Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Mt Barker Build – Bluestone Estate - is now a Simonds Bu 81Sep 05, 2013 12:28 pm Thanks Miss Mia! It just adds an air to the place... just feels really nice to be in. Want to use that area as one big open space to the outdoor deck, so the stacker doors will really help with making it one giant space We have changed the Bed 3 window to face west (the back) and Bed 4 will be a sliding door, as we are planning on using that as a study as its just off the kitchen. So hopefully it works! We have a site start contingency built in (extended to September 2014) so we can safely allow the land to settle and that is when we will be ready to go. We will apparently have our plans in the next 2 weeks and then will be able to book our colour, tile & electrical appointments then!!! So excited Honestly, this process with Simonds has been nothing short of great. There was an extra promo going on so our SC added that in for us too, told us when stuff has reduced in price and made sure that our contract was amended to suit. We have included all of our upgrades into the pre-lim, so colours and selections wont be too much of an issue. We've been through the gallery about 3 times and picked (basically)what we want, and we just got it costed then and there and put in the pre-lim. The only estimates/PC items we have on our pre-lim is the site works, until they can soil test and fix it (before contract) so I'm pretty happy at this point, got everything we wanted and then some Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Mt Barker Build – Bluestone Estate - is now a Simonds Bu 83Sep 11, 2013 9:57 am Sounds wonderful, if only all sales guys were like that! What are there range of selections and suppliers like? Re: Mt Barker Build – Bluestone Estate - is now a Simonds Bu 84Sep 11, 2013 10:12 am ha! I know! Really, really good... their standard vanities, basins, taps are all fab. We didnt have to upgrade any of that. They do lever internal handles as standard, so that was fine, they use Polytech & Parbury for their kitchen cupboards and bathroom vanity laminates, which are all lovely. Lots of selections. PGH for the bricks, Ceaserstone for the stone tops, Beaumont Gold range for the tiles (in the promo)... ummm I cant think of what else, but their displays reflect what you can have... not $$$ upgrades, so that was a pleasant surprise, because their displays are gorgeous! Oh and the 900mm s/s freestanding oven was standard too (you could also have a 900mm underbench as well). We did the $50k of upgrades (anything) for $15k promo. How does the overall cost compare to the other builders you were considering? Re: Bluestone Mt Barker Simonds Build - Pre-Lim Signed! 86Sep 11, 2013 11:42 am Really well Lucinda... We are amazed what we got with them... They are really trying with the SA market and are bending over backwards to get the business, not just financially but with service, attention to detail etc. That $50k for $15k really really did wonders, shaved so much off the bill. And all stuff we would have done anyway. I am under no illusions that we may have some hiccups (we are building afterall!!) but in all honesty, i cannot fault Haydn and Simonds so far - so I feel going in to it (compared to last time and all the other appointmets we've had, the most comfortable and confident i've been). Main stuff I can think of that we got: (there's more but this was my main list). The upgraded facade Full timber windows to the front and timber feature slatting above the garage and front windows the 2740mm raised ceilings the raised 3.8m feature ceiling to dining/kitchen/family 25 degree roof pitch & 450mm eaves 5.4m meter 2340. High stacker doors to the dining/family room Dining/Family extension by 300mm Double vanity to ensuite & full floor to ceiling tiling (and we redesigned the ensuite to have an enclosed sep. toilet as well) 2x niches in the showers with feature tiling (went to Beaumonts and got quoted) The velocity smart wiring Sheen/silk finish to cabinetry & overhead cabinets Ceaserstone benchtops Waterfall ends + feature servery to the kitchen (as per the sierra plan) Semi frameless shower screens 5.0 Glasswool batts to ceiling/roof - & insulation to the internal walls Laundry cabinetry in lieu of the stainless trough Upgraded (same laminate as the bathroom vanities) shelving to the WIR 2340mm high internal doors 2340mm stained feature entrance door & translucent sidelight 30 10w LED dimmable downlights (some places we want normal batten lights, like the bedrooms, garage & entrance hall so we can have a feature fitting ) extra tv & power points Telstra velocity fibre optic cabling Heatlamps/IXL lights in the ensuite & bathroom Floor to ceiling tiling in Bathrooms - and an allowance to lay larger tiles Timbergrain sectional panelift door Cat 2 bricks Cat 4 bricks for feature piers Translucent glass/stained wood feature door for the pantry - as per display Alot of stuff was standard/included so we were lucky - close coupled toilets, raised bowl sinks and mixer taps etc. We also have a $5,000 allowance for the gallery, in case we cant decide on electrical stuff further on and just to be sure really! But we dont expect to need it because we've covered off so much in the inital stages and know what the options are, and have sort have already decided what we want to upgrade and what we dont already!
