We are at the framing stage- this should be completed this week if the rain stays away and then hopefully our bricks will be delivered by end of the week. Some pics below of the frames so far. It's cool to see how the place looked only months ago compared to how it is now, houses popping up everywhere! It's fantastic to see, can't wait to live there Went past yesterday and everyone's places are looking great! Shame about this weather that's arrived though Daz your place is looking great with the render, almost looks like a completely different house! Have a great rest of the week everyone - thank goodness it's a shorter one! Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 684Jun 12, 2013 4:59 pm Ohh, show some pics Daz! Lewis Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 685Jun 13, 2013 7:53 am HI everyone We met our SS on site on Tuesday just after 2pm for an inspection as per Clarendon’s requirements. The tradies had obviously been onsite earlier and started installing our roof and wall batts (Fletcher Insulation Pink Batts). It’s slowly coming together now. In our excitement we forgot to confirm that the walls between the main bathroom/toilet and bed 2/3 were lined with Acoustic Batts as we paid extra for those – we have emailed our SS and are waiting for him to confirm. Aren't they pretty?! Gyprocking was due to start today with the plan for lock up to be completed by next Monday. If the front/laundry and garage doors aren’t delivered on Monday though it will be Thursday. We checked all the wiring, powerpoints and light switches were all roughly were we had placed them during our electrical meeting. Everything is looking good so far! Hubs and I were a bit sad as we thought the SS was going to call us and let us know when the sparkie was onsite so we could install a few extra powerpoints, but that didn’t happen I know we can always add them later but we probably won’t. I think looking at it now we wish we’d put in another data cable, but oh well – the house will still function as it is Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ S S advised we’re still on track for August handover, whether that is early or late August we don’t know – We’ll just be happy when we have the keys in our hands!! Bring on moving day! Your house looks fantastic! How exciting for you guys to walk through and check it out! I love that last photo you posted. Pity about the electrician, but it is easy enough for it to be done after, we know a great sparkie if you need one down the track. And August isn't that far away!! SO close It’s funny that we’re so excited to see things happening but again it just feels like they could be moving a bit faster with things. We were also a bit concerned as our SS doesn’t really seem to remember us/what we’ve told him we’re doing in the house (I.e. We’re not having timber floors and we’re going with south coast flooring for our carpets/tiles). The plumber is a goober and also installed a DWV (drain-waste-vent) right in the backyard. Against his wasn’t on our reports and we would have much rathered it be on the side of the house that is hidden. Just little frustrating things popping up every so often. BUT onward and upward from here I am sure How are things moving on site for you guys? Any new developments? If the weather holds out we’ll head to BR on Saturday for a peek -Rubyam Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 688Jun 13, 2013 10:34 am Ruby, Those roof tiles look great Plumbers and electricians - I know how unreliable they can be if you do not know them. Lucky Wiz, she knows her sparkie well... Our SS also mentioned that he would walk with us when frames go up and confirm if we are happy with the locations of PowerPoints etc. We will have to wait and see how that goes when we reach that stage. Been a bit slow this week because of the damn weather, although our lovely Sales Consultant at BR emailed me today that three plumbers are working on external drainage If any of you see frames being delivered on our site, pl. let me know. That is exciting about external drainage taking place, something is better than nothing after all hoping it all goes together efficiently and correctly!!!! This sunny weather looks like it might hold out for today, but the next few days leading into next week look miserable Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 690Jun 13, 2013 2:28 pm Everything is looking good for everyone, hope the weather stays nice for you all. Just had a call informing me I would either have to flip my house design or choose a new house design due to SL changing the plans/layout of my street. Works out it will be fine to live with the change, however it is annoying. Having the house flipped has as many pros/cons as leaving it in it's original position, however SL have thrown it back on us and the builder stating I received material before exchanging showing the changes in the street design etc... bit of a lie considering I exchanged before the contours were updated/released, but I wont get to big a chip on my shoulder. Wouldn't be surprised if something like that happens to us, I'm just bracing myself for it!! What exactly did SL change on your street for you to have to flip the house? Are MJH making you pay for the changes at all? Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 694Jun 13, 2013 3:54 pm Nat84 That sucks Dime! But sounds like you have a great attitude about it!! Wouldn't be surprised if something like that happens to us, I'm just bracing myself for it!! What exactly did SL change on your street for you to have to flip the house? Are MJH making you pay for the changes at all? The photo with the highlighter etc are the plans we bought the land using. They have since updated the plans as depicted below (and built the street in this way) meaning our driveway must now be on the western (left) side of the block (there is a faint "driveway lay back" drawn in grey)... We were originally given advice we would have to build with a garage on the east (right) due to the concrete tree box. So basically we have to flip our house as we can't cut a driveway through the parking bay. SL basically said to allow us to cut into the parking bay they would have to build another parking bay in the subdivision, which is not possible... Not sure if we will have to pay, however MJ were unaware of the changes to the plan of the street until I alerted them (two weeks ago) to the fact that it had been built based on the updated plan. Dunno how the neighbours are even going to have a driveway considering they have a concrete tree box on one side of the lot and a parking bay on the other... To be honest I don't mind flipping it, just annoying the developer blames you for them not provided up to date information and changes designs after you've given them $10K. I will be annoyed if I have to pay more for the changes though... We've decided to not be lazy and get flooring, blinds and driveway done after handover so just starting to do a little bit of research thanking you!
