Browse Forums Building A New House Re: First Home Build in Wellard WA - Tiles & Flooring Pics! 41May 04, 2014 8:58 am We found the builders carpets to be Great, due to having a house fulled with kids they are only going to wear it out after a few years! We went with the darkest one they had. I love the dark grey flooring the camera can be a pain when the true colour doesn't come out well Re: First Home Build in Wellard WA - Tiles & Flooring Pics! 42May 04, 2014 11:31 am Sounds like things are starting to roll ... yay! Nice selections, like the timber laminate. We chose to upgrade our carpet but we are past the little kid stage and know that it will last. I can't place enough emphasis on the fact that some times it isn't the carpet but the underlay chosen ... if you can afford to upgrade your underlay do so, will be a pretty cheap upgrade and make the world of difference. Re: First Home Build in Wellard WA - Tiles & Flooring Pics! 43May 04, 2014 5:39 pm aimees88 21st May will come around quick and it just gives you time to prepare! Don't forget to read the 'things you forgot' thread - some really handy notes in there. I am liking the tile selections - loving all the dark tiles people are choosing. Timber laminate will look good - well done on the selections Thanks and yes will definitely be reading the "things you forgot" thread and writing EVERYTHING down Re: First Home Build in Wellard WA - Tiles & Flooring Pics! 44May 04, 2014 5:54 pm vetty19 Hmmm some of those choices look familiar All your choices look great, can't wait to see it all come together I was adamant about upgrading the carpet haha so that's being paid for out of my tax refund I do like the colours you've chosen though! Hmmm we've gone for tiles but the Timber laminate keeps popping up so I may have to have a closer look at it (I love love the grey you've chosen) haha yes they are lovely tiles though. I was totally clueless when I went to the tile shop and thankfully I got a really helpful assistant there who helped me. I was tempted to upgrade the carpet but with 2 young kids I figured I would just save some money now and can upgrade later on ( when kids are much bigger!!). I love the dark grey flooring the camera can be a pain when the true colour doesn't come out well We only had a choice between 4 different styles and then the various colours in each. We will upgrade when the kids get bigger if need be Marcia Sounds like things are starting to roll ... yay! Nice selections, like the timber laminate. Thanks Never even thought about upgrading underlay, they didn't even mention it to me in the shop. We may have to look into that though. Re: First Home Build in Wellard WA -Prestart tomorrow!! 46May 20, 2014 9:43 pm Yay finally after waiting a month for an appointment we have our pre-start tomorrow. Not planning on doing too much as need to keep to budget but still undecided about front render colour :S Hopefully it will all go smoothly and quickly though Re: First Home Build in Wellard WA - Prestart tomorrow! 47May 21, 2014 7:32 pm I love your tiles selection , that's a nice selection , are they upgrade? Good luck Re: First Home Build in Wellard WA - Prestart tomorrow! 48May 21, 2014 7:45 pm Hi Sinurt! How was Prestart!!! Did it blow your mind? All the Choices you need to can be full on! Re: First Home Build in Wellard WA - Prestart tomorrow! 49May 21, 2014 8:36 pm @Dream home 2015 - no all the tiles were picked from the builders selection - I was actually quite surprised by how good the selection was!! @2-cupcakes-pls Pre-start went really well thanks, we had a good idea about what we were going with and the only thing we really changed was the render colour and brick paving colour lol. Overall we were in and out in about 4 hours and went about $1000 over our initial amount set aside for pre-start BUT we did pick a $1000 front door Absolutely love it though and the costs of other things were pretty reasonable - well the other things we upgraded so thought we would splash out. We went with the Intelligence homes wiring package so got a rebate on the builders NBN package which basically covered all our additional GPO's and extra lights. Things we added were: - Added an extra shower head in our ensuite as it was a double size shower anyway - Added a water point to fridge recess - Moved a downpipe from front of garage and added 2 lights at either side of garage - Added a pot drawer under oven - Additional tiling up to rangehood - Made shelves in linen closest slightly smaller so I could have room for my ironing board at side - Fancy front door!! - Added external plugs and additional lights down side of house - Lots of extra double GPO's and data points/ tv points throughout the house!! We did almost have a major f**k up as our sales rep messed up the front elevation of our house - which I pointed out earlier BUT anyway. They first of all weren't going to include our feature brick cladded wall at front and side then they weren't going to do the render to front as well - despite both being in the original elevation. Anyway our pre-start girl was excellent and got it sorted and got our brick cladding picked and render picked and of course I forgot to take a picture of the cladding doh. All in all though it went a lot smoother than I was expecting and am very happy with the choices.... now to wait for next stage... Re: First Home Build in Wellard WA - Prestart Done! 56May 23, 2014 9:51 pm dannislade your lucky only a day to go through shire i've been told 3 weeks to get mine back through shire. I suspect it will be at least a couple of weeks to go back through shire for us too, she didn't mention any timeframe though. Just really annoyed that it had to be resubmitted when I pointed it out to them weeks ago I reckon at the speed we are going though everyone else on our street will have moved in before our brickwork even starts!! Re: First Home Build in Wellard WA - we have a tap!!! 57May 24, 2014 9:06 pm So took a drive by our site today and yay we have a tap!!! Nice to see something new on our block - except for other peoples excess sand. All our neighbours sites have been cleared and the one in front of us is almost at plate height so they have been using our block to put the sand on!!! Talking of the block though - just realised I hadn't added any photos of it!! So below is a photo, pre sold sign and pre sand pile ups, and also one of the amazing tap (with part of a sand pile) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: First Home Build in Wellard WA - Prestart Done! 58May 27, 2014 9:31 pm Congrats on prestart and the tap!
