I have just spent nearly an hour drying the dishes I washed up this morning - took about 10 minutes to wash and then an hour to handdry (because I had thrown out my drying rack - but will be buying a new one today). The instruction book suggests that it is supposed to dry to dishes but it doesn't. I will be contacting M about this. Interestingly the only appliance no one explained to me how to use last Tuesday was the dishwasher. Another thing - be prepared for all the appliance boxes to be left anywhere around the house - I found the air-con box was left down the side of my house where I rarely go and I can't lift it so it will simply have to deteriorate there as it is too large and too heavy for me to move. After sales service so far - 1/10 - fixed one of two plumbing problems and made the other one worse - but haven't had the courtesy to return my call on that one yet and fixed the laundry lock but I am still waiting for the carpenter - expected last Tuesday - to fix one of the internal doors. With the dishwasher, you have to make sure that you use a rinse aid and that it is kept full(this is what dries your dishes),you also have a setting for that as well,it is located beside the compartment where you put your tablet,it is numbered 1-6,use the number 6 setting which is the highest and see how you go with that.We were also having the same problem, but not anymore. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 607Sep 30, 2012 2:11 pm Hi guys. Well the bottom floor has been done. OMG the rooms look small but the windows look huge! Weird . So I believe what I see around are the materials for the second floor so thinking that will be done next week. More pics on my thread. Enjoy your long weekend everyone. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 609Oct 01, 2012 8:56 am Hello all, I've just stumbled across this forum/thread and it is filled with heaps of stuff that is relevant to what I'm doing. My partner and I are also building with Masterton. We're going in to review the plans on Thursday. We are getting the Cello, pretty much exactly the same as the display home at Warwick Farm. I just need to make sure what they promised me originally is in the tender and that is carried over into the plans correct? I've also heard that you don't get a proper rangehood? It's just some kind of pull out one and if you would like a proper one it will cost extra and cost extra again to get the vent connected to it to go outside? Heard a similar thing with the portico area, that the slab doesn't cover it? and that will also cost extra to do? Is there anything else I should look out for or ask for? We went out to check the tiles at Don's tiles and we're basically quoted $160 a metre for ceramic tiles and labour, due to the fact that they need to do some kind of sand/cement base, wait for it to dry, make sure its level and then glue on the ceramic tiles? Is that right or are they telling me porky pies? Sorry about all the questions, but I'm so glad I found this forum!! You guys have either all done this already or are going through it at the moment! Support network big time!! Cheers, Matt Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 610Oct 01, 2012 9:39 am Hi Matt Welcome aboard! You will also find some information on the previous thread no. 2. So the rangehood depends on what package you get and it's recirculating. If you want it ducted to the outside it's about $500 I believe the portico standard isn't concreted as this is normally done as part of your driveway. That is correct what dons is saying is called screating ( not sure I spelled that right). This is because porcelain tiles don't have a rounded edge and they need to be perfectly level so you don't get a lip i.e. one raised a little higher. Really good tilers will always screet but it $$$$. If you do it after handover you can get labour at around half the cost. Just depends on wether u are prepared to do a bit of work after you get the keys. We r having M do everything as our jobs simply don't allow us the luxury of chasing up quotes etc so we were prepared to fork out the extra. All comes down to personal circumstances. Your range hood will vary depending on which package you go for. We have the platinum package but opted to upgrade to the westinghouse (Same as oven) glass canopy instead of the standard beaumatic which cost us an extra $210 and the external ducting was $590. Hope all goes well with your planning and selections. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 612Oct 01, 2012 11:37 am welcome, ah yes... you did the same thing I did, asked them to make the tender exactly like the display home... Didn't work out for me, they stuffed up my paper work, got things all messed up. If you are asking exactly like the display home, make sure you write all the differences down. You will be surprised at the little extras and how much they cost. Yes the rangehood, with how you described is an upgrade and yes so is the ducting to the outside. All of which is necessary in my opinion. The rangehood can be brought after handover and installed. Not a problem, I would recommend doing it this way. Whatever M offers you and for upgrades is a major rip off. Re tiles, yes, Don's quoted me something similar with screeding. They need it if you are having those big 600x600 tiles. It is a layer of sand and cement so the concrete is really flat, you definitely want to get it done if you are getting the big tiles. My tiles and labor all up cost $60 sqm. Way cheaper than whatever Don's was offering. And yes, the tiler is the same guy that Don's subs to. So same quality blah blah if I paid $160 with Don's, I just had to do some arranging and research. satsok Hello all, I've just stumbled across this forum/thread and it is filled with heaps of stuff that is relevant to what I'm doing. Good luck Interesting comment. Talking to CTM Tiles on the weekend (they are a tile supplier only), they stated that screating is not done when laying their porcelain 600mm tiles ever. They commened that if it was needed, then it would indicate a problem with your flooring and the quality of your slab. They said that all of the tilers they recommend use a special porcelain resin when laying, that is better for warmth, dirt and heat/cold. Costs more than a bag of sand and cement but tiles are laid straight away, with no need for raising floor levels, doors and kitchen cupboards etc. It also gives better movement properties. Like everything with building, it's hard to know who to trust and /or believe. However, with all the tiers I have asked for a quote from, they have all said 600x600 requires screeding, 600x300 does not. I asked about 5 tilers. Possible that the tilers are just saying it is needed because they want the extra work. pacificisis dsa39 Hi Matt I believe the portico standard isn't concreted as this is normally done as part of your driveway.
