At least now I have a chance to catch up. Some of it is wrong, some of it are honest mistakes and some of it is cutting corners (both literally and figuratively). Either way its getting sorted which is the main thing, a shame we'll be delayed but its the end product that matters, not so much how bumpy the journey is along the way. Been a little on the warpath over the last few days so decided it was time to take a deep breath and look at the bigger picture and now we've got a delay but it should be sorted as of friday morning. Well I did this morning, some bugger has pinched our internal garage door overnight So sometime between 7pm when i was there last night and closed everything up as the tradies as usual had left it open and this morning clearing someone thought they needed the door more than us Anywho spoke to our SS, it'll get replaced in the next few days, fortunately it appears nothing else was taken. We actually had some speaker wires that we bought (over $300 worth) and someone clearly thought that some of the wires didn't belong in our place, but belonged more in their house and stole them. Because this was something that we did ourselves (with the builders permission), we can't get any compensation as it was at our own risk. We put them in the night before the plaster was supposed to go in (this was Wednesday last week) and because of the delay in the plaster, someone over the weekend went past and nicked them... not happy at all. Mate that sucks, perhaps it was the same someones wanting a door and some cable> Still a pain that it was at your risk. I would have thought it would be fairly unlikely given the occasional security patrol and how often people are down there. Hmmm wonder what the builder would say to me adding some motion sensitive floodlights and some day/night cameras. I'd agree that someone in possession of a cordless drill was probably to blame for the loss of our door, but that said its a fairly generic assumption to make. Whomever the culprit is, the theft occurred after 7pm and before 7am and well no self respecting tradie i've seen would choose to be working between those hours. That said we find the unscrupulous in all walks of life, why should building be any different. At least its not like they tried to take down all our roof tiles or something equally ridiculous So yeah, we used to have a door here Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 20100901-IMG_7335 by Belial669, on Flickr The thing was it was screwed into the frame with the hinges they also took, and also on the other side of the frame to prevent it from opening. Thanks mpcj, yeah seems to be but we're getting through it. As i've said pretty much all along, its not if there is problems, its how they get dealt with that matter. I didn't know there was such a demand for doors, i mean seriously do people just have wind rushing through their place from one end to the other until they realise that these new fangled doors are being installed in new houses to block the draft? The fixed a couple of areas in the data cabling, but didn't in any way shape or form consider that it was neccisary to move the excess electrical cable nor the one in parallel with the gas line. A bit of technical discussion and a quick call to energysafe victoria, the electrician is correct in what they have done meets the absolute bare minimum of the standard and as such they aren't willing to make changes. One would think that after they've taken all the time and effort of actually coming out on site, that they might just do it to placate the irate owner, but no. Still they still sign the cert of electrical safety and compliance so its on them if its ever a problem. its kind of like the rest of their cabling is structured so its placed in areas where the standard allows them not to have to fix it off to the structure as much as possible. Anywho after a clear difference of opinion as to quality vs bare minimums we'll all get over it and move on. So speaking of moving on, our brickies should be onsite to do the 'loading' around the house (taking the bricks off the pallets and getting them into working postions). this arvo if the weather holds, then after a few bits and pieces on monday they need to finish off at their current job we should see them back to make a start on tuesday/wednesday. Plasterers are also coming early next week and finally they've organised another plumber to come onsite and move the recycled water run in and add the missing garden tap. So yeah, mix of outcomes from this morning that said I can't get it my way all the time well that is until I come to power mwahahahahahaha But progress is on the way.
