Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 421Dec 28, 2015 12:00 am Elemist We brought it from furniture bazaar. I'm selling it if you are interested. It's hardly been used and too dark for our room. We have spent the day building and putting things together now we are home its so hot though without aircon! We need to get aircon as soon as this pool is in. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Matty building the IKEA buffet.. He is still building it 9 hours later haha Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I put the new bedding on the guest bed. We need to move it away from the wall though. I thought it made the room more spacious but Matt doesn't like it against the wall and I think he's right (for once lol!) Hoping to get started on the decking out the back once the weather cools down abit. Im sure my hubby will experience the same thing - that is if i dont decide to take over (will probably get assembled quicker if i do it myself) Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 423Dec 28, 2015 9:44 pm So we have finished the IKEA unit. I'm thinking I need to get 3 lighter doors for the top 3 cabinets to break up the darkness. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Also put up some shelving in the living which I love! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Busy day tomorrow, we have a wardrobe fit out place coming to on site measure, we received a quote similar to IKEA and we would rather not have the hassle. Off to the pool shop to choose our tiles for the wet deck, and to the air con place to get some air con... Cannot even deal with this heat!! Good idea with breaking up the dark. We survived today without the aircon but tonight the house feels hot I think it's held the heat as during the day it wasn't too bad. Not bad enough to want aircon yet tho, but we might get a fan lol Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 426Dec 29, 2015 2:44 am We brought a few fans today, just to help circulate the air. We survived without it at least! We are getting air con through the builder, because matts dad works for the builder we are getting it at the cost price without the builders commission. So we are saving $2000! Pretty stoked with that but wish they would of said that when we were building. I didn't want to be too greedy though, they did give us $5000 off our prestart bill. Haven't tried the nature direct mop but I have heard about it! I was going to look into enjo so maybe I will look into nature direct, can you tell me what is so good about it? For now I just use a steam mop. We have no AIRCON since 26th of October 2014.
I think, we may have to endure an another summer before moving into our new home. At our old home we had both split aircon and ducted air cooler. Air cooler doesn't work when the humidity is high so we turn on the split aircon. I like the floating shelves. Are you going with ducted or split? Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 430Dec 29, 2015 10:53 am Oh you poor thing getting through these hot days without aircon! I am loving the shelves you put up. Did you need to drill into the wall to put them up? We have some similar ones and still deciding where to put them. Once you drill the holes you can't really change your mind haha First Build, Commodore Homes, Honeywood, Wandi. viewtopic.php?t=77170 Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 431Dec 29, 2015 2:07 pm Ok I'll look into both those mop systems We did have to drill in the wall for the floating shelves and the buffet. But I do love them We are going ducted, just Evap. I don't want another loan and we have the pool for those really hot days. Evap will just keep the house cool. I vac first with a stick Dyson Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 433Dec 30, 2015 8:22 am We have an evap system and it has been amazing so far. Maybe the light roof helps too but we've been pretty impressed Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 434Dec 30, 2015 1:31 pm Evap systems are a lot better these days. We have been surprised. Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 436Dec 30, 2015 6:04 pm What evaporate does everyone have? I keep getting laughed at when I suggest it for ours, I know it's not great for humid days but it must still cool better then nothing Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 437Dec 30, 2015 7:43 pm archetto What evaporate does everyone have? I keep getting laughed at when I suggest it for ours, I know it's not great for humid days but it must still cool better then nothing Maybe your house is too big for evap. You probably need 2 lol. One for up and one for down stairs and the price will be similar to have aircon. At my old house, I have breeze air. Installed in 1994 had a motor replaced in 2005. Still cool very well in hot and dry weather, when the house was sold. Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 438Dec 30, 2015 7:58 pm We did a lot of research and decided to go with Breezair. The builder was using Braemer and charging $7k, instead we opted for an allowance for the build which cost $450 and went through a dealer. Based with our house size which is small - 23 sq the cooling cost $5,500. The price is determined on the size of your home and # of outlets. Breezair has great review also and is much quieter. http://www.breezair.com.au/ Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 439Jan 02, 2016 10:25 am Love what you have done around the house Cara, everything is looking great!
