Bit annoyed with builder at the moment as they have sent us a variation for electrical work. We are currently in negotiations regarding the amount. It's in the hundreds fortunately but still it's money that could be spent elsewhere and they should have allowed enough in the first place. Spoke to our building inspector and apparently our ss wants to talk to me about tiling. I have not heard anything from ss yet though. I think it's just about changing the laying pattern as the current way that we are having them laid is going to be too hard I think. Glad that he is thinking about it. Anyway I await his call which hopefully will be soon, keen to keep things moving. Painter is still pottering around in the house but that is about it. In the mean time I am starting to get quotes and consider ordering appliances needed such as fridge, dishwasher and microwave. Oh and a mattress. More pics to come once I have something to take a photo of Re: FH's Custom Build in SA- Week 25 728Jan 28, 2014 9:03 pm Sorry to hear re the extra electrical variation cost. Hope you can negotiate something. Can't wait to see your tiling. Re: FH's Custom Build in SA- Week 25 729Jan 29, 2014 8:55 am Pity about the electrical work if it's not something extra you have asked for. Re: FH's Custom Build in SA- Week 25 730Jan 29, 2014 8:59 am They just did not allow enough in our contract, it was a 30% increase. The allowances are supposed to be fairly accurate which is obviously wasn't... Re: FH's Custom Build in SA- Week 26 731Jan 29, 2014 9:46 pm Phone call from SS today, we are meeting onsite with the tiler tomorrow. I hope we can come to a decision that satisfies waterproofing standards and looks good too. Our building inspector is attending the appointment as well, I will be glad of his opinion. Wish us luck! Re: FH's Custom Build in SA- Week 26 732Jan 29, 2014 11:46 pm Good luck for the outcome of the meeting. I'm sure they'll come up with something that'll look beautiful. Re: FH's Custom Build in SA- Week 26 733Jan 30, 2014 6:00 pm Thanks Lucinda! We met everyone onsite and I think a good solution has been found. The tiles were delivered while we were there and the tiler is planning to start in a couple of days once he has finished another job. The tiler has my contact details so he will call me if he needs to clarify anything but I think we are all on the same page so should be right. The builder rang us about the variation. We have been allocated someone who is keeping track of the budget and preparing the end figure. She seems to think that it will all work out in the wash and that we won't have to pay anything. Namely where allowances are blown out there will be savings on others. So both hubbie and I are feeling positive and excited, fingers crossed for a smooth lead up to PCI! Storm water done today. Took 3 guys the whole day so glad we did not do it ourselves. Another item to tick off the list, not much left now I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature.
