Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 41Jul 12, 2015 11:02 pm Hey bobbin, hope things move along for you, sounds like each personal experience can be different, we got back our prelim footings (that's what I'm calling them) as they said they will come down once the kerbs and street goes in (they better bloody hope so as they blew out by a few thousand. 😔😱) so we still wait until lend lease get started on their site works...meanwhile bank pack was already sent to our finance guy a couple weeks ago and we received final plans and selection packs this week. Appts for direct and supremes have been made for august. I guess council application will go in soon, just can't help but feel that everything will fall into place in a mad rush to the finish line!! Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 42Jul 18, 2015 8:18 pm Ok, direct interiors and supreme kitchens selections appointments are done. I am really sick, so the supreme kitchens appt this morning was painful! Have to hope I won't regret any of the decisions made with a fuzzy head! The island has 2 sets of 3 pot drawers, a bin drawer and 500mm wide cutlery drawers. We have gone for 900mm wide canopy range hood, wall oven and ceramic cooktop. We wanted induction but sacrificed that for the 2pac! We have selected standard handles but may change this for something more suited to a shaker style kitchen. Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 44Jul 18, 2015 8:57 pm Gorgeous!! I love it all. Can't wait to see the kitchen finished ![]() Our build: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=70584 Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 45Jul 19, 2015 7:32 am Loving all the colours and your kitchen door profile. Very exciting. Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 46Jul 19, 2015 1:37 pm Looks nice, similar colours to what we will go with. With your bath how long is this in length? Does it stand alone with no tiling around the front just what is on the wall? Also in your kitchen was it very expensive to upgrade to the draw bin? We have selections in two weeks, can't wait to get started! @bobbin Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 47Jul 19, 2015 3:26 pm Thanks blue steel and cat sync! I am super excited to see the kitchen finished too! Heather - the bath is 1700mm long and it is freestanding, so no tiled hob. It is for our ensuite. The main bathroom has a normal bath in a tiled hob as it is more practical for kids. The bin drawer was around $250. We had one allowed for in the contract but we wanted a bigger one, where there isn't a gap between the bench and the bins. The one that supreme had in their showroom was right. I can put up some prices later on, when my iPad has charged (I'm on my phone atm). Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 48Jul 19, 2015 5:32 pm That's great, the bath is too big for our space, I'm struggling to find one to fit our space, will end up with the old regular one I think. I think the money for the bin drawer Is well worth it,so will make.sure that goes in too. all good about the prices, only if you want to 😉 @bobbin Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 49Jul 19, 2015 7:25 pm Supreme kitchens pricing: Twin bin drawer $244 Pot drawers $129 per drawer (so $258 for a set of 2, $387 for a set of 3) DG acrylic edging $65 Grooved 2pac panels. $117 each Extra set vanity drawers $155 Raise kicker in kitchen $206 Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 50Jul 19, 2015 7:30 pm Direct Interiors Laying a standard choice tile as a feature $200 Brick laying the subway tile $200 Towel rings $34 Double towel rail instead of single $19 Glass shelf (can't use these with rail showers). $19 Laundry mixer instead of wall taps $90 Lever internal door handles. $25 per door Non-standard caroma products - full retail price ![]() Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 51Jul 19, 2015 9:36 pm That's great to know, I was hoping to do a feature tile in the bathrooms and was wondering if they charge more for that! What is the glass shelf, is that like an upgraded soap holder? Is that laundry mixer the one you can take out on a hose or a fixed mixer tap? Sorry for all questions ![]() Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 52Jul 21, 2015 2:41 pm The laundry mixer is just a standard fixed mixer tap. I'm sure you could upgrade to a pull out sprayer though if you wanted (for an extra cost). The glass shelf is about 500mm long I guess? And is for storing shampoo bottles etc. We forgot to put in a niche at contract stage and despite asking for pricing for a niche twice after signing the contract, that request was overlooked. I couldn't be bothered pushing it. Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 53Jul 21, 2015 2:46 pm Anyone who was following my experience with Sekisui would know that we had MAJOR dramas with our kitchen bench. We wanted a 1.5m section of the bench to be benchtop only to be used as a dining table. We preferred to have table legs at the end rather than a laminate panel. Sekisui used Farquhar kitchens and they just could not get their heads around what we wanted. I even went in in person and was told that there were very limited options. It took them four months to get us a quote, and it came back as $9000 for two wooden legs!!! Anyway, we asked at our appointment with Supreme on Saturday how they would be handling that, and they said that it would just be a stone slab at the end. We asked if it would be possible to have wooden legs and she said she would check with one of the cabinetmakers on Monday and get back to us. Today we have received an email saying that they can do turned wooden legs (decorative) or plain boxed legs. They are getting us a quote on the turned wooden legs now. It has all just been so so easy! Our salesperson when we had described what we wanted initially didn't even look confused! Just hoping they won't come back and say it will cost $9000!!! Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 54Jul 21, 2015 9:43 pm Glad to hear you have some good news, ps I forgot about.the shower niche too, so cheesed off that I forgot, only minor I guess but spewing I forgot all the same! Glass bench in the shower sounds like a good plan ![]() Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 55Jul 24, 2015 8:58 pm ![]() Today we have received an email saying that they can do turned wooden legs (decorative) or plain boxed legs. Maybe the others had a standard and they were inflexible/ Pathetic really! Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 56Jul 24, 2015 10:37 pm Nice choices Bobbin! I remember that kerfuffle with Farquhar. That was ridiculously poor. I would never think of them for anything after reading that. How hard could it really be? You explained it exceptionally well in a short internet post and picture. I could have made it myself with about $50 in materials. I looked so easy. Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 57Jul 25, 2015 4:23 pm I agree with Tomcat, so strange and poor that they struggled with the concept but absolutely brilliant that the new guys seem to have to drama with it. I was at the Newcastle homes show today and saw a lower kitchen table attached to the end of an island bench. It looked terrific and I thought of you. Can't believe I didn't take a photo :/ bugger, kicking myself now! Our build: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=70584 Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 58Jul 28, 2015 9:58 pm She quoted $388+GST!! VERY different from 9k! But she had forgotten that we had raised the height of the bench so she needs to work out how much the higher legs will cost. I don't expect it will be too much more though. She also raised the issue of flooring - as the kitchen will be installed before flooring we may need to get the bamboo cut out around the legs + beading installed. We are happy to deal with that if need be, and I have emailed her to let her know. She was going to make a few phone calls and get back to us, but I haven't heard back from her yet. We got our arborist report back Friday morning. It's not entirely supportive of the new plan as the encroachment was now 17.5% and anything over 10% is a 'major' encroachment. The arborist had not noticed the email I had sent him advising the location of the septic tank had been moved from the back to the front yard, so that will reduce the encroachment by 2.3%. The major issue was the cut - it seems to be a bit further away from the building than the Sekisui cut. The arborist had read the cut wrong for the Sekisui plan and we had to have that amended the first time around, so I thought I would call my SC to get him to discuss with the engineers and the arborist to a) make sure the arborist got it right, and b) to see if there was anything that could be done to reduce the cut impact. I received the email from the arborist at 10:18am as I was getting DD ready for ballet. I called the SC at about 11:10am and he answered but was with a client so said he would call back. At 1pm he called me back and told me that he had already sent the arborist report to the council!! I think he was trying to be efficient knowing that I have been pushing to get things moving recently. But I don't think he actually read the report before sending it! Good thing it was only slightly unsupportive and not outright saying the DA should be rejected! Anyway the SC will be liasing with council soon to see if it is likely to be approved as is or if something needs to changed. During the conversation with the SC I mentioned that I had been having difficulties at work, and if, god forbid, I lost my job before our home loan was finalised we would not be able to proceed with the build. He agreed to try and get us booked in for our builders interview early. I need to chase him up to see if that is going to happen. Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 59Jul 28, 2015 10:01 pm Wow that's a monster difference, shows first mob just put it in the too hard basket... Hope your interview gets booked in ASAP and council is reasonable and kind. Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Adelaide KDR 60Jul 28, 2015 10:05 pm Yeah, I think Farquhar/Sekisui just didn't want to do it so made the price so outrageously high they knew we would not accept it! yes it does, you've just not understood it. theres a difference. 4 6209 Your house should come in "as new" condition.
