But I am not sure if we need two double vanities.... this is me really trying to cut things down now ![]() ...... no double shower......in the ensuite, no double vanity in the ensuite....... what else is a little overkill for a four person family??? ~ okjorg viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55196&p=844089#p844089 Settlement date - 13 Jan Final plans - 24 Sept Council approval - 21 Oct First peg in the ground - 7 Nov Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 669Apr 25, 2012 2:53 pm It's not overkill, it's luxury. . . We all need a little luxury. . . Is this hd talking or you jorgo? Hahahahaha! I can fix the ensuite window situation, tonight. . . I can't believe noone is going for luxuro-bath. . . I particularly like the steps into the bath. . . Maybe with all of that space under the house you should have a sunken bath! Two single vanities in a good idea. . . One each, one mess each, one can't blame the other for grottiness, you know which kid to yell at. Actually, I like the china-topped vanities, I wanted them for all bathrooms, but you can't get them in doubles. . . They're V cheap, much cheaper than caesar. . . Two singles in the ensuite too? Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 670Apr 25, 2012 2:56 pm Luxuro-bath is overkill.... but geez.... she's a beauty!!! Am I aiming to have a window on the Western wall as well as above the bath on the southern wall???? How would luxuro-bath look if the bath wasn't under the window??? ~ okjorg viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55196&p=844089#p844089 Settlement date - 13 Jan Final plans - 24 Sept Council approval - 21 Oct First peg in the ground - 7 Nov Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 671Apr 25, 2012 3:09 pm Stick with larger shower and double vanity in ensuite if budget allows-much better for house valuation... ![]() BTW- I've given up trying to get any credit whenever one of my ideas finally gets used...I just sit back and quietly enjoy the feeling of smugness! ![]() Deemaree Kyndylan Capers: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=46852 My blog: http://www.sufficientlysufficient.blogspot.com/ Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 672Apr 25, 2012 3:26 pm Dee..... so you should.... you've had heaps of great ideas...!!!!! Jo where have you gone??? More DIY I suppose!!!???? I have never had anything to do with double vanities or double showers - such a luxury!!!!! ...... I guess I will talk to the builder and negotiate from there.... ~ okjorg viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55196&p=844089#p844089 Settlement date - 13 Jan Final plans - 24 Sept Council approval - 21 Oct First peg in the ground - 7 Nov Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 675Apr 25, 2012 3:41 pm ![]() I have never had anything to do with double vanities or double showers - such a luxury!!!!! ...... I guess I will talk to the builder and negotiate from there.... I am a bit like you I think - go the more minimalist (keeping budget down) approach. What Dee says is true for resale though (people do seem to like double vanities). Our house is a forever house, so we went with single vanities in all our bathrooms (even the ensuite). Wet tiled steps up to a bath can be slippery...plus extra grout to clean... ![]() Deemaree Kyndylan Capers: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=46852 My blog: http://www.sufficientlysufficient.blogspot.com/ Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 680Apr 25, 2012 4:22 pm Have been perving for a while now so here are my thoughts on your plan if that really matters any more. Delete one entrance to study, need walls for furniture. If visitors want to use the loo they have to enter your closed off zones. Put toilet/basin and linen where dressing is and move dressing to the left side. Main bed needs to be no bigger than 4 x 4. On lower wall would have bathroom, separate toilet/basin, laundry, store, bed 4. If you don’t want bed 4 too close to dining have bathroom, separate toilet/basin, bed 4, store room and laundry. Keep bedroom 4 large because when your kids are adults and bringing people home they won’t want to be in bedrooms with adjoining walls. If you have a separate toilet/basin you will only need one basin in the bathroom. I would make one of the smaller linen cupboards a broom cupboard with no shelves to store ironing board, mops etc or make a space for these in store room. Keep ensuite shower size but totally agree with kiwi re double shower. When you first get together and you are size 10 and you can actually bend into a Kama Sutra position it would be great. As you get older it’s bad enough having to sleep with him and put up with the farting, snoring and dribble on MY banana pillow so there is no way he’s allowed to intrude in my shower or spa time. Regards, Grumbles Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 20236 For reference, this is the Austlii reference.
