Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Cracks are appearing :( 641Mar 29, 2013 10:54 am gees...those cracks are huge. when did they start brickwork after slab down? you need to do a walk around and write down every single thing now for them to fix before you get keys, eaiser to fix now than later, even if it means a couple of weeks delay to get keys, but you rather move into a home that is functioning. I haven't seen any cracks at mine, just yet. Did a walk around the house yesterday. Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Cracks are appearing :( 643Mar 29, 2013 1:22 pm The one in pillar of say they will just refill with mortar. I can't see crack in slab on my phone will look on computer. We had some hairline cracks but wasn't an issue. Screed was put on them before our floors anyways. They weren't noticeable unless you look. Strange they've suddenly happened. Been any compacting happening around your house? Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Cracks are appearing :( 645Apr 02, 2013 4:15 pm Hey AC how's things? Any PCI dates in mind? Oct 10 - Council Approval Oct 23 - Site scrape Oct 29 - Footings and Prelay OCT 30 - Slabbed Nov 6 - Bricks Delivered Nov 13 - Brickwork started Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Cracks are appearing :( 646Apr 02, 2013 4:26 pm Hope you get your PCI date today. My experience this morning was not good so I hope you at least get some good news Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Cracks are appearing :( 647Apr 02, 2013 7:59 pm PCI Date is 9th of April next Tuesday. Got a letter in the mail today saying hand over should be 10 working days after PCI which would make it the 23rd of April which would be great because it's the Anzac Long weekend for me as I have also booked the Friday off work. However the CCA said she can't guarantee handover and give us a date. I am thinking they're so short staffed it maybe hard for them to organise to meet with the bank for them to tick it off! In fairness too them they have offered to open the doors open on the 11th of April so the flooring company can do there measure for our spotted gum flooring. So I am happy with the good faith they have shown with allowing that aspect but it will mean nothing if can't get the keys before Anzac weekend as the install is meant to be just after Anzac. Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Cracks are appearing :( 648Apr 02, 2013 8:03 pm We got our keys before the 10 working days so you never know. As long as your get your insurance to bank and the bank make their payment etc you may be lucky! Least you now have a date and the end is so close Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Finally a PCI Date! 649Apr 02, 2013 8:29 pm LeanneR C-homes has changed a lot in the last couple of years, I am sure you're starting to notice. While your right you never know, I may get it before 10 days (The CCA is already bracing me for it saying she is not willing to give me a handover date), based on my experience so far if I was a betting man I would say it would take longer. I was meant to have PCI last week and they have already pushed it back 2 weeks by the time it hits the 11th. Even though no work had been carried out on my house in that time. Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Finally a PCI Date! 650Apr 02, 2013 8:52 pm Yes it has changed you're right. And not for the better. Guess I was just trying (and hoping) to be positive Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Finally a PCI Date! 651Apr 02, 2013 9:11 pm It's very nice of you LeanneR and I appreciate it. However by the time you get too the stage I am at now with your upcoming build unless they turn things around dramatically, You will most likely be feeling like how I am feeling. In regards to handover it's not a matter of thinking am I going to get the keys within 10 working days you look at it in the perspective that the question is how many working days will I have to wait after the mandatory 10 will I actually get the keys. Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Finally a PCI Date! 652Apr 02, 2013 9:34 pm Do you know if council or builder organize the tap? If its council I'm hoping a tap for my birthday haha (27th April) Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Finally a PCI Date! 654Apr 09, 2013 11:33 am Goodluck at PCI today. We need some photos Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: PCI Day! 655Apr 09, 2013 8:43 pm Mixed Feelings with PCI day would of been nice to have experienced it with the SS I had through out the journey met the new SS for the first time, use to work at Affordable Living. Just went around picking out minor flaws. There was a bit of rough plaster in Laundry and he is like before you paint just run some sanding paper over it before you seal and paint it, and refused to get it removed themselves. Also complained about the Brick paving how the sand sealer wasn't spread down the cracks and just sitting on the pavement he is like yeah you can broom it over yourself....
He is going to fix the crack in the garage but the slab cracks they are not. Just a few other minor things to get done, replacing a brick etc. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: PCI Day! 656Apr 09, 2013 9:02 pm Looks lovely, bet you are glad you have reached the end Attitude of SS does not surprise me if he worked for affordable living, the two houses being constructed near to mine have been dumping the rubbish on our verge, when I confronted them they were not interested, the name and shame are though Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: PCI Day! 657Apr 10, 2013 6:26 am not good of SS but house is fantastic congrats Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Floor Dramas! 658Apr 15, 2013 7:44 pm Thanks guys. Received some horrible news today still in shock and don't know how to take it! Direct Flooring the company we put a $1000 deposit down so they would stock our purchase of spotted gum. Rings up my wife today. I am not sure if they're trying to rip us off but we're going to ask for a refund anyway! First of all they came out last Wednesday and did a measure. The guy says today that a lot of houses these days the guys are mixing the house render inside the house and then spreading a thin layer over the slab? I have not noticed this. He then said it will cost us $50 per sqm for them to sand all the render off? Has anyone ever heard of this? Now for the deal breaker he said they have no Spotted Gum left only Blackbutt a container came last month which was meant to be half/half but only came as Blackbutt! They said we can give you another form of Spotted Gum but that's an extra 22 persqm. I am disappointed as we have been in constant contact with them about organising our floor and they never once told us they had no spotted gum left! We were always under the impression that our 1k deposit was to store the material as they said. We could of at least organised another company that could of helped us by now if they had of told us what has happen and apparently they're got to wait a few more months before another shipment! Anyone know any good reliable floor laying companies? Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Floor Dramas! 659Apr 15, 2013 7:54 pm Sounds like a load of cra$, you gave them plenty of notice about the flooring and they should have known better. About render on floor???? I have never heard or seen it, I reckon these guys are trying to rip you off, def take your deposit. Why settle for another brand, you get what you paid for!!! Cheek saying its not avail and asking for more $$$ for another wooden flooring. Twke your $$$ n Tell them where to go. The last thing you need is additional unwarranted stress ATM. Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Floor Dramas! 660Apr 15, 2013 8:08 pm WTF They could have told you this months ago whenever the container arrived. Gosh id be fuming too!! I know with floor company we use you pay 50% deposit they hold all your stock until its time to lay. We used carpet court for our current house and will be using them again for new house as we didn't have issues with their service. Gold underlay for under carpet is standard. And a screed to make floor smooth is standard with vinyl planks For solid wood though im not sure of process. If they are floating wouldn't matter I wouldn't have thought? Or you have direct stick? I do remember we went around and scraped from lumps off ourself but that was more where walls met the floor not thin layer spread on the ground Thank you again Simeon.. I will call my certifier for that. Have a good day 4 6721 Hello everyone, After some suggestions and ideas about how to put a concrete path around the drop edge beam area on our new build.
