Browse Forums Building A New House Re: White Design and Construction 61Aug 22, 2015 11:19 pm Are they starting work today? Have you received your home warranty?[/quote] Hi firsthome2, no, excavation didn't start on Thursday, I had to move them to Tuesday next week, not WDC's fault, I've been having all sorts of problems with the demolisher (which I've engaged myself). Taking forever to knock down the existing house. The construction manager has been helpful in meeting me on site twice at short notice, giving the demolisher instructions and keeping them on their toes a bit. No home warranty insurance and CC, as I need to get the land clearance certificate from the demolisher first. Now let's just hope the weather holds up. Re: White Design and Construction 62Aug 22, 2015 11:50 pm Thanks. I am still waiting on the HOW. It has been 6 weeks since I signed the contract. I am drained at the moment, the excitement of building a house is slowly evaporating. The way things are going, it may never happen. 18/03/15 Deposit 02/09/15 CDC 22/09/15 Slab 05/12/15 Frames 15/12/15 Brick started. 11/04/16 Roof start 04/05/16 Roof finish 09/07/16 Gyprock. Re: White Design and Construction 63Aug 23, 2015 10:30 pm firsthome2, did WDC give you a reason why it's taking this long for your HOW? I understand they were under restriction from the insurance company, but surely, they should be able to tell you when your file is sent through to insurance. I know how you feel, I almost gave up twice. It was really frustrating trying to get in contact with WDC, I was leaving messages, calling mobile and office, sending emails but would not hear back for a whole week. Re: White Design and Construction 64Aug 23, 2015 11:12 pm When I signed signed the contract in July, I was promised that we should get the HOW within two weeks. Last couple of weeks had been passed with meeting the broker/ waiting to get one more certificate, should know more this evening/ tomorrow. All hopes have turned into despair. When I started the process early this year, I was told that we should have the site scrape by April and finished by Sept. I will be sweating thinking about it if I said something that I can't deliver. No wonder I am not in that field. I am so naive and believed what was told. 18/03/15 Deposit 02/09/15 CDC 22/09/15 Slab 05/12/15 Frames 15/12/15 Brick started. 11/04/16 Roof start 04/05/16 Roof finish 09/07/16 Gyprock. WDC started on site last Friday, excavation was done that day. This Monday they did the piers, the plan is to pour the slab next Wednesday. So from now to next Wednesday, they'll have to put down the waffle pods and steel. Pretty impressed with their speed since they took over the site. The weather has been kind lately, hope it stays that way. Re: White Design and Construction 70Sep 03, 2015 11:02 pm ksama0079 hey guys, bit of updates from me. It took me a couple of months after land registration in Feb-15 to get my contract signed which was on 8th of July this year. Probably they were sorting out the home warranty issue with other clients during that period. Just to be fair, some of their suppliers also confirmed that WDC has been affected by the restriction. As much as I'm worried about the delay, I'm trying to be patient with the hope that the issue will be sorted out soon. Re: White Design and Construction 72Sep 04, 2015 9:20 pm Hi Dilip, I believe the issues WDC had with the insurance are getting sorted, so keep your hopes up. Bit more update on my progress. Talked to the construction manager and was informed the pipes, waffle pod and reinforced steel are all laid and all is ready for slab pour. Going to meet him on Tuesday. I really want to start my own build thread, but I'd be lucky to go on site once a week, so don't have many photos. Re: White Design and Construction 73Sep 04, 2015 11:20 pm Dilip, just be patient, you have waited this long, it is just matter of days before they sort the HOW and start work on your site. Ksams079, they have gotten to slab stage for you very quickly. They should have done site scrape on my land today, will drop by tomorrow and have a look. Not sure how many days before they will get to slab stage. It is good that we are all progressing. 18/03/15 Deposit 02/09/15 CDC 22/09/15 Slab 05/12/15 Frames 15/12/15 Brick started. 11/04/16 Roof start 04/05/16 Roof finish 09/07/16 Gyprock. I have slab as well, waiting for the frames to go up. 18/03/15 Deposit 02/09/15 CDC 22/09/15 Slab 05/12/15 Frames 15/12/15 Brick started. 11/04/16 Roof start 04/05/16 Roof finish 09/07/16 Gyprock. Re: White Design and Construction 76Sep 30, 2015 8:05 pm Hello All, I have been in discussions with WDC recently to build a house. I have been assured by them that "all" has been sorted with their insurances and the backlogs cleared. I know they are a small to medium sized builder, so I do see the usual delays in responding to emails/calls, which I am ok to tolerate to a certain extent with as long as the work gets done without any major delays and the end product is the same or better than a master builder. Would appreciate any feedback/experiences that you wish to share and I should be aware of before I commit. Thanks Re: White Design and Construction 77Sep 30, 2015 9:45 pm I am happy for you to check my thread to see the progress and timelines Re: White Design and Construction 78Oct 02, 2015 9:54 am Hi Everyone, I was promised excavation will commence this week which still hasn't happened. I've paid in my 5% contract deposit as well and still waiting to receive my HOW certificate. Does anyone have any updates from WDC on where they stand regarding new projects and outstanding HOW certificate? Thanks very much! And would the landscaper/contractor generally involve the engineer or is that something the client would do?
