Don't they want business? I come from Horticulture so I understand the prices but how a business can charge this much and people still pay is unbelieveable. Maybe I should go back into the industry, would have the house paid off in no time. Sounds like we will just be doing driveway too. What size driveway is that for and is it fairly level? Building Monte Carlo 40- Wisdom homes Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 4386Feb 28, 2017 12:26 pm Drive way isn't level slighty sloping will require drop edge beam type set up along one side it does include additional steps 4 in total and a smaller slab on side of house. Driveway quote whilst high is probably only item that we will get them to do. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 4387Feb 28, 2017 12:54 pm I've been quoted about 10k for a double driveway. The fence around 5k as well, my lot is 557.7m2. The turf is expensive though, lay the turf yourself I reckon, biggest saving there is, will take you 2 days. Building Monte Carlo 40- Wisdom homes Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 4389Feb 28, 2017 1:03 pm That's the only part of the quote I can somewhat agree with they also charge $1000 for a rendered mailbox which you can get a bunnings cheaper and $750 installed for a folding clothesline way overpriced Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 4390Feb 28, 2017 1:12 pm It will take a day to do site prep and return a couple of tonne of top soil or underlay and then half a day to lay the turf. The driveway price seems alright as it includes 4 steps and a 3.8m extension by about 1m on one side. Everything else I will do my self or use someone else. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 4392Feb 28, 2017 1:18 pm I've done a few backyard and front yard turf and garden renovations as thats my past job. Fencing for me is over the top it is only 4.6m in total and within that 4.6m, 1.4m of that is a gate. It doesn't cost $1000 a meter for fencing. At our old house I got 10m front garden fence with a 4.5m sliding gate 1.2m supplied and installed for only $4000 granted 18months ago. But again 2 side returns don't cost anywhere near what they estimated. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 4393Feb 28, 2017 1:23 pm I wouldn't be surprised if we start to see higher prices for driveways in the landscaping quotes. Concreters are getting more expensive because they're in such high demand at the moment. They're almost as difficult to find as bricklayers around the Sydney growth areas apparently. Ive heard it a couple of times in the past week then my Wisdom SC said exactly the same on the weekend while I was chatting with him (he said it's likely to drive another price increase sooner rather than later even though Wisdom only just had one in January) Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 4394Feb 28, 2017 1:24 pm Oh, sorry, I didn't notice it's only for that length. That is super expensive! I thought the whole property was to be fenced Definitely not worth! Did you get that $5k landscaping promotion? Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 4395Feb 28, 2017 2:45 pm Yeah we got the $5500 landscaping voucher which originally was going towards the driveway with an additional tender allowance of $2500. So I'll most likely get them to do the driveway and additional concrete area and then use my own trades people for the side fence returns and I'll do all the landscaping works. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 4396Feb 28, 2017 5:20 pm Thanks 007 & psur2357, must be hard getting any business with this price. 10k driveway and its only plain coloured, ouch... Can't believe they used to include stenciled driveway. Otherwise it's a big cost they most people don't think about. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 4398Feb 28, 2017 6:59 pm ![]() So we got our provisional landscaping quote today. Lets us say if they priced accordingly they would be run off their feet. I come from a Horticulture background and the prices they charge are criminal. We are building a 52+ square home on a 700sqm block. Our quote was over $80K. We didn't ask for anything extraordinary. Grass, hedges, standard iceberg roses and two Little Gem Magnolias. Criminal is a very appropriate word. It is beyond a joke. Can someone please offer some advice? Im DESPERATE. Because I'm completely and utterly exhausted. How long are variations taking with other companies at the moment?
