I read somewhere we should only use soft bricks, we liked sirus cove range from boral list of bricks.. Is this acepted at ponds? Ta reddyva Re: The Ponds/ KVR- Anyone building this year? Blog List add 482Jun 15, 2010 10:29 am From memory the bricks need to be a uniform colour so no tri colour bricks (3 different colour bricks mixed together) and they need to be a smooth texture brick not grooved or lumpy. Bizzie- Saw your slab, it still looks super fresh. Really dark grey. Karry- (I hope it was you in Annfield)- saw the work they have done down their so far at least of the roads are carved in now. I am thinking you could get a realy good idea now of exactly where your block is. Berny- Do you know how much colder it is at your new house at night? When we take the dog for a walk the temp drops a few degrees near the bridge and that corner. Brrr Hopefully I will have a frame update for everyone later today. When we take the dog for a walk the temp drops a few degrees near the bridge and that corner. Brrr Hey Min No, we've only been there during the day around morning to mid-afternoon, very unlikely we will visit at night until house is complete. I guess the open area around the bridge exposes us to the elements until the trees and reserve mature. We sat on the corner curb (Levy and Stream St) for a while on Sunday afternoon just looking at the house. It was a warm day and we thought how hot it is likely to be there in summer. We may have to re-think what to plant on the long side of the house (Stream St) as it's going to be in the shadow of the house for most of the day and south facing. I'm sure we'll soon find out how cold it is next winter. Being from Wellington, NZ where the southerly winds are bitingly chilly at times, I'll probably be okay. The kids and hubby are the ones likely to complain cheers Berny ----------------------------------------------------- http://serenityattheponds.blogspot.com/ Re: The Ponds/ KVR- Anyone building this year? Blog List add 487Jun 16, 2010 2:09 pm Hi everyone! Haven't posted in a while but pleased to announce there has been some progress (though we didn't know it!). Had no idea that work had already started on our site but been told today that they have excavated, and started to pier and steel. A slab will be down by middle of next week with weather permitting (oh sun please stay around!!). We live quite far away as well from The Ponds - in Lane Cove, so don't make very regular visits.. awesome that the few of you can do that though! With this progress I think we'll have a peek this weekend to see how they're going! Does anyone know if EB SS's allow for weekend site visits or is it just during the week? Also, when would you all recommend us to make the site visits? I was thinking at this stage it would be too early! Probably won't need to arrange a site visit until the frames go up? What are everyone's thoughts? Re: The Ponds/ KVR- Anyone building this year? Blog List add 488Jun 16, 2010 4:03 pm Thanks Min - yep, Annfield - that's me I was able to drive by this morning after dropping the boys off to daycare close by and it looks like they're getting ready to put in the storm water drains which is exciting Baby steps and all! How's everyone else going? We've been busy preparing for our colour selections next Tuesday Building an Eden Brae Saville 27 http://karry327.blogspot.com/ Building thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=44247 Re: The Ponds/ KVR- Anyone building this year? Blog List add 489Jun 16, 2010 9:17 pm andy_min Congrats on the slab bizzie. We went for a walk through Waterfall 5 & 6 this afternoon and it looks like about half of the electricity stuff has been done. The haven't done from Ivory St up the hill yet. You will know when power is done cause street lights are one of the last things to go up. Ok all from me for tonight. Min Andy, Thanks for the post, we live in Canberra so we rarely get to check the progress of Waterfall 4. Any update would be great Re: The Ponds/ KVR- Anyone building this year? Blog List add 490Jun 18, 2010 2:01 pm Hi everyone, Haven't been here for a while. Pleased to see everyone's progress, congraluations. Andy, thanks for your update. We finally finished drawings and variations with builder, hopefully ready to go for approval. I guess we should have got it done much eariler. There have been a few slabs getting poured in Waterfall this week, so not long before there is something to look at on "the other side" And they were filling in some of the electrical trenches in Waterfall 7 (i think) yesterday. Great the see more and more people getting some progress. Blog List add 492Jun 18, 2010 3:15 pm Hi Everyone, Good to read progress reports. Great to hear some slabs are being poured in Waterfall. Looks like we may be heading back out to The Ponds/PGH this weekend...We just received an email from our builder. They're received preliminary feedback from The Ponds Review Panel and our gorgeous choice of BLUE STEEL FLASH bricks have not been accepted (as they are "mottled")!!! Eeeeekkkkk. We loved that brick SO much!! It's back to the drawing board for us as our whole colour scheme was based around that brick. Can anyone suggest any other bricks that are similar (by PGH) that would be allowed at the Ponds. We know of Espresso - which we liked, (however have read some not so good reports on here about that brick) and possibly Sorbetto (in keeping with the grey theme). Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Re: The Ponds/ KVR- Anyone building this year? Blog List add 493Jun 18, 2010 3:24 pm RTDreamhome - congrats on the land registration !!! Good luck with the approval process. Min - just had an update on your blog, sucks that the frame was delayed. I was looking forward to the pictures this week especially since we have had no progress. KingsCastle - I can't believe you have to reselect the bricks and everything !!! Good luck with the new selections - hope you can find something just as nice. We are still waiting to hear back from the Ponds Development after our resubmission. The whole admin process takes so long and all I want is for the house to be built. Looks like EB's estimation of an Aug start date might actually be correct. Re: The Ponds/ KVR- Anyone building this year? Blog List add 494Jun 18, 2010 3:38 pm Aargh!! KingsCastle how annoying looks like a few of the darker blues from PGH are mottled I know of a few people who have ended up going Boral for some darker/blue bricks - maybe you can check those out - Good luck! RTDreamhome - Congrats on registration!! Karry327 - Good luck with your colour selections!! Try and get some sleep the night before it is a pretty draining day!! Acquah - not sure about weekend visits we haven't had one yet but were probably thinking the same thing - probably best to just ask your SS. Chasey - my fingers are crossed for you that you get some good news from the panel soon Our bricks have arrived! now just waiting for the elusive Mr. Bricklayer... One of those house also has Espresso as a feature brick around the front window. Both bricks are up if you want to check it out. Its on the battleaxe being built by Ash & Mel who have a blog and post on here sometimes. I love the Espresso. I commented that if I had face bricks on our house I would want that colour. I had a look at the PGH website and Apollo and Smoke are nice too. EDIT: I also just saw Slate and Frost on a different page they are nice too. Don't know what they look like for real though. Interesting your neighbour has his own key.. don't think that was provided to us as an option so worth asking! Thanks! Although I thought for OH&S reasons, the SS needs to supervise at all times? Re: The Ponds/ KVR- Anyone building this year? If yes what was your rendering colour? As these two colours are already dark in colour i am just lost with the rendering colour... Any suggestions on exterior colours are more welcome as we are struggling to come up with decent colours.
