The roof tiling going on in one day is amazing. Pity about your coin in the slab though its pretty low. I laughed about the skip bin the amount of junk people try to off load is astounding. Your view is so lovely from your back alfresco. Cant wait to see you build progress, you have made lovely colour selections too. We are hoping our land registers next week and we can start in Feb we are a Gold Coast build too. Did you house fair ok with all the rain on Thursday night and Friday? it was a crazy amount of water. Thanks Tribe7 ![]() ![]() Hi JLC, Waiting on the land is the most frustrating thing in the world. We signed for our land back in July and still nothing. We had high hopes for plan sealing this week but that has been shot down into a ball of flames. We have done our build in the reverse, we are building with Metricon and have everything completed with them and all they are waiting on is the drawings for the land to confirm the plumbing and electrical's for the certifier to approve and the title for proof of ownership. As soon as we have the title Metricon will be onsite within a month (this is our saving grace having them so organised). Yes we have just started a thread, I have finally figured out how to put the thread link into the signature. Your very lucky to have found registered land its so rare up here or killer expensive. Good job on gluing that coin in firmly, surely they cant dig that out. Oh very handy the insulation fairy has been, did style master mind? It will make your house so much cooler especially with the ducted. Great progress cant wait to see the next stage. Let's just say the builder wasn't happy about the insulation fairy visiting without permission, due to OSH risks etc, but what's done is done... Maybe if they suggested items like this be added to the build when you are negotiating your contract, it wouldn't have to be a rushed, unauthorised afterthought... The one thing that disappointed us with them was the lack of suggestions for standard things to add to the build (I don't think they suggested a single upgrade apart from their basic 'bonus' offers)... it's like they would be happy to just sign you up for the base price - don't they want to make any extra money?? There are so many things that people wouldn't think of adding, especially first-timers, so a bit of advice wouldn't go astray! I just checked out your thread - your plans and colour selections look great!! I would have loved a window splashback if our kitchen was in a different position... I hope your land registers soon, but it is great that Metricon is so organised - I look forward to following your build ![]() Re: First Build – modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster:windows 48Jan 29, 2015 8:48 am Gib delivered yesterday... due to start installing today ![]() http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Gib_zps636b9c3d.jpg Re: First Build – modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster:windows 49Jan 29, 2015 5:31 pm ![]() Lucky coin, take 2 - superglued this sucker in, with an extra layer of superglue on top for good measure! http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/LuckyCoinTake2_zpsc26cd4df.jpg I don't think that'll stop a tradie with a screwdriver. It's a real mind field of options but if your given none then you have to do what you can when the time arises. Good idea about the news paper that's a clever idea. I wonder if they will get your gib up as fast as your roof went on? Thanks, we are pleased with the house plans and colours, slightly nervous as it's quite hard to picture it all together. The main reason we got the window splash back was because a fancy glass splash back was triple the cost of a window one so it was a easy choice. I just wish we had made it higher and put a door or cavity slider on the pantry. I'm going to have a battle on my hands keeping the kiddies out of the pantry. Good luck with the gib.
