Browse Forums Building A New House Re: _lucinda's house 501Jan 14, 2014 10:02 am Paint in the pot looks just like I want it. Going back this afternoon to see some of it actually applied. In the meantime, the rooms look smaller with the ceiling painted, but it does look lovely. Kitchen http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/kitchen_zps25a0982e.jpg Laundry (splashback done)--not sure what's happening with the cornices; looks like there might be a problem as there is not much room http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/laundry2_zps69f26336.jpg Re: _lucinda's house 502Jan 14, 2014 10:13 am Perhaps it would have been better to add tiles up the side of the overhead--any thoughts? http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/laundry_zps4cc8dbdf.jpg Re: _lucinda's house 505Jan 14, 2014 1:12 pm Don't they use undercoat any more? Painter (a really nice guy!) said when he first put the paint on the wall he thought it might be too purple for me but as it dried it became more subtle. The photos probably don't show much but looks close to what I saw and is exactly what I was hoping for: http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/paint2_zpsc3a7412c.jpg http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/paint3_zpsbd6946e8.jpg The timber around the windows will be painted the same colour too (which is a bit of a shame really, but that's what I chose and will stick with it), and I'll have dark (at this moment I've set my mind on black) blinds, probably venetians. Re: _lucinda's house 506Jan 14, 2014 3:56 pm Really like the colour lucinda. We don't have undercoat either, just 3 coats of the actual colour Re: _lucinda's house 507Jan 14, 2014 5:44 pm _lucinda Perhaps it would have been better to add tiles up the side of the overhead--any thoughts? http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/laundry_zps4cc8dbdf.jpg Our cabinet person came back and fixed it by cutting the top section in line with the cornice. Not sure if yours is supposed to stop there or go to the wall Re: _lucinda's house 508Jan 14, 2014 5:48 pm Love everything Lucinda. Its look great! Especially love the laundry hanging rail. All these things when you see you think bugger wish Id thought of it lol. Its coming along nicely Re: _lucinda's house 509Jan 14, 2014 11:20 pm Very nice, I see what you mean about the laundry but it will probably work out and look awesome I love your splash back and hanging rail. Re: _lucinda's house 510Jan 15, 2014 10:26 am It all looks lovely Lucinda It's so hard to imagine these things when the house is still in the building stages, I'm sure it'll be fine when it's all finished and you have your things in there. Can't wait to get inside to have a look. Have a meeting with the site inspector this morning so might be able to get a photo. Doors have received their first coat of paint. Re: _lucinda's house 512Jan 16, 2014 8:20 am Exciting .... For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: _lucinda's house 513Jan 16, 2014 3:40 pm Yes, it is exciting! All benchtops, kitchen sink, bathroom vanity basins, tapware and showers have all been installed--toilets too, but they are the wrong ones so they will have to be replaced. Discussed a few issues with the site supervisor and he's noted them. They will provide infill to the top of the laundry window and then bring the tile up to the infill in the laundry--perfect solution. I've paid the glass supplier for the sidelight for a better glass to match the front door and that will now be installed for us, the same way around as the door. It was hot, and painter was trying to paint around us, so wasn't able to take many photos, but here's the bathroom vanity--loving it: http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/vanity_bath_zpsc121a2d6.jpg And we're looking at around 10 February completion. Re: _lucinda's house 514Jan 18, 2014 7:06 am Wall looking super Lucinda. Great to hear re your handover date- not too far away at all! Also, Love the crisp white kitchen. We're having a hanging rail I'm our laundry too and so when I saw yours it got me excited to see ours! (I know it's odd that I am getting excited about a hanging rail!) Re: _lucinda's house 515Jan 18, 2014 3:04 pm A hanging rail is super exciting. The reality of getting close to handover prompted me to order my blinds today. Although I hate the cords of venetians blinds, I love the ease of being able to tilt the slats, so I've chosen glossy black venetians. The living areas at the back are north facing and we will be having an open slat pergola installed after handover, so, combined with double glazed windows, solar wasn't high priority--hope I don't regret that later. Extra surprise was that by keeping the cost down for the rest of the house our budget actually stretched to basswoood plantation shutters for the two front windows--black of course. Re: _lucinda's house 516Jan 19, 2014 10:00 am awesome its coming along nicely. love the colours you have chosen. your pick of blinds sounds great and will go nicely with the rooms tammy your welcome to follow our build https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64842 Block cut - 15th February 2014 Re: _lucinda's house 517Jan 20, 2014 3:23 pm Render has been painted--one coat to go. It is very bright but I'm happy. Looks like it's dress shirt has been put on. I like the way the light affects the colour. Around midday in bright sun the laundry door looked very lilac. In the shade the colour almost looked bluish. Front--downpipes and electrical boxes will be painted to match the Monument gutters http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/front2_zps0208fb58.jpg Front from other side http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/front_zps484a33b1.jpg Kitchen tap http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/sinkTap_zps56fcd6f7.jpg Laundry http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/laundryTub_zps239759b2.jpg Re: _lucinda's house 520Jan 20, 2014 3:36 pm It looks fabulous Lucinda!
