We are 7 months from paying the $3900 on Sunday (paid 29 August 2014) and we don't even have council approval! And they better not charge me any price rises since we'd have approval if they did their job!! Marina you're nearly there! Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 4162Mar 26, 2015 7:07 am Thanks Shell90 , TNC2004- I hope it happens soon for you. We renovated our last house in England including new kitchen and bathroom. We hadn't yet moved in as the house needed a complete rewire and re plumb and so the services were switched off/not in use. I popped around unexpectedly at lunchtime one day from work only to catch (in the act, shall we say!) my plumber (also a son of a good friend!) peeing into a bucket in my dining room..... ! Slightly embarrassing So at least they used your toilet! But I'll remember to get that bottle of domestos when our toilets are installed. Gross! Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 4164Mar 26, 2015 7:15 am Driveway is done (woohoo!!) and retaining walls half done. We added some more work for our landscaper so he has ordered some pavers, more retaining wall blocks as well as some sleepers for a wall we won't even see (its on the downhill side next to the fence). Just waiting for them to be delivered and then he will return to finish it all. Then it will be time for grass!! Deck plans are still with council even though when they came out to visit they said it all looked fine and wouldn't be a problem. That was three weeks ago. And still waiting..... Rip off… $7.5k price hike for going over 90 days when M took 100 days to complete CDC and there were no warnings given “hurry up as you'll be charged” (one warning was given but it was too late). Head office... I believe our pre construction rep wasn't proactive and contributed to the delays. Also complained and wanting to talk to management, etc but that fell on deaf ears. Painfully Long Bricklaying Award (7 weeks and still counting?) - Redwynne We have a few runners for the Longwinded Process Award – nominations are MGardz, Lincashhal, Buildersbob, GillyM... Can’t recall when we paid our $3500 deposit but our first tender is dated 26/10/2012 and M started building in November 2014. Admittedly we put a halt to the process due to personal reasons but it wasn't for long. We signed the contract around mid March 2014 and M started building in November… that’s 7 months. Head office confirmed with my M sales lady (who has been unbelievably helpful) that there is only one charge of $1990 and this includes the carpenter to come back later to do the wall skirtings after the floor is in Building Metricon Glendale 38 http://jazzyandluke.blogspot.com.au Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 4171Mar 26, 2015 2:26 pm So onto my next question: if you want to get a tap outlet for your fridge cavity for fridges that make ice / water is this done at your kitchen / colours appointment or is this considered "structural" and do I need to get it on my plans now? Building Metricon Glendale 38 http://jazzyandluke.blogspot.com.au Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 4173Mar 26, 2015 3:00 pm Villinaeliters - SO glad it is nothing major.... I had a look at our ceilings on my last walkthrough and wondered if they were really 2.7m, but resisted the urge to worry about it until gyprocking in - but i will be whipping out my tape measure at my next walk through! I wonder what they would do if they got a ceiling height wrong and the customer said "No, I definitely want that ceiling height - rip down the roof and start again!"?? lol Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 4174Mar 26, 2015 3:26 pm R2D2 - That would be me. Rip it down cause I paid extra for the privilege of having higher ceiling heights otherwise I want a refund! Villinaeliters - That is good news. Sounds like a simple fix. Jazz - Like shell90 we had our water point organised during tender period as we thought it was a structural thing. Would be handy if M had a list of options for different stages as part of their really big folder. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 4175Mar 26, 2015 3:35 pm jazz_d So onto my next question: if you want to get a tap outlet for your fridge cavity for fridges that make ice / water is this done at your kitchen / colours appointment or is this considered "structural" and do I need to get it on my plans now? We also added a fridge point, but we did it way back at the beginning of the process when we were still dealing with the sales lady (it cost $250). I think the earlier in the process that you get it added, the better! Maybe drop them an email to check? Sooooooo glad that its nothing major!!! Except you don't want to p-off the SS while he still has control of your house, it would have been tempting to respond to his comment about why he doesn't like the owners onsite, to say "why, is it because you don't like us to see all the mistakes you make?" That would have been fun! Congrats on your impending PCI!!! How exciting!! GillyM – Great news. So what’s left to do besides what you've mentioned, or is that it? Love it!!! Oh, there's always more to do, but they're the biggies I'm waiting on. Can't wait till the landscaper has finished the retaining walls/paving, as then I can plan the garden beds and order some grass. It will look more finished then. Our blinds have all been installed, but shutters (main bedroom and bathrooms) are still a few weeks away. We're also having a drop down external awning on our kitchen splashback window (faces west, spectacular views but hot on a summers afternoon) which is also a week or two (or three!) away from installing. The deck is still with council..... hopefully that will be approved soon, then we will be waiting on the decking company to schedule when they will come and build it. Also only have fencing on one side (they finished building before we started), so once our landscaper has finished we will start on the quote process for that. (could be interesting.....we have three neighbours down one side.... one is insisting on colourbond, one is insisting on timber, the other is probably leaning towards colourbond, and we're prefering timber and don't want a hotch-potch of fencing!) Plus, we have sold lots of furniture (shelves, dining table, buffet/hutch, cupboards) as they really don't suit our new house, so are also on the hunt for what will suit. Needless to say, not having book shelves, buffet, cupboards, etc really limits being able to unpack lots of stuff! I've been leaving lots of boxes in my daughters room (out of sight!) as she is away at uni, but she's coming home for easter....... guess I'd better work on that this weekend! Still don't have IOC though..... hopefully soon! We also will have a bit of an awkward driveway and steps going up to the front door so I'd love to get a sort of visual of what we might expect. Thanks Redwynne that was the funniest read..... I hope we all also have awards for the best things in our homes too. There definitely has to be positives otherwise we are all nuts for doing this..... Villinaeliters I'm glad your saggy roof will be an easy fix. Do you know when your flooring will go in?? I'd love to see it before my Dons appointment as I think it could be a possible choice for us. I do change my mind everyday between wood or tiles, I just can't find tiles I like.
