I had no idea what I wanted to do with it and was looking at Pinterest with my big girl and stumbled across fluid art, I tried it and loved it. After a thrash at mitre 10 for supplies I got busy on my table. Re: Bold Living Acreage build, Scenic Rim QLD - Slab Stage 665May 29, 2018 10:15 pm You’re flying along now Tribe, I’m so happy all your bank woes and hiccups are behind you! I found the roof on so exciting, really getting a feel for all the spaces. Your kids are adorable. You are so talented I would never think of any of the cool things you do and I definitely couldn’t execute them. I wish I was craftier, I think having all of your bits and pieces is going to make your home so warm and inviting. I’m thinking of chalk painting my dining table in white that’s the limit to my craftiness lol. Re: Bold Living Acreage build, Scenic Rim QLD - Slab Stage 666May 29, 2018 11:24 pm kailie86 Woohoo for a roof! I love a surfmist roof I really wanted the surfmist but husband wanted basalt so we settled on a shale grey Yours looks great and will go so well with the dark render. That’s a perfect compromise with shale grey I am loving the surfmist, it’s a big contrast to the monument render (I’ll admit I’m nervous about how it’s all going to look) Re: Bold Living Acreage build, Scenic Rim QLD - Slab Stage 667May 29, 2018 11:28 pm sunnycoastfirstbuild omg!!! Tribe look at all that progress!! Your build is absolutely flying along now. My goodness it is looking amazing You will be in before you know it. I am so excited to see your place all come together. I am in love with all of your craft, they look amazing. Wish I had even one creative bone in my body, but it's just not for me. So I will just drool over all of your creations hehe. Hey Sunny Thanks for the kind words, we are really starting to take shape now, it’s exciting to see. Owh thanks, I love the craft stuff, it gives me something to do and the little kids like helping. I’m not very good at it but I’m giving it a go I really love doing this, Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Baking I’ve made and iced a lemon cake, choc chip cookies and cheese and ham rolls and a loaf of bread. Can you believe this will last 1 day Re: Bold Living Acreage build, Scenic Rim QLD - Slab Stage 668May 29, 2018 11:32 pm Lot126 Nice hat! And I love your succulent bowl, I am a crazy plant lady. Thank you, I’m loving the hat too. The succulent bowl is a good idea hey, $35 is so cheap. So we decided on a hedge too..... Lilly pillies 🤦🏼♀️ not what I wanted in the slightest but copes well with the heat and heavy clays here and establishes quickly. I spent a few hours (whoops) up at our local nursery discussing hedges with the ladies and a vast majority of hedging scrubs/trees can’t handle it out here. The giant hedge they have on there property sold me. Thanks wolfie, I’m trying to relax and enjoy each stage and not sweat the finish line. We are so looking forward to moving up the block. Mr T is going to put the trampoline up the block for the kids this weekend (after we find some rio bars to bend into U hooks so we can hammer the trampoline legs into the ground, it’s really wind on our hill and the trampoline likes to blow up the paddock ) Re: Bold Living Acreage build, Scenic Rim QLD - Slab Stage 670May 29, 2018 11:43 pm sparrowsnest You’re flying along now Tribe, I’m so happy all your bank woes and hiccups are behind you! We actually put our block on the market we where so disheartened. Thank god it didn’t sell. The roof is exciting it defines the spaces and gives perspective I think, our ceilings feel high which is nice and we have a lot of bloody windows. Have you thought about window furnishings? I’m trying not to but I know I should. My kids are emotional terrorist, they all nearly got sent to the home for naughty children tonight. Damn monsters wouldn’t stay in there beds, they knew I was baking and kept getting up No definitely not talented, I just like following instructions, I find something I like, research the crap out of it and then try it. I’ve had some epic fails . Oh cool chalk painting your dining table is a awesome idea. What colour are your chairs?? Hubby is making me a table which I’m super excited about, did I mention I brought my dining chairs?? Re: Bold Living Acreage build, Scenic Rim QLD - Slab Stage 671May 29, 2018 11:48 pm Looking good tribe. Your on a roll. They get the frame up so fast it’s amazing. Everything happens for a reason, that’s why it didn’t sell I was planning plantation shutters across the front and I have a few quotes. Having wet areas across the front and and with the cladding I think the plantation shutters are the best fit but I think I will put curtains on the kids bedrooms still to soften them. My younger two kids take half the evening to get to bed but now that the oldest can look after himself and put himself to bed I kind of miss it lol. My chairs are wooden with a once cream seat. I’m thinking of recovering with navy (a great colour for kids) or a blush pink (not very practical). And painting the chairs and table with vintage white chalk paint. The plantation shutters will look amazing across your facade, I didn’t hang curtains in the kids rooms with the shutters and found them lovely. Who have you gotten quotes from?? I don’t think your that far away from me maybe 50 mins if you find a good company I would be keen to get a quote too. That’s a good idea with your chairs, you could use a velour or suede navy blue for some extra texture. What does the chalk paint dry like? I don’t know if I’ve seen it used. [/quote] I love the idea of trying to minimise the mortgage. I’m not sure if I told you about our mortgage dilemma but we had to cut 50k off our build because I was on maternity leave and I couldn’t get the letter I needed from my employer. Now I’m grateful that it happened because will have more breathing room with our mortgage which means more holidays for me lol. I love taking the kids and I want them to see the world. Now I’m hijacking your thread lol. My oldest is 12 and yep grade 7 this year. He’s all of a sudden very grown up. They grow so quickly yet so slowly lol. I’ll have a look for my shutter quotes and send you the details. I actually laughed thinking of you this morning as well when I was driving out to check out the house and there was a loose cow on the side of the dirt road! This a someone else’s before and after of the chalk paint. My dad has just found me a free coffee table as well similar to this so I will chalk paint it the same colour as the dining table.
