Browse Forums Building A New House South @ Seaford Meadows 741May 23, 2015 11:17 pm Thanks Juan, we really wanted a light roof from the beginning (surf mist or shale grey) and built the rest of the selections around that. We ended up with shale grey with austral grange bricks and basalt facias and gutters. Good luck with finding a builder, that was the hardest part for us. Don't forget to play them off each other (within reason) as much as you can to make sure you get the best deal for YOU - not the salesman. Don't feel sorry for the sales people for hassling them with what you think are silly questions and definitely don't let them talk you into something your not 100% sure on! As hard and arduous as it is, it is extremely satisfying finally signing on the dotted line once you've made a decision! Good luck. Re: South @ Seaford Meadows 743May 24, 2015 10:18 pm Has anyone who has finished their build in seaford meadows had any troubles with their storm water outlets and drive ways not matching up with their houses? We noticed the other day our storm water outlet to the gutters has been put slightly too far to the left and technically is on our neighbors land. Looking closer we also notice our driveway really doesn't line up, nor is it wide enough for our double garage. I understand not all house designs are the same width or size but our driveway seems well off. Who do we talk to about this, realty sa or the council? It just looks like something was surveyed incorrectly somewhere and especially with the storm water outlet it don't seem like something we should pay to rectify. My dad is a plumbing inspector and has said technically it's illegal for us Tao use an outlet on someone else's property. Re: South @ Seaford Meadows 744Jul 06, 2015 9:12 pm Hi slatters, how have you found the process going with your build? Are you nearing completion, have you had any contact with Fairmont or the site supervisor? We are having all sorts of issues and delays which is so frustrating and are wondering how other Fairmont builders are going with their build. Re: South @ Seaford Meadows 745Jul 06, 2015 10:36 pm hi We have just had the tiling done When we need an answer to something I email client liaison and they do get back to you We have the site on hold now to get the retaining And fence poles in Fairmont are doing the paving The build will go over time hopefully not too much We still have painting stormwater Paving Tiling main floors Carpet Re: South @ Seaford Meadows 746Jul 06, 2015 10:41 pm We have been waiting for a tiler for over 4 weeks now. So frustrating. I asked about putting our site on hold to do storm water and the office idiot I spoke to said I couldn't and I'm still waiting to speak to the site supervisor about that and other things - but can't get hold of him via text, email or phone calls. The site is pretty much on hold anyway, I don't see why I can't go and do my storm water. We are meant to be done on the 21st but I don't see that happening. So frustrating, we are not getting any finishes from Fairmont, just the bare bones yet they still can't give us a timeline of when we will be in! Re: South @ Seaford Meadows 747Jul 06, 2015 10:42 pm What's even more frustrating is we've had eaves materials for around 6-7 weeks sitting out the front in the sun and rain, don't need to have the tiling done to do the bloody eaves. If it's still there when the mrs. Goes past tomorrow I'm going to ask for replacement materials as the ones out in the rain are al, warped and bent. It's a bloody joke. Re: South @ Seaford Meadows 748Aug 18, 2015 6:09 pm ... And we're in! After an epic weekend moving and starting to dig stormwater drains we are finally seaford meadows residents! Lots of work still to do but looking forward to life down (further) south! Re: South @ Seaford Meadows 749Aug 18, 2015 10:49 pm Congrats Jonoo! Been following your build on here and the Fairmont home builders page. It would be great to see some pictures of the house Fairmont build for you guys (when you have time of course). Anyway mate go pop a bottle of bubbly and enjoy the new place! Re: South @ Seaford Meadows 750Oct 21, 2015 4:39 pm Hi! Been lurking for a while. We are looking at building down south too. Is it required to be used (eg toilets, garden), or is it optional? Building a Fairmont Custom in Seaford Meadows Our Build Thread Re: South @ Seaford Meadows 752Feb 26, 2016 12:03 pm This thread is looking a bit dormant but I'll try my luck. I'm looking for recommendations for companies who do Concreting, fencing, air con and solar. If anyone could help it would be hugely appreciated. We've had a few quotes but they seem to be quite different so we would rather use tradies who are tried and recommended. Thanks so much Re: South @ Seaford Meadows 753Feb 26, 2016 12:14 pm MJT Does anyone know about the non-potable (purple) water supply? Is it required to be used (eg toilets, garden), or is it optional? I think it's optional. Our neighbors recycled water main does not look like it is connected. I think you will require a rainwater loop to be installed if your not using recycled water though. Re: South @ Seaford Meadows 754Feb 28, 2016 12:45 am Yeah seems like the requirements say all new homes must have a rainwater provision, and a rainwater tank fitted prior to occupation, except for estates or councils where they have a recycled water option. In that case the purple tap recycled water allows you the option to not have the rainwater tank setup. So you have to have one or the other.
