Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 521Mar 14, 2014 10:21 pm Looks great UpsizeTime! At least you can peek through the fence to watch progress even if access is difficult. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 523Mar 15, 2014 9:02 pm BigMama OMG! Why and how does that happen. What did you do, think that would have killed us. Did you expect it. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 524Mar 15, 2014 9:20 pm HousesforMouses Mars78, We looked at Kelllyville! There seemed to be some really nice pieces of land there but we decided it was a bit out of our budget. It's a bit sad the trees are going but I suppose that helps with BAL requirements and depending on your aspect it may give you more sun. We are close to a nature reserve so we've got high BAL and I have been trying to figure out whether we'll have limited sun. Whereabouts are you building HousesforMouses? We still have a fair amount of bush as we are on the narrow ridge between the valleys of Cattai and Smalls Creeks which will be conserved. The best aspect of this is the cool afternoon breeze from the South East, which is noticeable on warm days. Big Mama, I almost fell off my chair when I read your post about $30,000 slab and piering costs! You must have quite a difficult build site. Hope you were prepared somewhat for that. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 525Mar 16, 2014 4:36 pm Dear Upsize and Mars, No we didn't expect it at all and what can you do? You just have to wear it. Our block isn't difficult at all, it is flat as a tack. We have sandy soil so they upgraded our slab and all our piering, and we are only building single storey so it would have been even more expensive building a double. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 526Mar 16, 2014 7:18 pm Yes I suppose you have to wear it but that could sink a few people, me included I think. BigMama, what stage are you at now? Would love photos of your progress. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 530Mar 19, 2014 5:53 am UpsizeTime, your slab looks great! How exciting! Mars78, we're building in 'Mulgoa rise' which is pretty much Glenmore park. It is a nice area and we are close to the nature reserve. Looking forward to having a backyard but there are a lot of plans and approvals to get through before the build starts. I like seeing what we have to look forward to through others posting. Or what to look out for... Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 531Mar 20, 2014 5:55 pm Mars how's your build going? Have to say I am loving this part of the process. Went again today and they have done the external plumbing and electrical. Frame stage next, it is going to start looking like a house. The house down the road is still at the pre slab stage, they just had their internal plumbing done. That has taken nearly 4 wk from excavation to pre slab. K has done it in 9 days. Hope the rest continues. Only disadvantage is the construction loan is going up quickly. Lol! Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 532Mar 20, 2014 8:09 pm Upsize, I too have been going past the block everyday. Unfortunately only thing to report is a portable toilet! I think yours took 3 days from slab framework until slab. So that means Monday most likely. I got a call today about electrical and gas connections, so things are moving. There are 2 other houses started in the estate. I'm quietly confident that Kurmond can overtake the one which started before us. The other has just got the slab footprint marked out. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 533Mar 21, 2014 10:05 am These slabs are looking good...we can't wait to have one of our own It is great to see the speedy progress. It makes up for all the waiting time from the admin stuff. Upsize - our plans are still in council for a few more weeks I guess, so no photos yet. Mars - oh, the Portaloo...the most important part of the site. Good luck to everyone else. How are you progressing? Hey Carak, how are things with you? Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 535Mar 23, 2014 5:17 pm Your slab looks great. Funny how you are just a few days behind us. The race is on hahaha. It will be interesting how it all goes. From memory yours was the sienna? Single storey. Whereas ours is a custom Glenleigh. So single vs 2 storey. Lol! Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 537Mar 23, 2014 7:38 pm No, did you? We haven't asked. I was only going off the 39wks in the contract. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 539Mar 24, 2014 7:33 pm Wow that's awesome, 16wks is nothing! good luck with that. I'm going to get DH to ask. This rain isn't helping though. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 540Mar 26, 2014 7:23 am Sixteen weeks is very fast! That'd be very nice for you mars78. I hope you get a proper completion date too upsize. We are still waiting on first plans. We were told we'd get them Yesterday so we've sent a reminder. I am so keen to just go through them and address all the notes from the 'things you forget' thread. And adjust the layout in the 3D modelling program. Super nerd! I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 109206 Hi there!
