Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Piers done finally!!! 41Jun 18, 2009 5:46 pm Thank you all for the messages.
I spoke to the builder today and he said that the piers and plumbing are done, but the concreters preferred to wait until next Monday to start work on the slab to leave the piers for a while. Im ok with that. This means we can probably expect a slab to go down next Thursday. Although there has been a lot of delay at the start, the builder assured me that we are still on schedule, so regardless of when the slab goes down, we could only get bricked in 3 weeks time, as the brickie goes from one job to the next. So hopefully by the time he is ready for our house, we should be ready too. So i guess this means we wont have much waiting after the frame which we would have had before. At this point im thrilled that something is finally happening, i guess all we can do is take it one step at time. Ive got pictures of the piers being done, but i haven't been able to go back to the land since then. Over the weekend i will go past and take some pics of the plumbing. They're frame, roof trusses are up, with the gutters and fascia. Windows have been installed, and the place has been wrapped. The plumbing has been done too. Its looking more and more like a house now, very interesting to walk through and imagine the spaces. Can't wait till i can walk through mine! Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Plumbing done with pics 48Jun 20, 2009 7:26 pm You be so excited in the coming weeks watching all the progress of your house. Before you know it, we'll be having a slab party Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Plumbing done with pics 50Jun 21, 2009 11:22 pm If things keep moving as they are Abbey_aj it hopefully will not be too long before you can walk through your home Great pics and hope the slab is down soon Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Plumbing done with pics 51Jun 26, 2009 1:10 pm Thank you all I couldn't help myself, i managed to find some time yesterday to go past the land and take a look at the progress. I was hoping i would find a slab, but wasn't too lucky. It doesn't look like its that far off though, which is good. I took these pics at about midday yesterday, is it possible that a slab would go down today, or is it more likely monday you think? But save it till Monday before you take your drive, that way you're sure to have photos of your slab! Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Slab prep pics 53Jun 26, 2009 7:31 pm Oh, it is looking so neat and perfect Abbey_aj. Not long til slab time now Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Slab prep pics 55Jul 01, 2009 7:06 pm Well i decided not to go to the land over the weekend, and face another possiblity of getting dissappointed. My husband went past on Tuesday and found the slab poured! i was so excited, it feels like we've been waiting for it for so long. He only managed to take 3 pics, so i need to go past over the weekend and take much more pics, and see it for myself, im worried because in the pic it looks quite small. To me it doesn't look small at all and just wait til the frame goes up it will look really big. I am really excited for you Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Slab pics 58Jul 01, 2009 10:41 pm I've been looking over the photos of the slab and i noticed that they haven't poured any concrete to the alfresco area, but the contract states that a concrete floor is included, and when i first spoke to them i did get the impression that it would definitely be included so now im wondering why it hasn't been concreted, could it be possible that they would get it done later?
Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Slab pics 59Jul 01, 2009 10:47 pm Yay!!! Congratulations on the slab!!...exciting eh? The slab looks great......don't sweat about the alfresco concrete, if it's in your drawings, like ours is, then they'll be doing it later when they do the driveway. Don't sweat about the slab size either, everyone pretty much does, me included, lol... there's a thread on this same subject here somewhere...you can now join the club Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - something wrong with slab 60Jul 02, 2009 7:49 am Hi there, don't panic just yet as we too are having our alfresco concreted and it is being done at the end with the driveway. I am not sure the reasoning behind this but have never been worried. Touch base with your SS and see if this is the case for you too DH just told me the concrete does not have to be so thick and they can judge how high it needs to come up with where the bricks and doors are if this makes sense.
