I've been waiting for the weekly update for a couple of days lol Did you ask for the handles on the bathroom cabinets to be positioned differently to the ensuite? Picking handle positions gave me a headache. Thanks Ari, Ive been a little busy with other things. Honestly we didn't advise them of the position of the handles at all. Except for the kitchen ones where the overhead cabinets had an underlip instead of handles. But now that you mention, they have made the laundry o'/h cabinets without handles too....didnt realise that! Besides how would one position the handles in the bathroom and ensuite cabinets differently? laundry pic Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: First home build with MainVue - Amalfi532 63Aug 20, 2013 4:56 pm To me the ones in the bathroom look like they aren't centred. They look positioned closer to the side the door opens from. Whereas the ones in the ensuite look centred on each door. Maybe that's just the photo? lol I thought you must have positioned them like that. You're right though, cant see any reason why they didn't center them Re: First home build with MainVue - Amalfi532 66Aug 20, 2013 5:19 pm Ari I think the laundry ones are the same. Its a bit hard to tell though. Do they look like that on your plans? There ain't any handles in the drawings at all. I reckon the ensuite handles just happen to be centered, but otherwise they seem to have gone with logic of locating the handles closer to the opening side of the door. The drawer handles are centered everywhere. Re: First home build with MainVue - Amalfi532 68Aug 20, 2013 5:26 pm Ari That's weird. They should be on the plans. Gives you an "in" if you want them changed to all the same though. Thats a good point another thing to add to the list when i meet our SS this Thursday (will be meeting him for the 1st time), should i take something along....a case of beer or maybe, baseball bat? Re: First home build with MainVue - Amalfi532 70Aug 20, 2013 5:33 pm Ari Nah just a note pad and pen with a list of issues and a friendly but take no crap attitude. I'll be happy to settle for that fact that they fix all the issues pointed out in the building inspection report, a bunch of stuff apart from the frame issues are still not fixed, though im assured that they will be before PCI. Re: First home build with MainVue - Amalfi532 72Aug 20, 2013 6:03 pm Nothing major which can't be fixed, but would have preferred if they worked on those simultaneously. My fear is that any rework, if required after PCi might not be dealt with promptly. Re: First home build with MainVue - Amalfi532 73Aug 20, 2013 9:36 pm Is it because the ensuite cabinets are slimmer? They can't really offset those handles because they're almost the size of the door, whereas the bathroom cabinet doors seem wider. - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. I reckon your's is a very similar colour, just a different texture, from the laminex website yours looks like a having a matt finish? whereas our looks in reality looks quite glossy (glossier than i envisaged actually) having said that our flooring is very close to the colour of our lower cabinets, so hopefully they all gel together. We plan on getting bamboo flooring and I have to admit that my wife picked all the colours I only nod my head and say yes :S Re: First home build with MainVue - Amalfi532 77Aug 26, 2013 4:24 pm txateu yes my lower cupboards are matt finish to contrast our floors. Bamboo would be nice, where you getting them from? what shade? We are sourcing the hornblende shade from http://www.tectonicfloors.com.au/ Re: First home build with MainVue - Amalfi532 78Aug 28, 2013 3:11 pm So last week, I met Joe (our SS) for the first time. I had mixed feelings about what experience would be like…should I take a diary to take down some notes or a base-ball bat in case things got heated?…nah just kidding! The meetup went better than I imagined. He took me through the house in detail, explaining what work was completed, addressed all the issues that were pointed out in the inspection report. A good 1.5 hours later I returned quite satisfied with the entire process. I’d highly recommend Last week the kitchen guys were in there installing the stone in the kitchen, along with that expensive sink (which costs more than 2 dishwashers, it better clean dishes twice as well). The skirtings were getting installed and so was the render on the façade. The timber veneer on the façade was also installed. Laundry and Main door were delivered. This week the tiles were getting delivered, the plasters were going to be patched and sanded for the painters to start. The silly me didn't take any pictures while I was in there on the weekday, but we took a couple on the weekend from the outside. Did some furniture shopping, bought dining chairs and kitchen stools and a WW2 Aero rotor to go on the entry wall. Thanks ES, the sun gives the grey render a pretty good look! I should probably leave it like that, the colour we selected for the angled porch is reasonably dark, hoping it does end up looking like a cave Congrats.
