Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 481Feb 05, 2014 1:06 pm Hi all, Just a quick update with us. We are still trying to get a tender sorted out. Made a couple of revisions and the first tender is due soon (hopefully before weeks end or early next week). As you get the 3 plan changes, did anyone use more than this and what did they charge? Once you get the tender, do you get any other changes or do you get charged each time? Or alternatively did anyone negotiate to not have to pay for some etc? Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 482Feb 05, 2014 7:38 pm Hills build good luck with your tender, we had a quite a few revisions on the plan, they never charged us anything extra. The changes that had to be done where some minor changes made by us and corrections by them. I was glad no additional cost as I would have been very annoyed. All the best. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 483Feb 06, 2014 8:35 am Hills Build, we also had quite a number of revisions. I think its really referring to major plan changes, to deter people from changing their minds. Not necessarily minor enhancements / corrections. Although I'm sure now that Kurmond is getting very busy, they will consider enforcing the rule. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 484Feb 07, 2014 5:53 pm We'll let the delays begin, didn't take long. Apparently, our pool company is running a week behind. They said our pool shell will still be delivered next week but the hole for it can be done until a week later. Bugger. Hope the shell is ok. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 485Feb 10, 2014 6:44 am We have another hurdle...bushfire BAL certificate. The neighbouring property is managed land which is about to be cleared next month completely for the next 2 stages. If we were to do a BAL assessment now, potentially we could be up for extra costs. So possibly we'll have to wait another month or so. We'll go ahead with BAL 12.5 if necessary as the upgrades are not so costly and probably worth it. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 486Feb 11, 2014 6:07 pm What is that I see in my inbox? … finally our Tender has arrived! Here's to a late night trying to digest all 12 pages Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 488Feb 13, 2014 8:52 am Well I am glad to be on this page looking at everyones' journey. We have just got our first "quote" & a little confused. One person gave us one price & the other another & both differ quite substantially. I am assuming they always come in high to start with & then you negotiate. Would love some tips on price negotiation! Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 490Feb 16, 2014 9:21 pm Ya on council starting. Just our luck, our pool is meant to start and it rains! Already a week late, meant to start end of week but if the rain continues our job keeps getting pushed. Rain rain go away, please. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 491Feb 20, 2014 5:51 pm It has begun
Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Looks good, happy with size and how it is sitting. The pool guys have been great, they have moved the extra dirt around for us to the other side of the block and helped level it out, also K have said yes to the pool company to leaving some dirt on site for them to help raise the house where it needed extra fill. It has already been talked about it will cost less because less dirt to take away, might even been no dirt removal. Money back is always brings a smile to my face. We have been assigned our supervisor and now everything is ready to go once the pool is done. Probably middle next week. Excited now things are being done. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 493Feb 25, 2014 8:31 pm And now our pool is full. Concretor is due to around pool this week. Then it should be covered and the gphouse is ready to go. K has sent us the build flowchart which is great to see the whole process how it is linked together. For someone who likes plans I am very happy to see it. I have added a few little bits of our own to it, such as our fireplace and pool bit and pieces that need to happen during the build. Should be good to help communication with the supervisor. The k supervisor has planned the surveyer which is exciting. Hoping to meet him soon. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 494Feb 25, 2014 9:07 pm Great stuff Upsize! Our pool got excavated today and installation starts on Friday. I ordered a temporary pool fence with a 12 month lease period and installed it today around the hole to make sure no one falls in. Kurmond have said before they wanted it fenced and covered - did they say that to you as well? What are you using to cover it? I was thinking a number of timber beams across, plywood sheeting and then star pickets in the corners to keep it down. Hoping this will suffice. Anyway, in other news, I signed a bunch of forms 2 weeks ago for the CDC application, wrote a cheque for the council bonds etc and paid the long service levy and for the last week it's meant to be approved "any time now" and the final engineering plans will be done "any time now" but still waiting. Usual story. How long did it take for you guys betweeen the CDC paperwork and the construction certificate? (if you went CDC). I was under the impression it took 10 days. I think that was the number sales gave me heh It feels that we're "THIS" close to starting Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 495Feb 25, 2014 9:35 pm Finally I can breath a sigh of relief. We've had a whirlwind 2 weeks to get all the ducks lined up by the end of this week to avoid our tender expiry. Thanks to some very dedicated staff members in colours and customer service we've received CDC approval in 4 days and final plans will be finalised with the peg out ordered for next week. We couldn't afford to wait for the pool to be installed prior, so will have to do it post handover. That shouldn't be an issue for access. 4 of us forumites will be underway by the end of March I guess. Glad to see the progress Upsize. Mckz, sounds like you're almost there. 10 days is once it's been submitted by permits to the certifier but it typically takes 4-7 days. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 496Feb 25, 2014 10:14 pm Mckz, our pool company order the fence as standard for 6mths and we requested it be covered. Some companies do this as standard. Not sure the technicalities of how they cover it but the top is ply wood. Our CDC was very quick, k were awesome at pushing this through. We even had to change our plan at last minute to get it approved and it was all done. Good luck, want be long now. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 497Feb 26, 2014 10:18 am well done Upsize on the pool - and full already, when can we come over for a swim Mars - finally some action at your end - great to hear! Hope it's all downhill from here! Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 498Feb 26, 2014 8:35 pm Pool concrete coping done, looks better each day.

Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 499Feb 27, 2014 2:48 pm Hello Fellow Kurmondites, Update: Piering completed yesterday - 24.6Lm hoping for Slab to be poured sometime early next week. Currently everything has been great, contractors have been punctual and very professional. That pool looks awesome Upsize! What we all need is better weather and a bubblegum slushy Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 500Feb 27, 2014 8:09 pm Blazinga that's great, piering completed, if it is around her they would be filling up with water. I too hope for goo weather next week so excavation can start. You should post some photos, would love to see your progress. I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 109717 Hi there!
