I'm amazed at how many defects an inspector can find. I'm sure we'll all be interested to hear what items he picked up. I bet it is frustrating being so close and then you have to decide whether to postpone handover to resolve this. Being sensible rather than emotional would be difficult but advisable! I'll look out for these types of items. It looks cheap just like our mosaic pieces of glass splashback. Is yours in 1 or 2 pieces? Mine is in one piece - will double check tomorrow. How long is the bench, if it is longer than the max from caesarstone then it will need a join - a quick web search will tell you their max length. I remember our last house as we had waterfalls both ends I had to reduce our island slightly to avoid having a join. I think we had essastone though. One of them has a longer max width but can't remember which brand. I am slightly p#ssed now, I think all our leftover carpet (there was heaps) and floorboards have gone walkabout! Had plans for all of them... sassid ...building the Emporio with MainVue/Henley BLOG: http://thewaldorfproject.blogspot.com.au/ HOMEONE THREAD : https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75753 Re: Building the Emporio ER432 with MainVue / Henley 608Aug 16, 2015 9:09 pm I believe the max length for caesarstone is 3m long without a join. And 1.4m wide. But the glass splash back shouldn't have a join in the middle. Sassid, how did you go with the down pipes? Re: Building the Emporio ER432 with MainVue / Henley 609Aug 17, 2015 8:26 pm Conifers I believe the max length for caesarstone is 3m long without a join. And 1.4m wide. But the glass splash back shouldn't have a join in the middle. Sassid, how did you go with the down pipes? Down pipes still waiting for a solution. Confident that Henley SS and Others agree that it is an eyesore and will try to do the best they can to improve the appearance. On another note, brickies came back to wash some bricks, washed the ones in the completed garage internally and have made a big mess. Instead of using an alternate method to the high pressure spray - they have sprayed it and got the spray everywhere and flooded the garage. I think our houses would be built in half the time if the trades took more care doing their work, it seems every time a trade comes in or returns to fix something, they mess up something for another trade. The amount of work they could save themselves by trying to get the job done right the first time is staggering. Some trades are good but for many there has been a lot of facepalm moments sassid ...building the Emporio with MainVue/Henley BLOG: http://thewaldorfproject.blogspot.com.au/ HOMEONE THREAD : https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75753 Re: Building the Emporio ER432 with MainVue / Henley 610Aug 18, 2015 8:49 pm Hi Sassid, how are you feeling about your building inspector report findings? Building the Emporio ER432 with MainVue / Henley 611Aug 19, 2015 11:00 pm Vino0512 Hi Sassid, how are you feeling about your building inspector report findings? With time to digest did you settle on many major and/or mandatory items that you are pressing for? Hey vino, most of the things on the report are getting fixed, some of them we told them not to worry about like uneven gaps between three outdoor power points, and exterior flood light not centred. Figured it would make more mess moving them and digging into grout. Some bowed walls are getting fixed, the big ones upstairs are not as we probs won't notice it once furniture is in and don't want to cause more delays as it would entail ripping out heaps of framework and plaster and carpet and a window to be redone. My unlevel bath hob we did not worry about - not obvious to the eye and will take care on the super rare occasions we use the ensuite bath not to splash water everywhere as we did not want the time delay. Ended up bartering for other things to get done instead that would make it easier for us when we move in, and for some extra things to be painted and shelves moved. Garage roof definitely getting fixed. Crooked mirror, towel rails and chipped niche tiles (from using grinder not tile cutter) getting fixed hopefully with better results. We didn't have to push for anything as all errors were pretty much agreed upon. Our inspector was very thorough. The only thing that could not be done - a vent in the front living room was installed at the very edge of the roof could not be moved due to where the void it comes down in is located. I wanted to hang ceiling mounted curtains there but can't anymore. Pivot door chip and scratches to bottom sill (from door being opened off the runners) of timber double slider being fixed (not replaced) but will make sure fixed to our satisfaction. Facade lights off-centre are getting moved and SS said if render does not look good once my facade lights are in they will fix it (my exterior lights are narrow). Went there this afternoon and discovered internal garage door left wide open. Replacement shower rail for missing shower head and replacement door handle had been delivered and stairs were stained today. Lots of windows open for ventilation so I closed and locked the internal garage door. Emailed BC today and requested a variation for credit for horizontal grain match since it has not been completed. Also requested my leftover carpet and packets of flooring back or an insurance claim to be made to replace them. Was so angry that someone took them. Have not heard back yet from this one so will wait and see. My poor BC is probably having a crap week being inundated with work after being absent for a few weeks sick. I received email confirmation of handover. Not sure when I will see the final invoice. sassid ...building the Emporio with MainVue/Henley BLOG: http://thewaldorfproject.blogspot.com.au/ HOMEONE THREAD : https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75753 Building the Emporio ER432 with MainVue / Henley 612Aug 19, 2015 11:13 pm Here is down pipe fix stage 1 and stair stain 1st coat.. Re: Building the Emporio ER432 with MainVue / Henley 614Aug 20, 2015 6:39 pm Hi, sounds like things are well and truly under control. It's great to know that the inspectors do such a detailed job of noting things and as you mention, you can decide which are important enough to you to prioritise. I'm sure that final invoice won't be far away . The stairs look fab, is that the light stain? We went the dark stain and I think I need to change it... Re: Building the Emporio ER432 with MainVue / Henley 615Aug 20, 2015 10:29 pm Thanks yes love the stairs - stair stain is "Henley clear". Not sure of the timber but will try and find out.. I remember u mentioned ure going to do it outside buts was told they would allow install until handover? Re: Building the Emporio ER432 with MainVue / Henley 618Aug 22, 2015 6:13 pm Hi legarcia, yes flooring is through MainVue. We didn't want the hassle of doing it after handover, and going through MainVue means they have to have the floors level for it. They do have to have the floors level anyway but you won't notice uneven bits until after handover if you do your own flooring. sassid ...building the Emporio with MainVue/Henley BLOG: http://thewaldorfproject.blogspot.com.au/ HOMEONE THREAD : https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75753 Building the Emporio ER432 with MainVue / Henley 619Aug 22, 2015 8:37 pm Crazily trying to pack boxes while still living in a rental is a nightmare! Our appliances were delivered this morning yay! Constant stream of tradies over the past week. The tiler was back tonight fixing some things, niche tiles not able to be fixed as the tiles chip as soon as they are cut, he tried some white grout around the girls niche but did not help much. not much we can do about it. But, while he was there we got him to fill in the gap between the girl's shower and vanity. Makes a big difference - very happy with how it turned out.
