Had a chat with the brickie this morning (they look even better in the daylight) he mentioned that even he was surprised at how good they looked with the raked finish but did comment that it was taking longer than usual, but mainly as there are so many bricks with the chipped edges. Plasterers were also onsite putting up the ceiling in the garage, but seemed to take offence at having photos taken of their work and told me to F*** off. So any guesses as to who's work is going to be gone over with a microscope? I'm glad to hear your bricks are working out well with the raked finish. Thanks cous, hopefully you get some bricks in the near future as well. Still, maybe he just hadn't had his morning coffee or something, no use worrying over one tradies attitude. I'll stick with the brickies, good blokes who (so far) are doing a really good job. Might need to arrange an 'official' site visit with our SS, not that he really has time for it with his workload and our build being out of the way. So any guesses as to who's work is going to be gone over with a microscope? OMG!!! I can't believe he said that!....how funny. He's a bit touchy hey?....lol We've been pretty lucky actually, the tradies we've had so far have been pretty good about us taking photos, but I've been trying not to annoy them too much and we tend to go after they have left. That may change seeing as our house is now officially locked, so we can't see much of anything unless we go down in the morning. And when we tried to do that this morning one of the managers there (not our SS) told "the Fiance" (have been itching to write that word.... ) and I off! But then said it's okay for us to go in! When our plaster was being done, there was myself, my girlfriend and both our daughters walking around them as they worked with me taking photos of everything, didn’t bother them at all. We just said ‘hello, don’t mind us, we’re the owners’ Thats the thing, I was quite obviously talking with the brickies and looking at the work, they'd asked if i wanted to take a closer look. When the other plaster asked who I was, I told them I was the owner and 30 seconds later I get that response from the other guy who then continues the verbal diarreah as I was leaving the site. Was sorely tempted to go stand on the side of the road, pop up the flash on the camera turn it to full auto 6.7frame per second and go completely papparatzzi on him, but i was running late for work. Considered it, but really tbh with everything else he's dealing with at the moment its so trivial in the grand scheme of things, hardly rates a mention...unless it happens again. corked Looks good guys. Some really neat work on the bricks. OMG what a response from the plasterer. Fantastic way to advertise their business............not!! Brickwork is looking good and there's more photos to come, just starting to process them now. Stay tuned for pics. Well next up hopefully will be a replacement door so we're back at lockup So still a little bit of plastering to go, cornices and all the joins so not quite there yet. Then there will be the lockup progress payment I suppose there has to be a downside to this whole progress thing Janelle Bricks and plaster, wow that happened quick. This must mean you'll get a kitchen soon. That seems to be our experience so far, little bits and pieces and then a huge flurry of activity at all once. Still a bit more to get done, but will be sure to let everyone know once we make contact with our SS. sanmark1 looking good mate! Good to see some more progress on your place.... I am so impressed with your brickwork it looks great, can you send your brickie my way when he's done, I wouldn't mind waiting if I knew it would look that good Funny you mention that, chatting with them this morning they noted about 4pm yesterday they realised that the garage wall they're currently doing is right on the boundary and due to our shared crossover will end up facing another garage wall about 30cm away, so its unlikely once the neighbours build that anyone will get to appreciate what a good looking job they've done. So long as it stays at that quality throughout the rest, we'll be absolutely wrapped. Shame about the plasterers... Who would say such a thing?! Cheers Flaggie, Was actually kind of surprised when the brickies were on site this morning given that it was pouring at my parents house, but our place was just on the edge. So will be interesting to see what they get done, as its so weather depenedent. They were hopefull of getting the rest of the garage wall done. They obviously take a lot of pride in their work - looks amazing. The plasterer with the mouth is obviously going for 'Sandarra Tradie of the Year Award' - we'll have to hold it on Pot'n'Parma night at the Sandhurst Club like the Brownlows. Try and get a pic for the Special Mention category - a nice flash complete with red eyes should do the trick. Mind you, if my work was being documented with your MegaDigital Bazooker I think I'd be sweating too - no pressure! Anyway - it's all looking fantastic - and it seems really fast - but then again for you guys maybe not fast enough! Loving the interior....
