Cheers Gazza Hi Gazza, the vertical gaps are quite normal. They get filled in anyway when the render goes on. Re: Building With SPH - Brickie's nearly finished 89Apr 12, 2010 6:48 am Hello Shell I googled vertical joints ,the vertical mortar joint is known as 'buttering ' and should be 10 mm of mortar on the sides of the brick. They do not give specific reasons but I would imagine it being stronger. The 2 houses being built next to me have it. Maybe a bricky out there can offer his expert advice. SPH's certainly have spec'ed up the Vittoria range site haven't they!!! macarsons, Bec is spot on, be ORGANISED before getting there with everything. Hi Gazza, there are many threads on this issue as most people are concerned when they see the vertical gaps, just like we were!. We had heaps of gaps and I was quite concerned, we spoke to our SS about it who told us the same thing, that the gaps will be filled in during plastering and having the gaps there makes the plaster easier to apply because it sticks better. This seems to be the explanation from most builders. Re: Building With SPH - Roof frame Delivered :) 94Apr 13, 2010 6:32 pm Thought it must be normal.
