Browse Forums Building A New House Re: New HBC build in Baldivis Parks-SLAB!!! I win rain! 61Apr 14, 2015 9:19 am Thanks guys! Now to see how many days it takes for bricks to be delivered! The two houses before me in the estate (still third in line in terms of progress done!) got their bricks delivered really fast after slab down, hope mines the same! Re: New HBC build in Baldivis Parks-SLAB!!! I win rain! 62Apr 14, 2015 1:26 pm I love how positive you are with the size of the slab haha. When I first saw my slab went down, I thought my house was really small! ![]() My first build journey here https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71028 Re: New HBC build in Baldivis Parks-SLAB!!! I win rain! 63Apr 14, 2015 1:57 pm ![]() I love how positive you are with the size of the slab haha. When I first saw my slab went down, I thought my house was really small! ![]() Hahah i agree! I think with me, because ive been thinking the last couple of weeks how small my block and to expect the slab to look tiny, the reality is actually pretty good haha That and the sand slab actually did look tiny, whereas the concrete slab looks bigger, so im pretty happy haha. Re: New HBC build in Baldivis Parks-SLAB!!! I win rain! 64Apr 19, 2015 2:15 pm No progress this week in terms of the build. Hopefully (fingers crossed) i get an email regarding bricks being dropped off before April finishes ![]() Have managed to almost pick up all the little things i need to make the house a home. Think i only need appliances like a microwave, fridge + washing machine and furniture like couches and a dining table to go Given that im doing this on my own, i have to be careful how much i spend on these things. Could easily spend a couple of thousand on a couch but thats not really sustainable for me. In saying that, im starting to put away a couple of dollars a week (on top of expenses and interest repayments!) so that i can actually afford to buy the furniture i need. In terms of couches, i really like the prices on offer from Fantastic Furniture. In not really willing to spend more than $400 on a couch so Im tossing up between three options. This is what I was initially going to buy for the living room. Its a 2.5 seater and is $349. Could probably squeeze three butts on it. Colour would not be red though, most likely a darkish grey http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv342/cranberry_pudding/CAFSOF025SELACCRED-PD-1_zps0fns7jzq.jpg More recently, ive been thinking about the following two options. Colour choice is limited though so it would be either the beige or the chocolate brown (keeping in mind the floor is jarrah imitation, the kitchen cabinets are white and the kitchen benchtop is grey). The chaise is $399 and it is $398 for the two sofas together http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv342/cranberry_pudding/DQDCHSOOOQKDEUSMOC-PD-1-CONTAINER-original-FantasticFurniture-WF-Product-Detail_zpsg1arwjih.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv342/cranberry_pudding/DQDLOU22S-1-PD-1_zps2o6bqqhj.jpg Any thoughts? Re: New HBC build in Baldivis Parks-SLAB!!! I win rain! 65Apr 19, 2015 7:04 pm Wow it's really brave of you to do it by yourself jlo! We're like you and buying the stuff early so that we can have them for the new house.. We bought our furniture from minks and at home who've agreed to store it for us until we move in.. I don't know if they still have it but fantastic furniture at one stage have this really nice wave coffee table and it was pretty cheap too.. Do you need a coffee table? Lols Make sure you have a theme in mind so that when you buy stuff you know what you're looking for.. ![]() Building: The Maxum Builder: New Generation Homes Estate: Springtime Estate, Xavier ____________________________ Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=73924 Re: New HBC build in Baldivis Parks-SLAB!!! I win rain! 66Apr 19, 2015 7:06 pm The cream chase is nice.. The two brown chairs could make the area look small?!? We're getting a chase for our living area,. And if we happen to have extra guest we've got dining chairs that they can sit on.. It's not ideal but in the mean time why not hehe.. I win rain! 67Apr 19, 2015 7:22 pm I do still need a coffee table ![]() ![]() I hear you about the chaise v the two seater. That's what has me concerned regarding space and squeezing the two sofas in there. Other option was to keep one sofa for the living and one for the theatre. Considering they're pretty much the same price, might end up being a last minute decision because i love them both!!! Re: New HBC build in Baldivis Parks-SLAB!!! I win rain! 68Apr 20, 2015 11:48 am Sunny weather this week...great for the both of us! The slab does look smaller, but when the bricks start going up and a few walls and rooms are starting to be defined, you will get a better idea of the space....this is the case for us now. At first we thought...how are they going to fit all the rooms on the slab as it looks small lol...but now we know ![]() Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: New HBC build in Baldivis Parks-SLAB!!! I win rain! 69Apr 20, 2015 1:49 pm Thanks Hootie! You'll be in long before me though! Lucky you with bricks up! My parents house is almost exactly twice the size as mine and i remember looking at their slab thinking it was small, so i was under no illusions with mine haha. Sometimes it pays to be pessimistic, you feel better about the outcome! ![]() Re: New HBC build in Baldivis Parks-SLAB!!! I win rain! 70Apr 20, 2015 4:31 pm So i made what is turning into my weekly Monday afternoon trek to visit my block. Couple of small advances...
