Browse Forums Building A New House Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 661Aug 05, 2010 9:04 pm I agree Acherion. A new outer suburb development like Aurora has very little in common with those in the green leafy / rural areas in terms of infrastructure requirements etc. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 663Aug 06, 2010 8:18 pm MOZ The trouble I am having is with the sales rep. Its been months since he returned my calls or email. I have to go to the display house everytime I wanna ask a question. Which usually involves waiting for a few hours. I was wondering if there was a better way people have had luck with. I can't believe that, that is terrible. Have you been given a customer service rep to deal with? Maybe call the head office number and ask them who to ask questions of. I can't imagine any large building company being happy to hear about this. In my experience the sales reps lose interest very quickly once you have signed the contract, but then you become the responsibility of the customer service reps or the administrators - depending on the builder. We are building with PD and have had no issues in this way to date. Only problem has been that the land is not ready yet!!! Just remember, everyone has a manager, and if you are polite and reasonable when to speak to them, 99% of them will be willing to fix the situation for you. GOOD LUCK! Moz - I think what Acherion is saying is that the bulk of our Federal Members' constituents reside in country town-type areas, where the needs of the community are very different to those that we have here. ie: they would be focussing on issues resulting out of the Black Saturday fires and issues to do with farming and so forth. It just seems a bit easier if we were in the Scullin electorate where the types of issues being faced are similar in nature. Not sure if I'm making sense. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 666Aug 09, 2010 9:04 pm Any residents having trouble flushing their toilets today/tonight - it's because the water recycling treatment plant is having problems. YVWater have been trying all day to fix it. They said tonight it'd be at least another 12 hours before fixed. Thought I'd mention this in case you thought it was just your house. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 667Aug 15, 2010 12:47 am HI guyz Im bulding in stage 16 Aurora. Anyone in stage 16 has started building at all. I'm with JGKing. So far Everything is smooth. Ian Bristow in JGKing is really helpful. Anyone with JGKing had bad experiance??? Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 669Aug 15, 2010 5:03 pm tortoise hello, anyone build corella with burbank? need to know how long it basically takes...my landlord is selling mu current rental premises...hence a bit trouble... thanks, tort We are building the 4 bedroom grebe (24sq) with Burbank. We started in June this year and we are in the final stage as of friday. we are being told another 6 - 8 weeks for completion but not definite as to when it is all finished. Hope this helps. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 671Aug 15, 2010 8:07 pm tortoise Thanks julzg! Definitely a good reference. But, why needs another 4-6 wks if is already reached final stage? Cheers, tort it's when the painting, tiling, carpets, cleaning, etc gets done. What stage are you in? Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 672Aug 16, 2010 10:48 am sigh...no stage... just starts to apply for building permit today... bit delayed due to kitchen splashback... we bought the promotion package that include as one of it...after all those colout selections and drawings, they then called back last week saying that our home design cant have a splashback as that will block the sunlight and we wont have a chance to get building permit... i dun really mind if construction takes a while as i dun wish the house to be build in hassle...however now i am pretty much forced to move in nov, so is difficult to find a place with months contract...cant afford to pay more to stay in those short term accomodation too... cheers, tort Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 673Aug 16, 2010 11:29 am Hi j2008, We're also in Stage 16 and we're still waiting for our final house plans. We're with Burbank. I went for a drive a couple of days ago and there doesn't seem to be anyone starting to build yet. Do you have your house plans yet? I think it will take at least a month to apply for permits so I guess the earliest we'll start building is end of september. Anyone know if people in stage 15 have started building yet? Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 674Aug 16, 2010 11:35 am Marleena Anyone know if people in stage 15 have started building yet? I'm in Stage 15. Still trying to get developer approval and building permits. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 675Aug 16, 2010 10:47 pm Quote: We are building the 4 bedroom grebe (24sq) with Burbank. That is so fast! Our house from slab poured to moving in was over 13 months! and prior to the slab being poured was several months Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 676Aug 17, 2010 9:42 am I'll be living in Aurora by the end of the year. I've read bits and pieces about what's going on with Arise. Can someone sum it all up for me? Thanks[/quote] I'll also need speed of light internet connections once we move in and am starting to wonder whether ARISE itself has a max quota and that their service is cut down once they reach their limit. The fact that it ramps up again at the start of the month could be a sign of this. (just being funny) I have no idea what the "latest" is - maybe one of the newer residents can shed some light on what's happening. I'm happy with everything except at end of month when it's down to 66kb/s or similar and also the intermittent echoing on the phone line and the limited plans available and the pricing. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 678Aug 17, 2010 10:24 pm i dun wish to be a moaning cow...but now everyday when i am "battling" with Burbank paper works... i just dun know how to look at the bright side when my rent in sydney per month is $1000 and full loan is around $2300...guess if i wanna to build a house with Burbank again, I need to make alternate plans... tort Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 679Aug 18, 2010 7:49 pm Tortoise - could you move in with family for a while? We moved in with my parents for 18 months (our house took FOREVER to build) - we paid 1/2 the rent and paid for all the groceries and half the phone/electriciy/gas/foxtel etc and I did all their cleaning etc. But it did help to split the rent. Do Burbank have a decent build period so that once things get underway you won't be waiting too long? Our building period in the contract was 350 days and it went over that. But we weren't with Burbank. $1000 sounds like pretty cheap rent for a monthly rate. I was going to suggest moving to Melbourne sooner but you're not going to find anything anywhere cheaper than $1000 per month. I hope things get moving for you soon.
