LeanneR If I get slab end May there's 29 weeks until Christmas break so I'd say we should def have keys by then *touch wood* Although I'm building with someone else, my builder was quoting 22 weeks after slab down. Re: Leanne's Baldivis Build #2 - Council Approved! 442Apr 20, 2013 4:25 pm So pretty much same as what my builder said. 22 weeks is good with me as long as I have keys by December! Re: Leanne's Baldivis Build #2 - Council Approved! 444Apr 20, 2013 8:21 pm Don't worry AC its all over now. Enjoy it! Re: Leanne's Baldivis Build #2 - Council Approved! 445Apr 21, 2013 6:44 pm Re: Leanne's Baldivis Build #2 - Council Approved! 446Apr 21, 2013 7:38 pm Well you do live in Wait Awhile, but this is ridiculous! Re: Leanne's Baldivis Build #2 - Council Approved! 447Apr 21, 2013 7:47 pm Top photo was taken 2-3 weeks before land titles. See how there is house on left and bricks on right! That's my frustration anytime I go past as we all got site access and land titles at same time. Infact we even secured our lot before them. But im hoping I can stay patient for least another week. If I don't get my plans this week though my patience will end (again) Re: Leanne's Baldivis Build #2 - Council Approved! 448Apr 21, 2013 7:48 pm Building is a frustrating business - you have no control. Re: Leanne's Baldivis Build #2 - Council Approved! 449Apr 21, 2013 7:56 pm I know... which is even more frustrating since we are the ones paying a lot of money! I think im getting more impatient the closer we get. Even more annoyed as if prestart girl didn't cause 4 week delay we would be getting a slab in couple weeks *sigh* Once we get a slab I can leave this all behind - I keep reminding myself this is a long term home. This time will be nothing in scheme of things Re: Leanne's Baldivis Build #2 - Waiting, more waiting 450Apr 21, 2013 8:15 pm Building a house is a lesson in patience - we expected to be living in our house by last Christmas but due to us changing builders and new builders taking awhile to get started we are now hoping for July this year...everyone says it'll be worth the wait, but oh the wait and wait and wait! I think its worse for you because you can see others houses progressing. If it makes you feel any better, a friend of mine waited 2 years, so thats 2 years from application of building licence to moving in for her house, she built with a well known Perth builder however it was the boom time...it was made even more crazy that she was living with in-laws and only expected to be there maximum 1 year Re: Leanne's Baldivis Build #2 - Waiting, more waiting 451Apr 21, 2013 8:46 pm Ive built before. It didn't teach me patience at all... its made me more impatient this time around cause im using same builder and this time they are taking SOOOOOOOOOOO much longer than last time haha. Sucks having a timeframe to compare it too Re: Leanne's Baldivis Build #2 - Waiting, more waiting 453Apr 21, 2013 9:41 pm Slab to keys I assume. With my last build was 18.5 weeks from slab to keys. Re: Leanne's Baldivis Build #2 - Waiting, more waiting 455Apr 22, 2013 7:31 am Yeah I'm not expecting 18.5 weeks but 22 weeks would be nice! Everyone cross everything I get final plans this week. Re: Leanne's Baldivis Build #2 - Waiting, more waiting 456Apr 22, 2013 12:20 pm I reckon 22 weeks is totally achievable Leanne, especially if the weather isn't too poopy this season. We never get a heck of a lot of rain here in Perth anyway - would be way worse if we were in Melbourne! One of the Aveling chicks said that ours may take a little longer because of the triple garage. Has anyone had a triple garage before in their build and can attest to this? It's only bit extra. We have extended our garage to boundary & increased the garage door size. Plus added a store. Our house was too wide for a triple garage. DH would of loved to have one. Re: Leanne's Baldivis Build #2 - Waiting, more waiting 458Apr 22, 2013 1:31 pm Yeah, I thought it sounded strange too. Maybe the girl wasn't 100% sure what she was talking about...hopefully Our thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64272 Purchased land August '12 Titles Jan 27 '13 Prestart - Jan '13 Re: Leanne's Baldivis Build #2 - Waiting, more waiting 459Apr 22, 2013 1:42 pm It certainly is frustrating - especially with new estates. Sometimes it takes forever for titling. Hopefully the weather is kinder to you than it has been to us. At every critical stage of our build where you don't want it to rain - it rained... But as you've built before you know that patience is the key - after all you want them to do a good job rather than a quick and d0dgy one. Well at least that's what I tell myself 11 months on from the site being cut. Re: Leanne's Baldivis Build #2 - Waiting, more waiting 460Apr 22, 2013 2:04 pm So true! I can handle delays for a reason though (EG bad weather, no titles etc). Its the delays cause of not enough staff, mistakes being made and so on that I don't like. And the waiting. Like it would take an hour tops to do prestart changes to a floorplan. But your file has to wait in the pile waiting for its turn. haha Those span tables can be pushed a little for a low deck if you dont mind a little flex.