-portaloo + soakwells out front-never thought id be so excited to see a portaloo!!! -red markings on slab for internal wall placement -electricity has been set up -internal water piping has been cut down and sealed -two external pipes have been added (dad says its for sewage, i have no clue!) So yay for movement, even small steps is better than nothing! HBC seem to be pretty on the ball, mine is one of six slabs that i saw were down, 3 of which are HBC homes. The house next door to mine looks like its going to see some movement soon, land just got levelled. Hope i dont have any water stealing/rubbish issues from them!!! I would have to agree with the cream chaise too, think a lighter colour will look good against the darker floors! I love putting my feet up & lazing on my chaise at night ![]() Fingers crossed the bricks aren't too far away! Re: New HBC build in Baldivis Parks-portaloo excitement!!! 72Apr 21, 2015 9:09 am Thanks Jellbell! Seeing the markings where the walls will go on the slab has given me a bit more of an idea on the space in the living area...i think the chaise will fit nicely, might even "splurge" and pay an extra $100 for a slightly longer one that would sit more people. I think the double sofa will be way too crowded (like IssyandOzzy said), unless i do decide to put the second one in the theatre Re: New HBC build in Baldivis Parks-portaloo excitement!!! 73Apr 21, 2015 5:48 pm Wow jlo1990 just checked out your plans. Yeah, doing it alone does have its perks! Going to be a very girly looking house! Wait until you see bricks, I got ridiculously excited and I think my children thought I was going insane, lol. I really like the cream couch with the chaise. Definitely not a white couch though! Im already freaking about about buying a cream couch, even though that's the colour that will fit with the floor/living area best! Thanks for the opinion on the couch! Everyone is swaying me big time towards the chaise ![]() As for the bricks, is it sad that im getting disappointed at the end of everyday when i dont get an update email from HBC? ![]() Re: New HBC build in Baldivis Parks-portaloo excitement!!! 78Apr 23, 2015 8:03 am Hey Jlo I'm so happy for you that you have all this progress ![]() I really rather like the red couch if I'm honest! We have cream sofas, just the 2 of us no kids, and it is a bit of a nightmare to keep clean. But then we are partial to red wine ![]() I agree I think a chaise would be amazing and so comfortable! Have you looked at super amart at all? My parents bought a lounge set from them recently and they're very happy with it. Says it is comfy and looks solid - and it was very reasonably priced. When we were there last I bought an office chair from them which was nice enough but not amazing, so I guess it depends on the specific items! I know once the bricks get delivered itll be quick, its just waiting for that email haha In terms of the couch its hard. Im trying to stay with neutral tones with whites and blacks for the furniture, but as you can see from the first page of my thread, i have a jarrah imitate laminate in the living area-im worried if i go for a darker colour couch (grey/black) itll just make the room way too dark. Im thinking lighter might suit better? But i have no idea with colours, might be something i run past my sister, she's better at these things! I have checked Super Amart ![]() Re: New HBC build in Baldivis Parks-portaloo excitement!!! 80Apr 23, 2015 9:18 am I have the same - my sister is very clever with colours and interiors and her place always looks amazing! They're handy things aren't they, sisters? ![]() The jarrah is beautiful - I can understand how you'd be a bit hesitant with dark colours, I'll do my usual pinterest trawl lol and let you know if I see anything ![]() You'll probably look after your furniture much better than we do - and you can always use a throw or 2 to add colour/variety, but also to protect it! I know we did that when we were renting and the furnished house had cream Ikea sofas. It worked really well now that I think about it - Maybe I should blame the stupid leather cushions rather than the sofas hehe Hi, Would you please share some photos of your Orlando 20 HBC build? I would like to get some insight on the living and dining area. Thank you 0 1781 Fig Landscapes has produced an e-book and native plant index, available for purchase from their website.
