Custom build on 40 acres - DH's house warming present

The last of my selections are for the laundry, not as exciting as a kitchen or bathroom I know!

Plans are below. You may think it a little weird that we have a blank space under the bench in the corner but is reserved for our dogs. We did this in our last house, we put a dog mattress there and it worked perfectly -very spoilt dogs loved their little cave.

There is a window above the sink but it is not shown on the plans

We chose a sink with a mini drain, it looks very practical

All cupboards are Formica gloss "Rock Salt"

Benchtop is Laminex Diamond gloss "Venetian Marble"

Floor tiles are going to be the same brown as the bathrooms. Splashback will be 300x600 tiles as below

The big blank wall is reserved for a decent sized coat, hat and shoe rack. The whole laundry idea is a combined laundry/mud room since we are on a property and own a dam and two Staffies who love to swim in it and also roll in anything smelly. I have a few ideas, will post them shortly when I find the images.

We initially had the kitchen company quote for a shoe, coat and hat rack but when they came back with a quote of $1500 we decided to source one ourselves.

Ikea have quite a few options, there is two that I am looking at.

Option 1 - I have a choice of colours, brown or white. I was thinking of getting two to put side by side to fit the wall

Option 2 - Same colour choices and again I would get two so it is bigger. The shoe racks in the picture are extra wide, I can get shoe racks that are the same length as the hat racks so the whole thing is the same width.

Either of these will cost around $300 for two sets, much more reasonable. I am torn between which one to choose :th:

does anyone have a preference?

"Dog cave"- did the same with our previous build, but sadly now with only one, he sleeps beside our bed!!

The first one looks like it might have a wider shelf? If so, maybe the wider one would be the best?

I am crossing my fingers that when I return home this afternoon that SOMETHING (ANYTHING) has been done on the house today. We have nearly clocked up a 2 month hold on the build due to issues with the windows that were installed just before the Christmas shut down. Some of the windows were not manufactured correctly which meant that a few of them were not square, so when everyone started up work again in January we had to sort the issue out before we could go any further with the external cladding. Since the cladding had to be wrapped around the windows, we didn't want to continue with the cladding if some of the windows had to be replaced. After a few tense weeks thankfully the window company came good and agreed to replace all the windows that were not right

and today is the day they are to be delivered and replaced ::praying::

Hopefully we can then move on to the build.........

omg you poor thing, what a stuff around! Ive heard similar stories of people choosing and ordering tiles and then being told a few months later that they are discontinued! It would be a very upsetting and frustrating time especially if your heart was set on that particular product. I will take all this experience on board and be taking home whatever i choose and pay for i think. I dont think i could deal with the heartbreak....LOL

Yes very good advice! I assume you are referring to the vanity? Cause I had a similar thing happen to my tiles, I think I may have mentioned it on someone else's thread but not here.

Things have finally started again on the house. Our replacement windows have arrived so the cladding guys can now finish wrapping the house.

We now have the worlds biggest esky!

Thanks Bonnie. I certainly don't miss the suburbs that's for sure! Looking forward to some grass though, but that's way down the track .....

Not just the colour -it is an esky :::

this layer is the same type of polystyrene as used in the old eskys.

A bit of bare dirt around the place... get yourself some Jap Millet seed around the place, as that grows fast, and binds the soil together for when it rains.

Normal grass/lawn will compete with it, and eventually the good lawn will over run it.
