Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Custom Build with Dale Alcock WA - Slabbed 41Jul 31, 2013 11:41 pm Yeah I don't think I would mix real wood floorboards and wood look tiles We got ours from Imported Ceramics but there was another tile shop around the corner from it in Osborne Park that had the most amazing looking wood tiles I have seen! I just can't remember what it was called There are heaps of tile shops along Hector Street and Kind Edward Road in Osborne Park that all have wood look tiles For some reason I'm thinking Crosby had the tiles I really liked or it was a shop that was next to it. Re: Custom Build with Dale Alcock WA - Slabbed 42Aug 01, 2013 6:43 pm We went with Tiles Expo! Didn't bother with Crosby or European Ceramics in the end as we'd narrowed it down to a couple of samples by the time we left. Re: Custom Build with Dale Alcock WA - Slabbed 43Aug 01, 2013 7:48 pm If the wood look tiles look as good down as I've heard and look so much like wood, would it be an issue to have them in the bedrooms? I know people who have wood in their bedrooms.... Also if you plan to live in the house for the medium to long term you should do what suits you not the market Re: Custom Build with Dale Alcock WA - Slabbed 44Aug 01, 2013 7:50 pm Be very cold to walk on when you get out of your warm bed in winter hehe Re: Custom Build with Dale Alcock WA - Slabbed 45Aug 01, 2013 7:57 pm If your doing the tiling after handover you might want to look into underfloor heating! It can be expensive to install but it is meant to be a pretty efficient way of heating the house. My mom has it in her bathroom and I have to say it is nice to step out on in winter after a nice hot shower! And it can be turned off when not needed. I have no idea what it would cost to do a while house... Re: Custom Build with Dale Alcock WA - Slabbed 46Aug 01, 2013 11:36 pm One of my friends has underfloor heating, it's a heating element that is actually in the slab itself. He loves it, but our slab is already down now We're now thinking of going with some other tile in living areas and wood in bedrooms... We'll have to make our way out to tiles expo again - love that place some of the designs are amazing. Re: Custom Build with Dale Alcock WA - Slabbed 47Aug 01, 2013 11:40 pm My mom had her underfloor heating done with her bathroom renovation so there must be an alternative to having it in the slab... They've left tonnes of dirt in the area and it's even on the pad so I'm hoping that will get cleaned up soon, I can barely see the pad. Will be nice having new fences compared to what was there before though Can't wait to see your bricks going up soon Re: Custom Build with Dale Alcock WA - Slabbed 53Aug 10, 2013 3:22 pm No the neighbours at the back are all good, we're just waiting for the build to finish to do the back one. Re: Custom Build with Dale Alcock WA - Slabbed 54Aug 12, 2013 12:27 am Had a good look around today - it's not looking great at the moment. The plumbing connections have been damaged in some places or are not capped and there are tonnes of dirt on the pad. I can't understand why they would dump dirt on the pad - they have to get it off at some point later. Why not do it properly in the first place? I was told Friday that we've got a new SS also, so maybe they will sort it out. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Master bedroom under dirt. Re: Custom Build with Dale Alcock WA - Slabbed 55Aug 12, 2013 12:39 am Pretty sure all of our pipes except for the kitchen island ones were crushed/snapped/cut when we got bricks delivered and some weren't capped so filled with all sorts of lovely stuff Seems to be the norm though from what I've seen elsewhere? Re: Custom Build with Dale Alcock WA - Slabbed 56Aug 12, 2013 12:43 am xxkatxx Pretty sure all of our pipes except for the kitchen island ones were crushed/snapped/cut when we got bricks delivered and some weren't capped so filled with all sorts of lovely stuff Seems to be the norm though from what I've seen elsewhere? ha! well it's looks like we're right on track then. They've actually cut all the pipes down to slab level but they have crushed some. Why do they bother with caps if they are just going to destroy them.
