Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 5383Jun 14, 2015 9:44 pm MGardz Damn, 8.2 does say contract commences on the date that the builder is obliged to commence the building works (I assume the 20th day so for us 3 July 2015) because it then Says they can start before the contract period commences. Well that's not fair...they have until June next year so back to thinking March for keys It's all about the builder not the people investing money... Can't remember our clause Mgardz but it was same as yours .... Contract day 1 is the end of the 20 day countdown, irregardless of the start date. Our contract period ..... 200 days (working days that is!). On a positive note ... Although i whinged & whined (& still do!) about how slow M were .... Keys were about contract day 150 of 200 .... So they were certainly not "slow" contractually! We have to be careful not to be too harsh ..... Of the 5 builds i was following in my area (all different builders) ... We were the first (& are still!) the only ones in (although i think one has hit handover, but chosen to wait a bit before moving in). And to cheer all of you up (kind of), 2 of my best mates just embarking on an owner builder experience (!!! Yikes) are having to wait well over a month to be slabbed ... The concreter they chose ages ago is super busy, still has storm backlog ... Even suggested they seek an alternative, they got quotes, met a... Holes, and have decided to wait. Moral to story .. M is slow, others are slower, & doing it youself unfortunately isn't necessarily faster ... Tradies are tradies ....! Owner builder next door designed his own house and building himself and he's up to bricking now. MDJ next door is also full steam ahead and Rawson behind us also up to bricks...us nothing lol hopefully this arvo there will be something Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 5387Jun 15, 2015 11:57 am biting fingernails and watching out the window at work every 5 minutes ..... 4 bricklayers on site today to do our brick retaining walls - and the rain is due to set in any minute and continue ALL week!!! Just hoping they get the bulk of it done before the rain sets in, otherwise we are in for a long muddy wait ....... 2013 1st tender 24/10 Dep. 18/11 2014 5% 25/02 CDC approval 5/5 Demo 26/5 Pool 3/7 Valid'n 10/7 Slab 11/8 Frame 19/9 Bricks 23/10 2015 Roof 3/12 Lock up 11/2 PCI 31/3 Final insp. & keys 30/4 Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 5388Jun 15, 2015 6:29 pm Villinaeliters - I'm seeing Blackheath bricks popping up around our way. Think it's Austral? Great idea for the note board. I think I'll steal that!! Love your pictures but all of this progress from everyone is making me jealous booo lol we definitely do hate the variation costs don't we and the limited companies we have to deal with. Marina12 - How's the kitchen window issue going? Ask your SS as often as you think is reasonable to have a walk through. Each house is different, each owner is different and each build is different. Do what makes you comfortable as you're spending heaps of money and if it's too often I'm sure your SS will tell you. Mgardz - So happy to hear construction is imminent I agree... our sales person we loved at the time but now we can see that he's to blame for our plans not reflecting our desired (and paid) ceiling heights etc. He should've picked up on it. GillyM - Lol we went onsite recently and lo and behold there on the floor of our powder room were our plans Haven't seen them since. Ggml - 7th time lucky? Bleaky and shell90 and others - Great progress! Wow you got to meet the SS's supervisor or is that normal?? Just curious, how big are people's houses?? We had a look at pendant lights on the weekend... it's going to be one very long process!! Nothing jumped out at us for above island bench. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 5389Jun 15, 2015 6:39 pm How are they going to get that sticker? That little vent... why isn't it a darker colour? I don't want it to stand out. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Batts have been delivered. Hopefully they won't get wet though as our build has stopped. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Should we be worried? There's a tear in the aluminum in the air con stuff (having mental block!) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The stuff up... holes cut too close to edge?? This is why build has halted. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 5390Jun 15, 2015 7:08 pm I don't know if it's normal?! I think he just came along for the trip! Lol. I hope they can reach up and get that sticker because they still need to reach up and re paint our downpipes and finish eaves lol! And I agree about the vent, ours is white too. But I don't think they stand out too much! So the holes for the aircon were cut too close the the edge? It must be a support issue or something? Is there any word on how they will rectify?
