I know it's not really exciting news (or any news really) but it feels like things are finally starting to turn around and go our way a little bit - so it's exciting for us ::wornout::

It's been a week of small victories for us so I'm really excited...

First things first. We were told we would need to put $6000 in at settlement, but now becuase we've paid the 10% on the block and the builder's 5% deposit we actually will get quite a substantial amount paid back to us at settlement

Furniture shopping here I come :lol:

Also I've been a busy girl emailing and making phone calls and trying to get some sort of compensation for this whole debacle and guess what?? SUCCESS! We've managed to negotiate a further 2.5k off our block (we already negotiated quite a few thousand off the price when we were trying to buy the block). ::celeb::

So happy right now....

Good work negotiating money off the price of your land!! Considering the extra mortgage costs and if your builder penalises you any, it is definitely worth it. Well done!!

I know I'm getting ahead of myself but I'm thinking about landscaping :shock:

I've have come up with this. There will be a bit of retaining from the front yard to the house (house is just below street level), and possibly more retaining at the back of the house - I'm not sure about that though. Guess I'll have to wait and see what it looks like when we actually have a house ::wornout::

Those bright green bits in the front are existing trees that we're not allowed to remove and the two big trees at the back are really tall old gums. Thoughts????

Is the black line at the front (in front of the path) the retaining wall?
If so, why don't you put the little garden thing directly behind it, rather than on the angle, then there will only be one piece of lawn to mow out the front instead of two little pieces.

I had thought of your suggestion bobbin, I just thought this might look a little more interesting - I figure if we have the angle along the front of the block we may as well make the most of it. I'm plannning on getting one of those old school man powered lawn mowers so hopefully I'll (or the OH :roll:

) be able to lug it over the stones without causing too much damage :shock:

I got an email today saying that the subdivision is being submitted to the titles office either today or tomorrow :z:

Aaahhh, I thought my afternoon couldn't get better - but just before 5.00 I got an email from our conveyancer saying we've got settlement booked in for March 16 :shock:

That's only 2 weeks away :z:

I've called the builder to let them know so they can re-book the slab, and I tried to get onto our mortgage broker to organise settlement but she was out of the office. I'm all jittery. It's so exciting :lol:

Imagine what I'm going to be like when it actually settles.... :roll:
