I'm surprised Coral aren't doing it for you but I guess it would be more expensive anyway so probably not terrible. I'm having weather delays too The rain needs to hold off for just a couple of weeks! I feel your pain. Just when you think things will start moving. Fingers crossed it's only a 2 week delay. Yes I said to my hubby now I know why I felt like it wasn't happening just yet haha We managed to get someone in to dig the trenches this afternoon but they dug in the wrong spot so they had to fill it in and re dig and im not sure if they got that finished before daylight was gone. But it was amazing to see the water draining into the trench so I'm glad it happened because now at least we will have that extra drainage under the ground. viewtopic.php?t=76386 Re: Another Daydream 30 Coral Homes Build :-) 67Mar 31, 2015 6:35 pm Wow that's pretty good you were able to get someone so quick! Let's hope the water keeps draining and it works Re: Another Daydream 30 Coral Homes Build :-) 68Mar 31, 2015 6:49 pm cubshome Wow that's pretty good you were able to get someone so quick! Let's hope the water keeps draining and it works Yes we were suprised we could get someone tomorrow then they had a guy finish earlier on a job just down the road from our block so they said they could send him. Now we just have to arrange a truckload of rock to place in the trenches. Not really impressed that they have put this on us to organise and our sales consultant said she would tell us to call our construction manager but he is on holiday. And our ss goes on holiday next week. Lol. Joys of starting a build at easter I guess haha viewtopic.php?t=76386 Re: Another Daydream 30 Coral Homes Build :-) 69Mar 31, 2015 6:52 pm Didn't they just have 6 weeks off over Christmas!? My house is definitely more important than their holidays viewtopic.php?t=76386 Re: Another Daydream 30 Coral Homes Build :-) 71Apr 01, 2015 2:28 pm I must have only half read this when you first put it up and it wasn't until I read about your hold up in the main thread that I came in here and read it properly Did you get your trenches dug last night? I'll be interested to see how our builds compare - we won't be starting for another week or so either due to our wall (which we thankfully knew we had to do). It must be frustrating to think you were finally starting and then get an unexpected delay like this On the bright side, you'll have excellent drainage around your pad now which will help protect the slab Follow my Coral Daydream 28 build: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72384 Re: Another Daydream 30 Coral Homes Build :-) 72Apr 01, 2015 5:10 pm Mellywil I must have only half read this when you first put it up and it wasn't until I read about your hold up in the main thread that I came in here and read it properly Did you get your trenches dug last night? I'll be interested to see how our builds compare - we won't be starting for another week or so either due to our wall (which we thankfully knew we had to do). It must be frustrating to think you were finally starting and then get an unexpected delay like this On the bright side, you'll have excellent drainage around your pad now which will help protect the slab Yes the guy who dug them dug 2 of the trenches in the wrong spot and managed to get one filled in and re-dug yesterday and he went back today to fix the other trench. I didn't think he would because the weather is horrible but apparently it made it easier for him to see that it's working. We have to wait a few days before we can fill them in with rocks and put the dirt back over it apparently and then we have to wait 2-3weeks for the block to drain and hopefully dry enough. We were just gutted because piering and hstp was booked for Tuesday and they were hoping slab the week after and now that won't be happening. It will definitely be interesting to compare our builds. Our ss gave us an approx build time of 16 weeks, well that was before our dramas so I'm taking that forward to at least 18 weeks now haha Which means I won't be in for my birthday like I wished in July. Oh well I'll have plenty more birthdays in the house I suppose lol viewtopic.php?t=76386 Re: Another Daydream 30 Coral Homes Build :-) 73Apr 01, 2015 9:19 pm I was wondering how you guys went after we had so much rain over night, glad you got the trenches done hopefully it was a blessing in disguise for you to sort your drainage early on to save your dramas down the track Re: Another Daydream 30 Coral Homes Build :-) 74Apr 01, 2015 9:22 pm MrBee I was wondering how you guys went after we had so much rain over night, glad you got the trenches done hopefully it was a blessing in disguise for you to sort your drainage early on to save your dramas down the track Yes that's definitely how we are looking at it. It's actually funny because our builder friend had actually said to us when we first bought the block that it was something we could do if we had water on the block. So it's kind of forced us to do something we had considered already. Our friend stopped by and took some videos for us to show the trenches are working so that's great. Now we just have to hope the rain stops enough so we can get the rock delivered and then put in the trenches. viewtopic.php?t=76386 Re: Another Daydream 30 Coral Homes Build :-) 75Apr 02, 2015 8:20 am Well we're hoping for a rain free long weekend (unlikely) too so with all those fingers crossed maybe we'll get lucky. 16 weeks?!?!? I hope so! Our SS and Construction Manager couldn't be talked into estimating a build time for us. I'd be beyond stoked if it was 16 weeks. I'm just hoping to be in before the Sept/Oct school holidays. I don't think I could do two more full terms so far away from the kid's schools and sports - it's exhausting. Lol And yes our ss asked us if we had been given a build timeframe and we said no (even though our sc had told us about 12 weeks) and he said that's good because people were being given unrealistic build times. He said I can build you a house in 12 weeks but can't say it will be the best quality so we asked what is a realistic timeframe and he said more like 16 weeks. Our lease is up in August so I just want it to be done by then lol viewtopic.php?t=76386 Re: Another Daydream 30 Coral Homes Build :-) 77Apr 02, 2015 7:19 pm Normally I love rain but while I'm building... rain GO AWAY! here's a pic of my mudpit Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ viewtopic.php?t=76386 Re: Another Daydream 30 Coral Homes Build :-) 78Apr 02, 2015 7:21 pm I feel your pain!
