Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 62Jun 13, 2017 4:25 pm Ya i saw. Yours is beautiful as well. What is the name of that bricks. is it an upgrade from standard bricks? how much pay extra?? Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 63Jun 13, 2017 4:46 pm Our bricks are from Austral called Urban chiffon. When we selected them they weren't an upgrade but I think they are now so we didn't really pay extra for them. Thanks again for stopping by. Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 64Jun 13, 2017 4:56 pm good on you mate.. with Henley ..everything you need to pay. their standard inclusion isn't great. But we got Henley reserve. Still, lots of upgrades are required. Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 65Jun 16, 2017 9:12 pm 16 June 2017: Friday means update day and "check out what they did this week" day. Troy our SS who is very diligent in keeping us updated let me know that eaves were finished and painted, bricks were cleaned thoroughly and even our portico was painted in our selected colour. Love seeing our house evolve and again very grateful for the continuing action at the house. Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 66Jun 23, 2017 6:29 pm 23 June 2017: So time for our weekly update. Looks like we have slowed down to a a bit of a crawl. Not much happened on site this week despite the awesome weather that we have had. Grateful for small mercies though. The wood battens were installed above the portico and the scaffolding came down. We actually had the battens scheduled to be painted but looking at them now we aren't too sure if we still want them to be a different colour. The wood has come up looking absolutely great. Also now the scaffolding has come down we get a really good look at the shape of our "baby"! Love the look so far and we are LONGING to one day move in (hopefully before Christmas!). Till next time everyone, Happy Building! Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 67Jul 01, 2017 4:32 pm 1 July 2017: We have officially ended the first half of the calendar year and it looks like we are continuing to go along at a better pace this week. At the beginning of the week we had rubbish removed from the site which I am sure our house breathed a sigh of relief. Also on Thursday and Friday the remaining guttering and fascia was installed in preparation for the roof to go on either Tuesday or Wednesday as well as the final cladding for the first floor. We also have our fingers crossed for Electrical rough in on Thursday and Friday next week and maybe even Gyprock by around mid July! So many things planned for the next two weeks. Praying it all goes through on time. But enough of my ranting...bring on the pics I hear you say! Till next time everyone, Happy Building! Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 68Jul 12, 2017 6:15 pm 12 July 2017: It has been a couple of weeks since my last post so a few things to share. * Firstly our lower roof is still not finished. It is ready as of today to have the roof sheets put on. Not sure why it has taken this long but I do know that the roof trades are definitely in high demand. All materials are waiting, they just need to rock up! * As a result our cladding is still not completed as it is also waiting for the roof. Hopefully we get that done before the end of the week and at least before it starts to rain. * Electrical rough in is now complete which is great. * We got to go through the house with Aaron our site manager today and look at all of the positions of powerpoints and noggins etc. Aaron is super friendly and really easy to talk to so today was an absolute pleasure to do our pre-gyprock inspection with him. * Air con is also installed and ready to go. Obviously ducts and actual air con unit will be installed later but everything else is wired and ducted. * Downpipes and tweaks to the plumbing have also happened. * Full wiring of the house alarm system has also been fully installed. * They have started putting in the cavities for the cavity sliding doors and cleaned out the bottom half of the house so it looks absolutely spectacular! * Apparently gyprock delivery is now slated for next week with gyprockers starting soon after that. * Stairs are booked in for the 27 July so we have everything crossed that our stairs will go in as planned. We are very grateful for the continuing progress. As each day passes and as trades continue to progress on our site, we get closer and closer to our dream of being in before Christmas. Just a warning as I got pretty camera happy today. Till next time, Happy Building Everyone! Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 70Jul 22, 2017 7:13 pm 22July 2017: So another week has past and a few things have been done. We are still waiting on cladding to be finalised however we found out it was because there was no sarking in place. However this was rectified on Thursday so we should be good to go in the new week. The new back sliding doors were delivered as was all of the gyprock, cornices and skirting boards. The bulkhead was installed in the kitchen which would have cupboards installed underneath and the last cavity sliding door frame was installed in the studio. Also the meter box has been connected as well as the ceiling battens in the alfresco area. As a bonus, we went and had a quick squiz late this afternoon and found that they had worked all day to put in wall and ceiling insulation which means we are ready for gyprock installation! Too dark for pics but I will post later on. Love to see the progress. Really allowing ourselves to imagine the day we get those sweet keys in our hands! Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 71Jul 24, 2017 6:18 pm 24 July 2017: What a day! Went to the house this afternoon to find it a hive of activity. I know I should really post at the end of the week but I wanted to capture my excitement through the pics. Rainwater tank was delivered today which was great but the big news was that gyprocking started! Seeing spaces turn into rooms before our eyes is a great feeling. By the end of the week I think we will see a house transformed on the inside. I also have some pics of our insulation which was installed on Saturday. However I had to document all of the gyprock on the walls. And to prove it, I got an email asking for the next progressive payment saying that the linings are complete. What a change walls make. Got a call from our awesome site supervisor Aaron and he tells me that stairs are getting installed as we speak. So as soon as I can I get down there to check them out. They are not quite finished yet but to see these stairs in all their glory really fills us with so much happiness! Our SS is really doing a great job with the timing of all of our jobs. We can feel ourselves getting closer and closer to the finish line! Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 76Jul 28, 2017 10:04 pm 28 July 2017: This was probably the best week out of our whole build. I am amazed at how much has happened over just one week. I can't say enough how grateful we are to have an SS who really wants to push our build along. As usual, he gave me an update over the phone and informed me that the garage door was going in today. Of course I get down there to check it out and lo and behold the cornices on the ground floor have been installed. More plumbing had taken place around the water tank. But then, as we were leaving, we get another surprise. All of our doors are being delivered ready for another busy week next week. Head spinning and mind blown. Very thankful. Till next time everyone, Happy Building! Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 77Jul 31, 2017 12:34 pm Hi Krusade25, love your journey and all the updates. I have been following your thread for a while and first time to comment. It looks like a smooth journey so far with Better Built, when is the scheduled PCI from the contract? We have just finalized the floor plan with them and waiting for a tender presentation appointment Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 78Jul 31, 2017 1:21 pm Hi siusiufamily. Thanks so much for following and commenting. We have loved every stage of the process and we can't recommend Aaron (our site supervisor and co-owner of the company) enough. He has been very accomodating and has really pushed our build forward over the last month or so. Our contract for a two-storey house is 36 weeks which brings us to about middle of November but we have already had some extension requests due to rain delays which takes us towards the end of November. No official PCI date yet as it is too early but I like our chances of being in before Christmas. Neel at Oran Park is fantastic. Just be prepared for a long admin process (which is the same for any builder you go with) but they have been super professional the whole way through. Thanks again for following. Can I ask what plan you decided to go with? Warm Regards Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 79Jul 31, 2017 2:26 pm We decided the Astroia 39 but have made a few major changes on the floor plan. Neel is great in helping us to decide on our final floor plan. I will share the floor plan once I have them from Neel. I have already started feeling the long admin process as we were meant to receive our pre-tender list by last week but I still heard nothing till now, I will pertinently wait i guess Hopefully you can be in by Christmas time, would be great. Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 80Aug 03, 2017 9:37 am Oh the Astoria 39 is a beautiful house. I would love to see your modifications. We really loved the void areas of that plan and it really drew us to BBH build quality (in particular I loved the corner less stacker doors at the back!) Hang in there with the admin. Judging by the forums around here it could be far worse! Any advice on how to ensure the kit home granny flat that im thinking of buying will get council approval. The kit home companys wont release plans without a deposit and… 0 7928 Bigger the better for storage for me IMO. But I guess it's harder to tell the cost/benefit in your example - mainly the 'cost'? If you go 700mm, what are you doing extra… 2 3191 4 2270 |
