luck Re: Our Home Group WA build in Wellard - ......brickies!! 93Aug 30, 2014 10:49 pm Things have started to move again finally We have 2 brickies on the job. They started 2 & a half weeks ago and have made pretty good progress considering the crappy weather. They are expecting it to take around 6 weeks to finish, we can only hope there aren't too many rainy days in the meantime.
