Re: Built on a corner block in Melbourne. Moved in pics 562Oct 25, 2016 6:07 pm I'm not allowed to have a front fence! So strange about all the different restrictions that each developer has! Re: Built on a corner block in Melbourne. Moved in pics 563Oct 26, 2016 4:00 pm No we're not either but think we are allowed garden fencing that you can see through Build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81011 Re: Built on a corner block in Melbourne. Moved in pics 564Oct 26, 2016 5:38 pm It is odd. We HAVE to have a front fence, and it has to be rendered brick.. (the most expensive!). Yeah, my builder is building the 5 rendered brick pillars for $4.6k, assuming it will cost another 1-3k to get the aluminum slats installed. Re: Built on a corner block in Melbourne. Moved in pics 565Oct 26, 2016 9:28 pm So strange! I have to have colourbond fencing which is much more expensive than timber, and I don't even like colourbond fences!! Re: Built on a corner block in Melbourne. Moved in pics 566Oct 28, 2016 9:10 am Got our first power bill for just over a months usage, $50! What the, that can't be right surely! Moved in pics 570Oct 29, 2016 8:45 pm Charley, that isn't that bad I didn't think for a month if electricity... if you multiply that by 3 you've got $150 per quarter for electricity. That seems very cheap? - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Built on a corner block in Melbourne. Moved in pics 571Nov 01, 2016 5:31 pm Yes will be interesting to see bill next time. Not unless having solar hot water, upgrading ducted heating, double glazed windows, 12v lighting, standard height ceilings and not being a huge home does make that much difference, time will tell. Moved in pics 578Nov 10, 2016 8:37 pm ^^ Looks way better than concrete. I'm not too sure but I think they recommend concreting around the house to help prevent water getting under your slab. Building-expert or StructuralBIM might be able to give you some advice. I could be totally wrong. Builders have used landscaping and drainage to get out of structural warranty claims. Your house & landscaping look great! I can't wait to be at the point, still waiting for land to title . Re: Built on a corner block in Melbourne. Moved in pics 579Nov 11, 2016 5:09 am Yes we thought of pavers and pebbles too, that would be better than garden. The only reason we wanted concrete was to protect the slab as it has a slight run off so the water runs away from the slab. Ours is 750 wide except the front of the house as that is 1m wide as we wanted it to line up with portico. To save on costs we only got coloured concrete at front of house and plain concrete everywhere else. Build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81011 I haven’t. But have a Lowe Design home.
