Browse Forums Building A New House Re: building the jg king memphis-trent facade, geelong 41Jan 27, 2016 7:49 pm We had a few things change cat since we first signed but not much you can do. You.could hold out and talk to your site supervisor or painter before they start painting and see if they'll do the colour you want. The painter has to buy the paint anyway. My brother inlaw is a painter amd.they have to buy it for each job the builder doesnt supply it. Iguess it jist works in their system to chose one of tgeur paint colours. Hope they can.sort the council out too and you can get started. Our Build Thread - JG king Memphis Re: building the jg king memphis-trent facade, geelong 42Jan 27, 2016 8:07 pm The siting problem was because of a sewer point which was discovered after sogning. We tried bringing the house back 35 cm to the road which they rejected ? Regarding the paint issue it was just a dulux colour called natural white no special colour at all. The reason they wont allow it is because rhere 2 colour paint system wont peovude coverage. They only allow certain colors that have been chosen to make sure that the plaster cant b seen. Its really rediculous reason for not allowing the colour. Re: building the jg king memphis-trent facade, geelong 43Jan 27, 2016 8:27 pm I suppose they don't do an undercoat? Where as other brands of paint would.. It's a wonder they even let you have that in the first place! Are they not able to create a similar colour in Haymes paint? I did find the choice of whites available unappealing.. Although I chose my current houses wall paint based on the name.... antique white USA Re: building the jg king memphis-trent facade, geelong 44Jan 27, 2016 8:35 pm Yeah i want them to mix the dulux color at haymes paint. They spray then roll thats the 2 coats. Really white colours still show through the original plaster color. I need a 3rd coat if i want that color which will cost over $ 3500 Re: building the jg king memphis-trent facade, geelong 45Jan 27, 2016 8:58 pm Yeah the whites take a bit to cover. We went with imagine its more grey base then white but hopefully it will come up well. Good luck with your paint. Hope the 35cms gets figured out. Our Build Thread - JG king Memphis Re: building the jg king memphis-trent facade, geelong 46Jan 28, 2016 9:12 am Hmmm... That makes me wonder if our external paint will eventually get knocked back. We eventually went with the haymes colour on the finsbury display after being told at the colour app that we couldn't have it and had to choose off the board incase 2 coats wasn't enough. We just changed it when we changed a few things after tiles and no one said anything. The sample pot I got from haymes said 2 coats required so I won't be impressed if they try to change it. Its a frustratingly slow process! I hope things get moving for you soon Jimmy. Re: building the jg king memphis-trent facade, geelong 47Feb 29, 2016 5:31 pm Hey Jimmy Any luck with the house siting? Our Build Thread - JG king Memphis Re: building the jg king memphis-trent facade, geelong 48Mar 06, 2016 6:30 pm Hello surtees sorry for late reply. We have had one issue after another and dont seem to be getting anywhere. To be totally honest i am getting really getting frustrated with the whole process and the lack of urgency and at times lack of communication from the jgking. We r now 6 months since we paid deposit and still a while off contract. I wabt to make it clear robert from the display centre has tried to keep me updated and done everything he can my whole issue is with the rest of the team and how long everything is taking. It has been a terrible experience but hopefully we are over the hurdles and smooth sailing from now on. Our plans are at engineering at the moment and contract should follpw. Fingers crossed Re: building the jg king memphis-trent facade, geelong 49Mar 06, 2016 7:01 pm Hi Jimmy, it seems to be a very common theme! We paid our deposit in June and were only able to sign in January. We had hoped to start on site in December/January - but are only starting now. Our sales rep (also in geelong) seemed to come across so many issues in getting the admin team to progress our build. We ended up bringing it up with the admin team directly and found that the process picked up considerably. They know it's an issue, and are taking steps to improve it (for e.g. pushing people towards the UP range rather than alpha). Re: building the jg king memphis-trent facade, geelong 50Mar 06, 2016 8:16 pm Hi jaslee Thanks for the reply i can relate to everything u wrpte would like to hear from ithers to see if these are ommon issues. What did u mean by they are trying to resolve issues by pushing people to upgrades? Did u mean they are offering upgrades as a compensation? The whole frustration is that jess told us the plan was to start build in december i cant see how we will be starting by april our budget was already well over that didnt include all the rent wr will be required to pay as we sold out house last year and were only hoping to rent for about 6 months . I almost pulled the pin on the build and cancelled it last week i was going to call them abd ask for my deposit back and go with another builder that ahowed my levels of frustration but the wife talked me out of the decision. I would love to hear from everyone else . Re: building the jg king memphis-trent facade, geelong 51Mar 06, 2016 9:06 pm Hi Jimmy, sorry to hear its been that way for you guys hopefully the contracts come through quickly for you and you can move on to the build. I think Jaslee means.that they are pushing people to the Up home series the new express limited choices/upgrades. Our experemoce with kings has been good. Although we were waiting on land so we just moved along at a steady pace. We've had a couple of things come.up along.the way but its been.recitified pretty quickly. Re: building the jg king memphis-trent facade, geelong 53Mar 08, 2016 2:19 pm Im finding building to definitely not smooth sailing like buying an established house first time was for us. Its a journey with lots of ups and downs. Between delevopers, banks and builders who both seem to work at a snails pace it can be quite frustrating when there dealing with what it very important to us aka our family home. We have had a pretty good run so far with jg king comparing to others on here but were not build yet so i dont want to jinx it. Everything feels like it takes atleast a week or more to handle one issue i completely understand how frustrated people can get. Just keep swimming is our current moto so keep swimming and in a year or more this will all be a distant nightmare hopefully. Re: building the jg king memphis-trent facade, geelong 55Apr 19, 2016 8:42 pm Hi julia Its been a huge rollercoaster but hopefully.smooth sailing from now on. Got a phone call from our site supervisor today which made it all real and exciting. They are excavating our block next tue and then i have about 10 days to get the retainer walls up. You wouldn't know anyone that dpes retainers? Frame is due to be delivered on 13th may so im assuming the slab will be poured a week or so earlier. We are so excited and will be updating progress regularly. We chose our tiles a few weeks back which added $2500 for upgrades but thinnk it will look great . Only carpets and floorboards to go which ill choose soon from my work. Im doing them both after handover. Ill attach our final plans and tiles in a few minutes. Re: building the jg king memphis-trent facade, geelong 57Apr 19, 2016 9:26 pm Thats fantastic news!! Im glad to hear your progressing. Im a bit bias to your build because your building the same floor plan as us ![]() We have had our slab poured today, were very excited. This maybe strange and im not a total crazy but if you like your welcome to come out when the frames up to walk through it and get a rough sense of it ( because i know how difficult it would be for you not having physically walked through a display to get an idea of space) Im pretty excited to get the frame up in a few weeks. Jg king have worked fast but great workmanship Re: building the jg king memphis-trent facade, geelong 59Apr 19, 2016 10:09 pm Yeah we had to reduce the width of the garage and keep it off the boundary wgich isnt ideal as now we have no rear access ![]() Re: building the jg king memphis-trent facade, geelong 60Apr 19, 2016 10:24 pm Oh wow yes that would get a bit costly for a meter, hopefully things get moving now. Your tiles look grest cant wait to see it come.together. Our Build Thread - JG king Memphis I would never build with Fowler homes.
