Cost us $750 to have it ducted to atmosphere, though we were originally told $790, didn't mention it to them when they gave it to us cheaper Cordova 2 with MJH @ Barton Ridge Initial Quote - 9/3 Deposit Paid - 19/3 Initial Colours 15/4 CT Accepted 15/4 Full Colours 10/5 Contracts Signed 27/5 Work Commenced 23/8 Handover!!! 19/12(Hopefully) Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 4322May 19, 2013 12:05 pm fullymad The_Lalas di+matt snip Ours is vented to our roof space, I think that's standard. If you have a whirly bird thing on your roof it's meant to ventilate that space. Interesting you say that, I got ours ducted to the exterior of our house, but prior to selections i asked if we could have it ducted into the roof space and was told Quote: " In regards to having it vented into the roof cavity we do not offer this as it does not comply with the building code." They said the only options were to atmosphere or recycled into the kitchen. Did you have to pay to get it ducted into the roof space? My bad, I just spoke to the better half and we vented the bathroom fans to roof space, our kitchen rangehood is ducted outside. This is why I married her. Ours was $750 to atmosphere too. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 4323May 19, 2013 5:59 pm Thanks for all the replies! I think we might not duct to atmosphere then... We don't cook oily or particularly strong smelling foods often so we should be okay. Went to sister in laws for dinner last night at her new Rawson home... Turns out the noisy rangehood hadn't been connected up and probably would have caught on fire if not discovered... The only reason it was discovered was because the splashback fitters came and measured it up! They were appalled. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 4324May 20, 2013 2:07 pm Hi All. Nice to hear everyone's build progress coming along. A question for those that already started - how long did it take for your build to start once you had council approval / complying development consent? We have now had approval for a couple of weeks and seem to be waiting on MDJ drafting to finalise the plans to show a different Water valve on water tank (bushfire requirement) required for construction certificate. We have also gone over our 150day price so are paying extra for the added time it takes - surely it can't take 2 weeks to draw a different water valve? Hey mate, we got approval from council on the 22/3, went on the construction list on the 4/4 and commenced on site 23/4. It's all in my blog if you wanna have a look:) http://entertainerexecutive1.blogspot.com.au/ Hope you get some conformation soon man! Cheers Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 4326May 20, 2013 3:37 pm Hi Bri80. Nice blog. TBH most of my delays have been with the local Council not MJH. Hoping we get on the construction list soon. Building McDonald Jones Bronte Manor One Contracts Signed Dec 12 DA Lodged Jan 13 DA Consent w/BAL40 Apr 13. S96 Consent w/BAL19 May 13. Didn't take us that long to get building after council. Keep bugging them, squeeky wheel gets the oil and all that. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 4328May 20, 2013 7:30 pm Lalas, I'd be bugging them to waive the charges if its taking them a while to get their act together! You must be building closer to the treeline than us, we were 'cleared land' in all directions and had no bushfire requirements at all. Nah Miss Windsor it wasn't us, it's scotty78 being pinged for the > 150 day clause. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 4331May 22, 2013 6:46 am Thanks for the info/ advice. Mjh have agreed to review any delays by them and not charge. Obviously the delays with council we can't do anything about. Good luck with it all Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 4333May 22, 2013 5:39 pm RAIN!!!! Of all weeks!!!!!!!! Still haven't got the roof on and the bricks are all ready to go ;( follow my Blog: http://monacoatbingaragorge.blogspot.com.au Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 4335May 22, 2013 7:57 pm Shouldn't have said anything, bank still haven't gotten loan contract to us so we might get slugged for going over the 150 days now! Wouldn't be by much, a week at most, but the timeline is tight. I am so annoyed with our bank atm, this has taken far too long and they've given us the run around on so many things. Keep getting asked for different forms to be filled out every week, double check if there is ANYTHING more we need to do before we get an Authority to Commence and they say no, they'll call us and then a week later in comes a request for a new form to cosign. We've paid the balance of the deposit cash just so we can demonstrate we're ready to move on and atm bank has said they'll send the Authority as an electronic copy but don't know how much faith I have that there won't be another hurdle Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 4336May 24, 2013 10:03 am Where has everyone gone???????? Hope everyone's build is plugging along - bleedin rain, hopefully it dries up soon. We are busy moving out of our old house and into our temporary one just in time to start demolition. We finalised our electrical plan (sort of ~ give me one more day to be absolutely sure). Hopefully this time next month I'll be looking at a slab. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 4337May 24, 2013 11:25 am Our build is tracking along nicely, tiling is done, painting continues from Monday and benchtops get installed on Tuesday. Getting so exciting now! Sorry to all those people who will have their builds held up with the rain Hopefully it passes quickly for you. So tell me, does everyone else go onto their site? Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 4340May 24, 2013 10:25 pm Squeeks So tell me, does everyone else go onto their site? Looks like our floors are being restored next weekend. Fingers crossed we will finally have floors that actually look brand new and finished. They currently look a mess and like they need a good clean and a much needed polish.
