Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 5081May 28, 2015 10:03 am Thanks for the replys. We are going to use Ark for the plantation shutters and back rioller blind so I'm glad they are getting good reviews I'm still not sure about going ahead with the security doors or finding someone after handover. We may have to organise some more quotes. Brettbrett- I have the price list for electrical but im unsure how to upload pictures on home one. If there's any pricing you want in particular I may have the price. We ended up doing a few too many upgrades! Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 5083May 28, 2015 2:03 pm Brettbert there's lots of pricing info on my blog https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpres ... our-build/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 5084May 28, 2015 2:44 pm MGardz. What a fantastic blog it is too. I will use your electrical as a guide. Were there any other upgrades available? Let me know what you need I have the full list in my file. We opted to do much of it post hand over (M's prices are too expensive! I think TNC2004 had some cool power point selections and electronics on his blog too) as we sourced a good supplier in fact its the one im going to post below as redwynne i saw a similar pendant on there for a more affordable price. Have a look on that supplier brettbert as if you find good downlights etc you can compare whether its worth M doing it or doing it after handover. Hubby can install ours so thats what we went for Redwynne: http://www.northernlighting.com.au/prod ... hting.aspx Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 5086May 28, 2015 8:42 pm Hi everyone great to see everyones progress MGardz- hopefully not too long before you see a fence on yours Our SS said our frame will be delivered next Tuesday very excited I am still waiting about whether to change my selection of aircon to suit single phase power as at selections we had selected one suited to three phase power we found out we dont have on our site. We are waiting to see how much the power company will charge to bring it from across the road as this is not included in the tender. Did anyone in an older area have this same issue. If so which aircon did you go with for single phase power thanks KDR. I hear they are good ... But you can easily find much cheaper. Ark contacted me about 3 months ago to follow up, i forwarded my quotes & said if you can match, i'll go with you. Is everyone shopping at Beacon for lighting? What's the average price being spent on pendants? I like your pendants too R2D2 but they're so different to Villinaeliters. This is going to be difficult as I reckon hubby won't agree with my choices. Oh you just made me think... how tall is our external laundry door?! With M you have to spoon feed them everything. We've gone for taller doors everywhere but one doorway we forgot to tell M about and no one there said anything. Lucky SS is going to fix it. Now I'm panicking about the laundry door. Never a dull moment!! Ckingo74 - We have an ugly looking tap right at the front corner of the house. Wouldn't be so bad if A) we didn't live on a corner and B) it wasn't so far off the ground. Our fault for asking for one there but never expected it so high. Brettbert - My electrical price list is 12 months old. Mgardz one is probably more recent. Mgardz - Thanks for the link. I like that light. Need to go out shopping. We've heartedly looked. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 5094May 29, 2015 9:10 am Redwynne I had looked all year, saved images of the 5 or 6 I liked the best, narrowed it down to the one I liked the best - only to find it discontinued! So I bought its closest cousin instead (same style, different shape). Mine are from Globewest - here is the link http://www.globewest.com.au/index.php?m ... eturnid=28 Got wholesale rates (as I am got them through an interior designer). Paid about $300 per pendant - not cheap, but they are a pretty major feature so was prepared to spend to get the ones I liked! Redwynne your door issue is like my laundry window - I raised all the window heights in our great room/split level to be the same height from the floor (and higher than normal due to 3m ceiling) - but forgot about my tiny little window in the laundry - it is lower down. Realised mid construction and prior to window going in ... but of course I was not allowed to change it with M. Luckily no-one bar me will ever notice it .... and the laundry is completely separate - but if you stand outside and look at the brick wall, it is the only window that doesn't align. Was stressed about it at the time ... now couldn't care less! 2013 1st tender 24/10 Dep. 18/11 2014 5% 25/02 CDC approval 5/5 Demo 26/5 Pool 3/7 Valid'n 10/7 Slab 11/8 Frame 19/9 Bricks 23/10 2015 Roof 3/12 Lock up 11/2 PCI 31/3 Final insp. & keys 30/4 Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 5095May 29, 2015 10:32 am We didn't end up with any shutters, so with just blinds, Ark were in ball park...when they originally quoted for shutters and blinds they were more expensive than others. Does anyone know what sort of pricing I should be looking for for electrics? Getting quotes for lighting - to change 63 batens to downlights, plus another 6 lights, plus six fans, so far best quote I have is about $35/fitting....does that sound reasonable? I will be supplying lights etc... Getting quotes for lighting - to change 63 batens to downlights, plus another 6 lights, plus six fans, so far best quote I have is about $35/fitting....does that sound reasonable? I will be supplying lights etc... I can help you there since I got mine done recently. I am supplying the sparky with my own LED downlights. Mine cost $17 per batten to change to downlight. This price also includes them providing a plugbase on each one. These are little wall power outlet so the DL just plug straight in. If you ever need to change them when they die, you can do it easily yourself. Plug n play!! Batten to pendant, cost me little extra, $20 each batten. I had three over the kitchen island. Not sure about the fans. If they are asking for $35 bucks to change batten to DL. I wouldn't pay that much. All the wiring is already completed. This is just a simple job for them which is cut a hole and put the wires in. Hope that helps. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 5098May 29, 2015 6:42 pm can anyone tell me where does M get there rain days forecast from. We got a quote today from Nepean Blinds and Doors and their plantation shutters came back $200 cheaper overall (not a big difference over 10 shutters). However, for roller blinds for our back sliding door there was a significant difference - over $400 difference. They quoted us for the wrong fly screen doors so we are waiting to hear back from them. Can anyone else recommend blind/door companies used where comparative quotes came out cheaper than Ark? Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 5100May 29, 2015 8:51 pm Hi Im not sure if i can do this here, i am new to the forum, we have just paid our $3900 and have to select our external colours for a trend facade and we are STRUGGLING! We are in a coastal area of the illawarra and looking for grey colour bricks etc but cant seem to work it out ourselves (we are by no means designers). Has anyone got any photos or ideas? Also alot of the places we have seen seem to be rendered and/or painted. Does anyone know the approx cost of this for a two storey home. If we cant get nice enough grey bricks or agree on the colours then this might be our only choice. Any tips or photos would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Michelle 4 17167 i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 16590 Hi all I am looking to run a water line under my concrete footpath which is directly next to my home, was seeing if this is possible without cutting the entire section… 0 20686 |
