I'll probably have fun until I see the costs 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ Re: M & C's First Build with HGWA - Eglinton 70Jul 07, 2017 3:34 pm I didn't see this thread on time! My thread has some prices that may have helped you plan in advance. The main things I would say: Laundry benchtop will be very handy Upgrade front door to a solid (if not already) - much more secure Place your 'included' power points on internal walls. It's quite easy to add more power points to external walls later on as you have the cavity and don't have to chase through brick/plaster. But you've probably already finished your prestart today haha - let us know how it went! First home builder - Brightwood Estate, Baldivis. Celebration Homes. Follow my build here Thanks for the suggestions! We actually already have solid external doors and garage door as we have a bushfire rating on our block and it is a requirement. And upgraded to the laundry benchtop too Re: M & C's First Build with HGWA - Eglinton 72Jul 07, 2017 6:39 pm Prestart was a long day today! But came in under budget with everything we wanted. When we got there we were greeted with good news, that our site works were (greatly) overestimated and we got credited so we had some more money to play with at prestart. We found out we already had included upgraded sinks in the bathrooms, and lots of inclusions due to a bushfire rating on the block (upgraded flyscreens, insulation, doors etc). We upgraded the laundry to have a benchtop, added a door to the rear access of garage through to the garden. Upgraded the front door and added some electrical. We also relocated some of the render on our elevation as we are required by our estate to have two different materials on our elevation. I'll add some photos of our selections later. But overall, a good day, with the expectation of earthworks to start in 6-8 weeks time! Re: M & C's First Build with HGWA - Eglinton 73Jul 07, 2017 6:43 pm That's great that you stayed on budget! Always easier when you negotiate a lot of inclusions before you sign. Now you can sit back and relax and wait for construction to start! Yup, we upgraded things such as hobless showers, double vanities etc in our contract which made it easier for prestart! I'm excited to see stuff finally start happening 🤞🏼 Re: M & C's First Build with HGWA - Eglinton 75Jul 07, 2017 6:49 pm m0llss Prestart was a long day today! Looking forward to seeing your selections. Just a small piece of advice... don't get too excited by their "6-8 weeks' till earthworks estimate. We had prestart with HGWA on the 5th May and are still probably 1-2 weeks away from any earthworks. There have been no delays from us or council etc. HGWA are just notoriously slooooooow with their admin processes. Hopefully the build process will be speedier! Scheduling commenced. 09/06/17- Developer Approvals received. 26/06/17- Council Building Permit received. Been two weeks since all approvals were received but we still wait for the admin process to be completed (apparently will be early next week). After that they will give us a start date (approximately 1-2 weeks after admin process is completed, dependent on weather). As I said... a very long and drawn out process. I am a little jaded by the ludicrously long process but am hoping my enthusiasm for the build will be sparked again once they finally start moving some dirt around. Sorry to be the bringer of frustrating news but I wish I'd known how long it was going to take. Maybe I would have been a little more patient if I'd been given more realistic timelines. hi guys.
