Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Rendition Homes 41Jul 08, 2009 9:13 pm Hi All Vid ,we are in Marion southern side of the trainline very close to Parkholme shopping centre. We are scheduled to knock down on 23 July. Roar - our final footing cost was $2000 cheaper than the first quote which was a nice surprise, there was not real shocks in our variation contact. Since we have had our builders interview things have moved very quick and they guy that we are dealing with has been great, his name is Peter. Goodluck and keep us updated Fabes Re: Building with Rendition Homes 42Jul 08, 2009 9:23 pm Hi We finally have some action!!! Rendition have our engineering report back and have actually been asking for info to confirm details for our variations/quotes for selections. Contract pricing should be back to us by the end of the week/early next week. Nervous about cost but c'est la vie if it blows out a little. Estimated time to be in our house is nine months from now (conservative estimate, apparently). It's a long, long way from having a house but after months of waiting it's finally happening. Woo hoo Will keep you posted... Re: Building with Rendition Homes 43Jul 08, 2009 10:25 pm fabes Hi All Vid ,we are in Marion southern side of the trainline very close to Parkholme shopping centre. We are scheduled to knock down on 23 July. Fabes Hi Fabes, Your pretty close to us we are by the Marion School, I saw your post on the building in SA section 900m2 that's a fantastic size block, good luck with the build. Vid Re: Building with Rendition Homes 44Jul 12, 2009 9:01 pm Well, we have finally moved out of our home and the electricity gets cut off tomorrow. It have been a big weekend, I can not believe how much stuff we have, mind you half of it belongs to the kids and they are only 3 and 15 months old. Re: Building with Rendition Homes 45Jul 18, 2009 1:45 pm Hi guys, Been interesting reading your comments about Rendition Homes! We signed with Rendition back in May 2008 and it took them 12 months to get to site! Not happy with them at all. Rendition are building a couple of homes in our area and I've spoken with the owners, its taken Rendition 20 months to build both of their homes and I think ours will be a similar build time. We're excited that its finally started but the whole experience has been pretty average & not to mention their so called 'competive pricing'. You need to check each variation very carefully. Good luck, hope you guys have a better experience than ours. Re: Building with Rendition Homes 46Jul 18, 2009 6:20 pm Hi thredgold - it looks like we'll be onsite in August, 12 months after signing too. If we're lucky! Last time I was on here we were that we'd have our pricing within the week... But that was two weeks ago. Just about given up waiting for them to stick to any kind of timeframe. We figure add on a few months to the estimated nine months until handover they told us two weeks ago. Not happy but will be interested to see whether the quality is worth the wait when some of you get your houses started. Re: Building with Rendition Homes 47Jul 25, 2009 12:30 am Hi Everyone Well after 9 months of planning and replanning we finally received council approval today. Hooray, action is not far away (I hope) 2011 Home Sweet Home Handover 03 September 2010 PCI 27August 2010 Plumber 20August 2010 Electrician 19August 2010 Painting 04 August 2010 Cabinets 13Jul2010 Lockup 23June Frame 20April slab 1Mar10 Re: Building with Rendition Homes 48Jul 26, 2009 2:10 am Can I ask, is anyone who is building with RH getting laminate benchtops and if so, did you request gloss. They have told us flat out we can't have it as they wont guarantee them. Just hoping that someone may have got RH to bend their rules. I know some builders have issues and some don't. 2011 Home Sweet Home Handover 03 September 2010 PCI 27August 2010 Plumber 20August 2010 Electrician 19August 2010 Painting 04 August 2010 Cabinets 13Jul2010 Lockup 23June Frame 20April slab 1Mar10 Re: Building with Rendition Homes 49Jul 26, 2009 11:58 am Anna1 - I've not heard about the gloss laminate benchtops being a problem. Many people have told us to steer clear of them as they initially look great but scratch very easily. Probably wouldn't put them in the kitchen then? Strange that they outright refuse - that should be your call? WE HAVE OUR CONTRACT PRICING SUMMARY!!! After six months of waiting we are finally in a position of working out what will actually be in our new house. Very anxious about it all blowing out and being left with no $ for landscaping. But at least we have our prices and our Builder's Interview is booked in. Re: Building with Rendition Homes 50Jul 26, 2009 12:38 pm Congrats Roar - that is fantastic. We are not building with Rendition but I think I heard somewhere that they are somehow affiliated with Fairmont (who we are building with) we chose Diamond gloss but Supreme Kitchens made us sign a waiver to say it's our responsibility if anything happens to them, we would have liked Caesarstone but couldn't fit it into our budget There is a thread on Diamond Gloss at the following link. viewtopic.php?f=16&t=17048&start=60 Re: Building with Rendition Homes 52Jul 30, 2009 4:21 pm Corgratulations Roar, that is great news when is your Builders Interview? Our update - We have moved out and have been living with my in-laws for 3 weeks now. The house is getting demolished on Tueaday. RH have told us once the house has been demolished to let them know and they will organise the Survey people which will take about a week and a half and then the slab will go down 2 weeks after that. So fingers crossed we will have some action at the end of Aug. Re: