The prestige only gives catalogue 1 flooring and tiles (300*300). we are thinking of our budget. that might cost much. Turns out they are behind schedule and will not be ready for our independent inspection this Monday morning. We have now rescheduled it for 18th August. Site supervisor also said there is an issue with our external colour selections. We wanted our lining boards to be the same colour as the Bayside display home lining boards. We were told by the interior designer at world of style that if there was a colour used on a display home that we were allowed to select it. We've now been told that colour is a Dulux colour and Porter Davis are strictly contracted to Wattyl for their exteriors. They will ask Wattyl to try and match the colour so hopefully not too much of an issue. I'm really hoping it ends up being the exact colour as it is a large portion of the facade and all our other selections revolve around this colour. - View my blog at www.waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.com Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 405Aug 05, 2017 10:30 pm That ticks me off so much about volume builders! They just change suppliers while you're mid contract and your expected to go along with it and re-select! If it's in the contract, it should mean they need to do it, end of story. The worst is when you have your heart set on something like a particular stone colour only be told you have to choose from another suppliers range where you might not like anything, or nothing goes as well with your other selections! There might be a slight variation if they use a wattyl base. Would be worth getting a sample pot to be sure you're happy with it? Our 37sq Custom Hamptons Inspired Home: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86931 Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 406Aug 06, 2017 9:36 am I would guess that it should be doable to match the color on the display home using a different paint brand, surely it can't be that hard. Even so given that we get told we're locked in before construction has even started because they've ordered the materials, how is it that they can say halfway through construction that actually they can't do what they've supposedly already ordered? We've been through contract but construction probably isn't going to start for a while yet and when we asked about changing the type of tile for one of the areas of the house got told nope you can't do that. Building a Kew 28 with Porter Davis Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 407Aug 06, 2017 6:46 pm Do you have any ideas for the void area? For outside the window, the pendant lights and what to do with the feature wall? Suggestions welcome >> https://waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.co ... /the-void/ Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 408Aug 06, 2017 9:47 pm For outside the window, if you're not doing a pool area like the display, you need something else that will draw the eye. What about a courtyard with paving and lovely pots or a water feature - something that leads out to lush green lawn... Really love the second idea below of a courtyard with some sort of screening... You just need a sizeable one that's going to make an impact Our 37sq Custom Hamptons Inspired Home: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86931 Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 409Aug 07, 2017 3:43 pm Waldorf_Grange_Build Do you have any ideas for the void area? Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 410Aug 10, 2017 11:11 am Hi Waldorf_Grange, I noticed in your blog you have the staircase with the slight curve and smaller bottom step. Is there an extra cost to have it built like the staircase in the display home with straight hand rails and bigger landing at the bottom? Thanks. Is there an extra cost to have it built like the staircase in the display home with straight hand rails and bigger landing at the bottom? Thanks. Yes I believe so but we were never quoted for it. There was another client that told me they were quoted $800 but not sure if it was for the same house. We had to sign a form to say we were aware the landing was a tripping hazard. I actually would have liked the square landing better but we didn't notice the curve on our drawings until it was too late. We assumed when we upgraded to Traditional Staircase Option 5 that it would come as the display. We signed our build contract 3 weeks ago and are currently waiting to hear from PD about booking our New Home Proposal Appointment and WOS. I will be sure to ask about this in our appointment. Our land which was meant to register in May next year has been brought forward to November this year, so feeling a bit rushed now. We are already preparing ourselves for some issues getting developer approval due to the design of the house and being on a corner lot, but I'll expand on that further when I start my own build thread after our PD appointments. Looking forward to more updates of your build. Looking forward to more updates of your build. Our developed approved most things except the window bars on the facade. We were able to have the 28 degree pitch roof when estate guidelines says maximum 25. We also were approved to have garage set further back from street than estate guidelines would normally allow. So some things they were flexible with, but the windows they were adamant had to be less "traditional" - View my blog at www.waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.com Re: Building the Waldorf Grange by Porter Davis 415Aug 13, 2017 8:15 pm Meeting my site supervisor out on site tomorrow morning to discuss paint colours.
