I'm a shorty but hubby is tall so all the jobs for a tall person are his by default Re: Building with Simonds in Adelaide 42May 03, 2016 2:31 pm Hi Marshall5858, We have the same kitchen inspo pic We have just signed up to build the Turin with Simonds in SA. We have gallery in 3 weeks and I was wondering if you are getting your mirror splashback through Simonds and if you wouldn't mind sharing the approximate cost please? Thanks. Hi Cass, How exciting the Turin has a great floor plan, are you getting the alfresco? I will private message you the details for the splashback. This is the closest pic I can find of it but we will probably use PGH Plateau bricks (see pic) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Any colour suggestions would be greatly appreciated Re: Building with Simonds in Adelaide 46May 04, 2016 2:16 pm Hi Marshall, Wish you the best with your building journey. Have you added alfresco in your plan? Cheers, Thank you. No we haven't, we're hoping to have something to the side of the house but we'll sort that out once we've moved in Re: Building with Simonds in Adelaide 48May 04, 2016 2:27 pm Marshall5858 Thank you. No we haven't, we're hoping to have something to the side of the house but we'll sort that out once we've moved in Hi Marshall, This is what was suggested to me by my mates....It is a good idea (if your builder is happy to do it) to add the alfresco in the floor plan when it goes to the council for approval. If you decide to build an alfresco or similar structure in the future, you don't need to go for an approval again. Not sure if we can add it now but I can ask. If your roof is that dark, I probably wouldn't match that! That being said, I'm a bit 'matchy matchy', and tend to echo tones and textures, because I'm hopeless at pulling together stuff that isn't 'in the same room' with itself, IYKWIM. So I've been no help whatsoever... sorry! (Absolutely no dead seaweed colour, though!) So I've been no help whatsoever... sorry! (Absolutely no dead seaweed colour, though!) Actually, this is helpful. I didn't think of the mortar colour. I'm a bit matchy matchy too, I think that's why I'm getting so peeved with the render paint colour, I don't want too dark but not too light either. We did have the colours sorted but when we had a look around the gallery, we couldn't see the right coloured roof tile! Boooo Re: Building with Simonds in Adelaide 54May 04, 2016 5:11 pm What colour roof tile did you want? Roughly speaking? Re: Building with Simonds in Adelaide 56May 04, 2016 5:33 pm Only your window frames will be lighter, ja? And will that cladding still be white-ish? Was there a roof tile colour that was anything like close to the grey/brown you want? (It looks grey/brown to me on my screen) If there was some colour in roof tiles that picked up your brick colour, you could still totally go with that render colour, and look pulled together... even more so if there was a frame colour close to that render colour... At least, that's how it looks to me. Re: Building with Simonds in Adelaide 57May 04, 2016 5:36 pm Then again, you gotta see if the frame colour will go with the interiors as well... that's why I said surfmist for mine... very neutral. Now I'm thinking I might change the garage doors back to surfmist... *sigh* Goodluck with it... no hitting! Re: Building with Simonds in Adelaide 58May 04, 2016 5:48 pm I don't want to think about it anymore haha it's making my head hurt! I guess we will just see what the lady at gallery suggests Re: Building with Simonds in Adelaide 59May 04, 2016 6:51 pm Haha, I geddit! Let someone else do the work, that's what we pay 'em for! Re: Building with Simonds in Adelaide 60May 04, 2016 8:30 pm Why aren't you going with that? I like the look of that whole thing! The people across the road have white window frames, white doors, and white (or some variation) render and imo it looks terrible It just looks so unfinished and I think it would get dirty so easily. (Whites look good if the whole thing is light but this place isn't, it just looks strange) We built the Rathdowne with Simonds Express in Western Melbourne Site start Oct. 2015 Keys Jan. 25th, 2015 My build thread -here- Building a new home, and looking for a garage builder (home builder not contracted to do this).
