Browse Forums Building A New House Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 781Apr 13, 2011 6:07 pm Hi all, Just joining those that are waiting for council approval. Our plan is in council as of yesterday. Hoping for a quick approval. So far our council does it in around 3 weeks for single stories, but some have also been 1-2 weeks. Getting close, now to start getting quotes for retaining walls that we need after cut/fill but before the slab. taki Building Havana Elite with side HT with MJD 20/04/11 DA approved by council 06/06/11 cut/fill 08/06/11 piering 20/6/11 slab 11/8/11 frame complete 18/9/11 lock up 28/11/11 handover booked Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 782Apr 14, 2011 8:47 am Hey Taki, Which council are you in? ___________________ Initial deposit - 31 Oct 11 Signed Contract - Apr 11 Released to Construction - 03 Jun 11 Site Start - 05 Jul 11 (Advised) Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 783Apr 14, 2011 4:46 pm Hi All, First time poster, long time reader... My wife and I are choosing between MJH and another builder and were wondering if anyone was able to shed any light on what the standard colours & inclusions with respects to the wall colour choices, types of kitchen cupboards, handles, doors & bathroom vanity colours and styles?? We are more then likely going to choose the impressions upgrade package to include the Cesarstone benches, chrome fixtures and yadda yadda, but wanted to know; when it comes time to our “Colour consultation” are we going to be jammed to pick better colours and styles of cupboards, doors etc for the kitchen and bathroom vanities, because their standard colours/styles are just plain boring Looking forward to my first reply Thanx All Built the Havana 3 by McDonald Jones Homes Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 784Apr 14, 2011 6:31 pm Castlevania, we are in Camden council. kopite1982, welcome to the forum. Wall colours ar 2 coat system, but there are a few neutral choices. For cabinets/ vanities you can choose any laminex/formica colours in natural/velour finish. If you want better quality, such as vinyl wrap, you would need to pay exttra. Also, draws are extra for both kitchen and bathroom. Tiles are not really of a big range I think, maybe it depends where you build. Basic is just that, but there certainly is scope to move up from the basic range compared to other builders. However when considering your options be mindful of the costs involved to upgrade. Lots of the display homes have all the bells and whistles, but have 10's of thousands $$ worth of upgrades. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 786Apr 15, 2011 6:58 am We just had our electrical yesterday and frogot about the TV antenna. What did everyone do about this. Can it be included added, or we have to do it ourselves after handover? Hi taki, we don’t mind using laminex/formica for the bathroom vanities but we were thinking to also go with laminex for the lower cupboards in the kitchen but a poly finish for the upper cupboards and thinking no handles for the upper cupboards as well - Surely because we are not including handles we should be saving lol.... but i have a feeling they will slug us because it isn’t a "standard" spec... Would you have an idea of what we're looking at, have you seen the prices for these little variations? sorry for all the questions Built the Havana 3 by McDonald Jones Homes Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 788Apr 15, 2011 5:26 pm There is no difference in price in handles versus handless as I recall, but there would be difference when it comes to using ploy, not sure how much.