Building with Rendition Homes 53Aug 05, 2009 1:54 pm Hi all We built with Rendition homes, and have been in our house 3 months. We had a lot of trouble with Rendition homes, some of the staff members and that stuff that happened to us was pretty wrong. From the time we signed our contract until we moved into our house it was over year easily, we had delays such as heat wave and christmas. Our whole experience was horrible, but our house looks excellent. We are waiting now for Rendition to call us about the maintenance of our house, we are waiting it's been 3 weeks since we sent the list of things to be fixed. Re: Building with Rendition Homes 54Aug 05, 2009 11:04 pm Oh Smithrend, thats terrible, please share your experience with us, if you don't want to post publically please pm me - probably roar and fabes too. 2011 Home Sweet Home Handover 03 September 2010 PCI 27August 2010 Plumber 20August 2010 Electrician 19August 2010 Painting 04 August 2010 Cabinets 13Jul2010 Lockup 23June Frame 20April slab 1Mar10 Re: Building with Rendition Homes 55Aug 06, 2009 10:04 am smithrend - sorry to hear you had a bad experience. Was it mainly to do with being kept waiting? If so, we know the feeling! They are terrible at getting back to you. We always add a few months when they say "a week or so"... fabes - we had our Builders Interview this week and I'm so relieved to say it went really well Very happy with how it's progressing at this point. Everything has come together nicely. Apart from being kept waiting (for many agonising months) I have to say when you do deal with their consultants they are very helpful and knowledgeable. We changed a few things with the colours and look of the house, thanks to advice from Janice, their interior designer. She's fantastic. Lovely person to deal with. Changed the rendered front to Paperbark to match a Paperbark panel lift garage door (had originally wanted to paint the garage door to match a specific colour). Interior is to be Parchment with white skirtings and ceiling. Changed the splashback in the kitchen to a long white tile, laid brickbond style (staggered). Out came the western red cedar windows to the front but we're keeping our Essa Stone benchtop Installing an evacuated tube HWS with electric boost on the west-facing roof. Our front faces north so this is our only option other than a noisy heatpump. Added a few things here and there, took a few things out. So cost-wise it all balances out. No nasty surprises as the estimates for spoil removal, etc. appear to be generous. So we've pretty much got everything sorted. Except for a hunt on the weekend for the pegs. Apparently they're concealed and it will cost us $700+ to have the block re-surveyed. So we're determined to find those pegs!!! From here it will be a matter of tidying up the paperwork from the BI and then waiting for bank approval. Pre-approval is fine but we've been told the banks will take a minimum of a month to get the approval through. Some banks are worse than others. Commonwealth, our bank, is one of the quicker ones. I love that there are some nice surprises with their Classic Finishes that I didn't expect until we went through the selections. It should be a fantastic quality home when we finally move in! Current estimate is April next year. In for Easter, fingers crossed! fabes - Your demolition went according to plan? Your slab isn't far off being poured now, is it? Anna1 - any news now that you have council approval? Re: Building with Rendition Homes 56Aug 06, 2009 1:36 pm Hi Roar I am glad to hear that your BI went well, it is very exciting. Our house is still standing the demo guy is behind in his work, asbestos was removed yesterday so hopefully it will be early next week. I received a call from Rendition today to say that they have not received any paper work from the bank which was sent over two weeks ago so have to arrange for it to be sent again Re: Building with Rendition Homes 57Aug 06, 2009 9:32 pm Wow - its all happening. Yes we finally have our council approval. Rendition have said we should be right to demolish in about 10 weeks. During this period we will have our builders interview, bank approval etc. What were the nice surprises with the classic finishes? 2011 Home Sweet Home Handover 03 September 2010 PCI 27August 2010 Plumber 20August 2010 Electrician 19August 2010 Painting 04 August 2010 Cabinets 13Jul2010 Lockup 23June Frame 20April slab 1Mar10 Re: Building with Rendition Homes 58Aug 06, 2009 10:37 pm We didn't realise our skirtings would also include a "block" where the skirting meets the doorframe arch, giving it the older style we were after. Our laundry includes cupboards and a bench. Deadbolts with all doors keyed alike including sliding doors. The selection of tiles in the standard range is very good. Maybe a few other things but I can't think at the moment. These might be in all their usual specs (?) but they're things we assumed we'd have to pay extra for. And they may seem trivial but we're really happy to hear they're included. We've found their pricing to be very up front and in most cases over-estimated so we got money back Re: Building with Rendition Homes 59Aug 06, 2009 11:19 pm ooo fingers crossed they've over quoted us too, but I think we are going to be up for heaps extra due to the council saga! I can't wait for the BI... 2011 Home Sweet Home Handover 03 September 2010 PCI 27August 2010 Plumber 20August 2010 Electrician 19August 2010 Painting 04 August 2010 Cabinets 13Jul2010 Lockup 23June Frame 20April slab 1Mar10 Re: Building with Rendition Homes 60Aug 12, 2009 3:42 pm Hello Well, we are offically homeless, our house was demolished on Monday and the site has been cleared.
