Dana how did you go with your window issue? Have you reached a satisfactory agreement?
Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 403Aug 26, 2013 4:11 pm ![]() I have asked the admin to forward an email to Victorian Construction Manager but didn't get any response. I don't think I will receive positive response if any. If i were you, wouldn't worry too much about upsetting the SS, ultimately its your house and if you feel the work is unsatisfactory, it needs to be resolved in consultation with MV, where an amicable resolution is achieved, which is satisfactory for both parties. I'd request them to redo the windows. There has to be a building standard which dictates what the allowance is. Speaking from personal experience, MV has agreed to fix all the issues which were pointed out in our BI report, this includes reworking on a window which abuts an articulation joint. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 405Aug 26, 2013 7:23 pm I agree with Ari on this one. I would also just keep sending emails asking when you can expect this to be resolved. My stance would be that the window needs to be replaced. It's not that expensive in the scheme of things for MainVue! All the best and let us know the outcome. ![]() Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 406Sep 02, 2013 8:14 pm We received our colour selection document in the mail today and so beings the endless reading and checking and rechecking. I've found one inconsistency between this document and the sales quote from the first quick flick through. Two more weeks until tender. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 407Sep 03, 2013 7:26 am I guess the colour selection doc was the most fun to read, followed by the drawings plan...Looking forward to your build thread soon Ari, getting there steadily ![]() Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 408Sep 03, 2013 1:56 pm I cant wait until the drawings. Did you get them at tender or not until after. There are a couple of things listed in colours that are little hard to check they are correct without drawings. I did get contacted by my admin to see if I could come into tender this week as they had a couple of cancellations. Spewing I couldn't change my work around though. Except for the energy ratings drawings only came in after they did the soil survey, we got the rest of them by tender. All the best with the tender Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 410Sep 11, 2013 3:05 pm Just got word that we will have to increase the size of the master bedroom by 850mm as the estate guidelines require the garage to be set back 1500mm from the master bedroom. Not sure how that works given we have a battleaxe block and due to the way the house is set out the garage is waaay past 1500mm going by the "street frontage". So a huge Master bedroom just got even bigger if we go ahead with it. I think I'll just end up living in there and never coming out lol. I wonder if it would be possible to increase all the rooms behind the master instead, pushing the master forward. hmmm. Which Amalfi are you building? Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 412Sep 11, 2013 3:26 pm ![]() Interesting...do u have plans you could share to paint a picture? Which Amalfi are you building? No plans of the block on me at the moment. We're building the Amalfi 536. I assume its the whole master bedroom (with the retreat) rather than just the bedroom section (without retreat) Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 413Sep 11, 2013 3:30 pm ![]() No plans of the block on me at the moment. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 415Sep 11, 2013 3:51 pm Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 417Sep 13, 2013 1:03 pm My advice to anything thinking of building is "Question EVERYTHING". After thinking about the bedroom extension that night and trying to work out how they planned to get the extension which would sit outside the building envelope passed by the developers it dawned on us "Are they actually using this building envelope?" Nope! After 11 months and handing it in multiple times, head office did not have a copy of the building envelope that we had provided to us by the developer. The funny thing is, we first got this envelope off Henley 3 years ago when I was buying the block as we went in there to ask them about site costs and the previous owner of the block was still in the process of getting to contract with Henley! After that, we got a copy provided to us by the developers as well. So where does this leave us? With head office struggling to get in contact with the developers before our Tuesday tender. I think they wanted to cancel our appointment but our lovely Admin pointed out I've closed my business for the day and I confirmed I wouldn't be able to come in on another day. So Tender is going to be presented to us in an "as in" state and then we'll have to wait to see what happens with the developers. They'll have to post the next tender to me as I wont be able to have more days off work and quite frankly tender has always seemed a waste of time to me as I'm quite capable at reading to myself ![]() So... slightly pi$$ed off as who knows how long this will delay things but at least I'll get to see the costings for the kitchen changes. I doubt we'll have a slab before Christmas. If anyones in a hurry, go to Boutique... tender in a week is impressive. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 418Sep 14, 2013 10:27 am MainVue Homes is a trading name Henley Properties came up with to move into the US market. MainVue IS Henley Properties..new name but same old... Henley presents its display houses beautifully but the house you will get will suffer from the skilled labour shortage that has always plagued Henley. They use labourers who tender the cheapest price. Don't expect anything different. My house was painted by a new Australian family..father , mother , and kids all doing the work! We have a 536 and I can tell you that the master bedroom is huge, the entire master suite in this house is bigger than some inner city apartments. See below for an image of our master suite as we moved in, that is a king size bed and it is dwarfed by the room. The carpet looks almost like the colour I planned to put in too! That is the avenue facade isn't it? Any ideas on how you will curtain that corner window? I have a huge kingsize bed too. It would be a lot easier to choose a house if I had gotten rid of my furniture. Between trying to fit in the bed and the monster of a table I have, it was a little limiting. Wish you all the best.
